Considering that VH1 has been taking us on this nostalgic trip through each decade, theres always gonna be a few people out there that will bicker about inane subject matters that werent covered. Well, unfortuntly im one of those people. This whole week VH1 has aired a sequal to the I Love the 90s special, tackling the popculture that was supposedly cut out from the original. The issue i have these specials, is that they get these over 30 comedians and basically crap all over the decade. All they do within these 10 hours of summing up the 90s is bash and insult everything. Yes i understand theyre comedians, but knowing that i was a teenager in the 90s, the decade didnt suck.
This brings me to my next rant. All the stuff they covered appeals to people who are in thier 30s. They never mentioned about 16bit video games, SNICK, Old Nickeldeon shows, and Cartoons. Its like they completly neglect the fact that kids from ages 16-25 are more of popculture experts than these washed up celebrities. This special wouldve improved significantly if they had people within that aforementioned age demographic. Plus i doubt wed insult the tv shows and video games of the past, cause we grew up with that. As for these B-stars VH1 payed for, they know crap about that stuff. Now the one thing that really pissed me off, is the absense of Sonic the Hedgehog. Im bewildered at the fact how they left out the most popular icon of the 90s. I guess the point im making is that VH1 needs to focus its nostalgia shows towards the people that actually grew up in the time and not put it down cause they were adults at the time.
