I've been taking a trip down memory lane today...with the help of S3&K on Sonic Mega Collection Plus...ah, the memories those games revive...!
And along with these memories comes the reminder of a fun game I often play on any old skool Sonic game with Tails on...namely: "See how many different ways you can find to make Tails kick the bucket"^^
I always had fun doing this, then I wondered...would anybody on the MoFo have ideas for killing him that I hadn't even thought of? Post them here! How do you deal with that annoying little brat...I mean...cute little kid that follows you around like a virus? What do you do to get some free time away from the little orange one?
Some of my favorite methods are as follows:
Sonic 2:
Chemical Plant Zone, just after the final boss. Make Tails stand on the flipping platforms as they turn over, dropping him into the sludge below.
Metropolis Zone, before boss. On that long moving platform section on the way to the boss, move to the edge and make Tails overshoot, dropping him into the abyss!
Sonic 3:
Hydrocity Zone: Get a water shield (so you can breathe underwater) and drown him! He's so faithful he won't even swim off for air!
Marble Garden Zone: Stand him on one of the places where spikes pop up from the floor, wait a few seconds then watch him fly!
Ice Cap Zone: Freeze him in one of the nitro-fountains^^
Sonic 3 & Knux:
Mushroom Hill Zone: This is hard to do, but if you get it right it's a doozy! At the bit at the beginning of the level, where Knux comes out of the doorway and hits the switch to close it, run in at full speed, then stop right at the edge. Tails should overshoot and drop down to the floor below. Before he jumps back up, turn round and spin-attack the other way. If you're quick enough you can press the button before Tails gets out, trapping him in the room!
Flying Battery Zone: You just know Dr. Robotnik put all those flamethrowers out for a reason! Roasted Fox, anyone?
Sandopolis Zone: Act 1 Boss. Get Tails to drop into the quicksand on the far left, then hold the down button. He will duck same as Sonic, but he will be sinking in the sand as he does so...
Sky Sanctuary Zone: Lots of ledges high up in the air, with no guard rails...need I say more?

Debug mode is a fox-killer's best friend. You can make some fiendish traps for Tails utilising it. I remember my brother would create a labyrinth of star bumpers in Casino Night Zone, and then hop out of debug while I make Tails jump inside it. It's almost entirely up to luck whether you make it out or if Tails is doomed to ping around in there until his brain flies out his ear.
And the fun with spikes you could have.. and crushers! And making a series of platforms that move in and out of the underwater, walled-off area you create, that Tails has to manage to use with correct timing to reach the surface before he drowns ![:]](https://www.lighthead.net/misc/mofo/smilies/biggrinshaded.gif)
Here's a way you can kill him in Sonic Advance 3:
Just have him as you partner and choose any character and you need to be in the Zone 1 hub area. After you leave the huge ring that leads to the Factory region, run forward and break the wall that leads to the bottom. Push the switch there so the spring pops up and run just to the left of the spring (be careful so you don't spring yourself up, though). Since Tails is following behind you, he should most likely be launched up by the spring. Now, quickly go back left, and if you've done it right, Tails should fall back down THROUGH the foreground and die!!
You can repeat this as many times as you like, and with any character as your partner!
In SA, I just like to beat the **** out of that little ingrate for grabbing all the animals I don't want. >>
Sonic Advance Tails-killer:
Use the code that enables you to play as Sonic w/ Tails. (For those who don't know/forgot it's Up, Left, Down, Left, L Button, Left, R Button, Left, A) Choose any "Act 2" Stage and play through until you beat the boss. Position yourself near the center of the screen. The metal capsule w/ the animals inside falls down and squishes Tails. (Note if you don't place yourself in the right spot Tails will get stunned, but recover and do the victory dance with you. But if you stood in the right spot, he stays trapped underneath the capsule. Ouch!)
Whenever I played Sonic 3 with a friend, I'd get to one of those places in Marble Garden Zone where you have to spindah against a blue bumper thing, and it lowers some staircases - and I'd tell my friends to make Tails run under and stand under the platforms and watch what happens. Lots of fun =D
