Was Metal sonic kai created with the ability to transform?
Ex:The final form in Chaotix or the the full powered Metal Madness.
I was under the impression that Metal Sonic Kai in Chaotix was built with his transformation ability, but could only activate it by absorbing the power of the Dark Chaos Ring - before he transforms, Metal plugs himself into the combi-confiner (which is itself powered by the Dark Ring).
Metal Madness, on the other hand, is self-built as it were - by copying Chaos's lifeform data and combining it with the lifeform data of everyone else, Metal effectively 'built' Metal Madness himself - though I think the original upgrade of copying lifeform data was given to him by Eggman before Metal went rogue.
At least, that's how I read it. I could very well be wrong!
Right, where exactly are we getting the name "Metal Sonic Kai" from? The only Metal Sonic I know of is... well, Metal Sonic. And that Mecha Sonic/Silver Sonic thing.
The name Metal Sonic Kai comes from a translated Japanese Knuckles Chaotix Manual.
If your wondering why he has that name its because he was destroyed in Sonic CD and his main cpu, sub cpu, and memory was recovered by Eggman and his body was rebuilt and he got a new power source installed "the Dark Ring Power". Metal also got a newly installed "plazner" component that gave him a new skill called the Plasma Pulse Attack"Metal shoots a laser from the hole in his chest"
Is it truly confirmed that the final boss is Metal Sonic? I thought it was still up for debate because once you defeat MS while hooked up to that...thing, Eggman and Sonic escape in that ring, then giant red MS suddenlly appears. No transformation, sound, or anything.
Having never played Chaotix first hand, I hadn't realised there was doubt as to who the final mech was - it could be possible that Eggman and Metal escaping through that ring (I'm assuming the ring is the Dark Ring?) could be them tapping into it's energy, and thus they reappear in the giant mech form, possibly Metal transformed into the mech via the ring energy and Eggman driving. However, that's complete speculation - I guess we'll never really know for sure.

Wait Metal shoots a energy blast from his head? I always thought the blast came from the hole in his chest, like the sprite shows when you wait for more than 2 mins or the 3d model in sonic the fighters.
I thought it was confirmed that Metal absorbed the power from the dark ring and took on that red form,I thought it had somthing to do with him being powered/reactivated by dark ring energy.
That threw me too. It might be something in the language barrier, but in-game he definitely fires lasers from the hole on his body, I don't recall him ever firing energy attacks from his head.
Well, maybe it meant "torso", which is the chest and the head, and it got messed up from there. *shrugs*
Or maybe it meant the Head [vortex] unit. Since that center hole is like the booster/vortex. I have no idea, lol.
After defeating Metal Madness, you battle the Metal Overload with Super Sonic, Super Tails, and Super Knuckles.
