Senator Orrin "Rock and Roll" Hatch's Induce Act is the "biggest threat to the internet in 20 years" according to the Consumer Electronics Association and this Wired article. In a recent statement, Hatch suggested p2p companies were evil, inducing children to steal and engage in immoral behavior. His law, which critics claim is overly broad and will be abused, would increase the penalties for creating peer to peer applications, and also render everything from VCRs to MP3 players, also known as basically anything that could be used for piracy, illegal. Hatch co-authored the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, perhaps the most controversial law in US copyright history.
