What do you miss most of all that used to be part of this forum? Perhaps certain people? Old fashioned zanyness?

For me, it's missing the feel of the carefreeness that was over this place 6-7 years ago. The randomized music would really help convey that mood. n.n

I found the music pretty annoying (especially when I sneaked over to the forums from the computer lab and it would suddenly blare out of the speakers), but you're making me feel nostalgic for it.

"Carefreeness" really says it all. I don't think you could single out anything really specific about that period years ago. The people, the environment, the kinds of things people would talk about... it all added up to something. This isn't to put down the people who have joined recently, nor do I wish to be called an annoying nostalgic geezer, but I think it's fair to say that things have changed a bit since then.

:

Oh well.

ps. I don't think we've ever said anything to each other lol :]

We can make carefreeness. Look at Dub's topic.

I think the carefreeness went when people made too big a deal about being GREATLY OFFENDED, and on the opposite side sometimes people were rude. So we should try to avoid those extremes and keep the priority on ways we can make the forum better BY EXAMPLE.

Just be yourself, and add to the carefreeness of the forum by generating it!

I think the cause was when I stoped actively posting every day... I'll take one for the team!

Actually... yeah, i havn't been around enough to really notice a huge change here in the atmosphere.

I miss a lot of the oldbies that either don't come a lot or at all (Jin, Coyote Calhoun, Nick, Kathy Lu, JKK, etcetera).

Oh God, YES.

Look in MF Classics and read WB's skits. FUNNIEST THINGS IN THE WORLD. Whenever he goes for humor (like in the recent Team Dubble thread, though that's not technically a skit, but oh well), it becomes comedy GOLD.

Unlike most, I don't miss anything that this forum used to have. I've drifted with the flow and constantly adapted without even knowing it.

If people used to complain less and be more tolerant, then I sure as hell miss that. But that would be all.

As a side note, 😯 @ "stealing" from my photobucket

I miss the days when the SPA was funny, instead of full of the same irritating useless posts that, way back when, would've been labeled "bad spam" instead of the "good spam" that was promoted.

I also miss when post counts were a number, and not a reason of life.

And so much of the comedy and family that pulled me into coming here long after I stopped being a Sonic fan.

I don't know what I'm going to do when Eliteboard comes along. To me, that just sounds like the coming of the end of everything I loved about this forum.

And to think, all of these feelings, and my four year mark of being here is just around the corner. I'm not even an oldbie.

Dubs can't do it all himself. What they mean is people don't DO those kinds of posts anymore. And half the time funny posts turn into marble garden crap.

Vector still brings about funniness. Same with Psxphile (turning the channel skit?) and Tergo on occasion (remember Terror's intro to the Evil Admins?).

But still, nobody else on this forum makes me laugh as hard as Dubs can.

Speaking of which, are we still technically "married?":spin

That said, I'm not so sure what I miss. I notice I haven't been responding as frequently as I used to some two years ago. Either I feel something's missing here or maybe I'm just lazy.

I miss Emerald Chat. Okay, I don't miss tha angst of the Emerald Chat's existence, but I miss hanging around with a lot of the people I used to hang with in the Emerald Chat.

The funny thing is that most of the people who used to hang in the Emerald Chat are still around, it's just we're all on different schedules and stuff now. Every so often i send out a random invite, and everyone's like, "Wow, I forgot this place existed" for about five minutes, and then leave.

I remember the very first day I joined, Cookirini made a thread called "Come to Emerald Chat", and we like set a record with a seventy-two-hour-straight period where people were talking in there.

You know what else I miss? Those old gondola rides at Disneyworld? You know the ones where you would board in Tommorowland, and they'd fly you accross the park to Adventureland. WHY DID THEY HAVE TO GO!

I miss the Emerald Chat sortof. It's hard to have interesting convos in the new chat because people are all on diff. wavelengths mentally.

Other than that, no complaints really. I never thought the old skits were all that funny. 99% of them were a bunch of name dropping and the reason so many people flocked to that was the hope that they'd be mentioned.

I miss the old Emerald Chat, too. To me, it ended when the RPing in it changed rooms and everyone kinda split (I went with them, and now my currect schedule doesn't even fit that.)

I guess time just has to change everything, doesn't it?

And I don't care how many chats the MoFo goes through, the EC's magic will never be met again.

The old EC AIM chats. Miss that. Trying to start at least the RP side of it with the new room, having some success.

What Vector said.

And, Ultra reminded me of one of the things that I'm glad got lost to the four winds after the EZhack. That Terrornaut skit was pretty poor and was merely my own type of attempt to emulate WB's style. After years of reflection, there may be parts of it that are still funny, but hardly anyone recalls it (or my kilopost, for that matter; another thing that just needed to be buried) and it frankly was just a way to show off my Evil Moderator character.

And Vortex. I miss him too.

I think what I miss most is how lively and fun the forum was when I first joined. It did kinda go down a bit after the ezHackings when some Forumers got disillusioned...

But I digress, if there's things we miss, maybe we should see if we can figure ways of at least trying to bring back the essence of those things. =3

Heck, one thing you'll notice from this post is that 1. I stopped being on hiatus from this place and 2. I remembered that I used to write all my posts in a certain way, which I stopped doing after a bit. i.e., in this font style, so I decided to get abck into that habit. n.n

But yeah. No reason why we can't make the MoFo the fun it once was! =D

I miss Dane and his kooky non-Charmin-squeezing campain.

Oh Dane, where art thou? The Charmin squeezing is starting to get out of hand.

...which is kind of an oxymoron once you think about it...

Personally, since there's an SPA, it feels a little dirty to me to be zany in MFC.

Except on special occasions.

I hate Nostalgia.

I honestly can't see why anyone would sit around and complain about how much better the forum used to be instead of trying to make it better for everyone now.

It makes me sick, really.

Holy crap, Dane.. if by Dane you meant Danehog (which I think is also the name he came on here on)... I remember freakin' meeting that kid when I was still on AOL... he was like... 9, I think. I was. . . what, 14? 15? Cool kid, wonder where his ass is at.

I remember when Sonic Underground came out, he was like I CAN'T CATCH IT, and then I caught it once, recorded, and hated it, and thus passed on the hate to him. For whatever reason, I just go hey, call me, I'll let you listen to like, 5 minutes of that crap (this was the time when high speed was like unheard of and OMG RICH PEOPLES), and I did, and he cracked up and hated it... I dunno, it was awesomely different.

ANYWAY, yes, I miss the zaniness and the carefree. And I blame the fact that I grew up. A lot... well, a lot more than I would like. I've actually sat and tried to bring the funness back. I tried re-doing PiE for a second time... didn't work. I dunno, mind's in the gutter, I s'pose. But I seriously miss it when it was younger, more carefree, and a lot of the people with a BRAIN in their noggin visited more often. Now it's full of noobs and little kids who got a hold of the internets first before they came across some manners and a thought process.

I think that's the main problem with the internet altogether though; now everyone and their brother can get on the damn thing easily.

I miss'm old times.

Edit: I also miss being able to use my HTML sig. Dammit, it never had resetted, either, but NOOO, I HAD to go into my preferences. Go figure.

2) Shaaaaaaane. Actually I barely knew him.

I miss Pat L, and his ranting and raving about SEGA rejoining the console competition.

And I miss how the RP Guild used to be. Nowadays there's not many things in there which will attract my attention.

And the EZ Chat. Oh lordy, good times RPing in there, and all the fights because of the RPs. Good times, good times.

The skits. Haven't seen a good skit in ages.

It's become so boring here ever since the whole SonicPanther/Phoenix Wright/Zontar thing ended. =(

Well, I've lurked here for a long time before I joined and I must say: I miss when people were incredibly excited that a new Sonic game was coming and that kind of joy seemed to be around the whole board. Then Sonic Heroes came and everything's seemed so... cynical since then. Eh, maybe it's just me. I come here mainly for Sonic talk, and when the only news seems like bad news, I don't visit as much.

Actually, NelStone's right on the money, here. The enthusiasm level's pretty much DEAD for any Sonic game coming out these days, which kind of sucks the joy out of the fandom, really. (Comic fandom is separate, and therefore doesn't count - sounds like it's in a relative upswing right now, anyway.)

As none of you know, I got old and grew up. I've had internet access since I was 13 and was a regular at TSF (The Sonic Foundation). I remember when Dan Drazen first uploaded his fics. When song fics first made their was into MoFo. I miss reading those. Heck even remember they did one usingn "Time of Your Life" by Green Day and then posted a couple of follow up stories. I miss the old ppl. And, like FredrikH I doubt that I remeber nicks. Most of them are all grown up by now and I'm not sure if they are still around. Although, I doubt it.

Yeah I miss old times. Even if I never posted I have always been around. Couldn't find my old password so I had to make a bloody new account...

Yes, It's simple to do though, and takes you all of two seconds.

Best to sign up now rather than waiting until when we eventually move.

I miss when FlashChat was all ooh and ahh and new and all this cool stuff that SleazyChat didn't have. But we're all used to it now and we take it for granted.

Then again, I'm not real sure how to change that, but...
