Gentlemen. I propose a race around the weekend in 180 emblems. Starting at the end of this post, and closing on Monday morning, contestants who wish to participate shall attempt to complete Sonic Adventure 2 (or SA2B) with all 180 emblems. The gentleman with the lowest time, or the highest number of emblems at the end of the weekend shall be hailed winner!
I'd think up a prize for this, but I really can't think of one. Perhaps 20 PayPal, as insentive? But then people might try to cheat...
Either way, it's all for fun as a warm up to the Double Sonic event next weekend.
Whomever reads this now has a 2 hour headstart until I get home from work. Good luck!
(and PS: raising Chao for this event is not mandatory, but I am because I'm a daredevil and haven't played the DC version in 2 years)

16.29: Bored at work and eager to get home and get started. Coffee intake = 1. Also refreshing memory of upgrade locations with GameFAQs.
17.51: Game started and coffee in hand. Playing without the power-ups is... different
20:00: I SUCK! I'm doing so awfully. Death Chamber and Eternal Engine alone stalled me for half an hour. I'm paused for coffee #3 on Final Rush. I just want to get to the A Rank hunt ASAP.
20.51: After a coffee break which turned into dinner break I got back and KILLED Final Rush with an A Rank. Sadly I've been breaking for internet so often that THS is beating me >.>
22:20: Just finished Dark with extreme ease, only Mad Space, Weapons Bed and Radical Highway failed to offer me A ranks, and the latter were just because I got lazy and wanted a speed run rather than striving for the A's like I did with Heroes. Will now break for 4th coffee and then complete last, the boss/kart emblems. THEN the fun bit 😀
00:26: The all consuming rage of my DC crashing after a 26 minute run on the boss stages. 🙁
Day 2
12:33: Started at 10:30 - I HATE THE ROUTE LEVELS! I did all of Tails' and am stuck on Rouges. To remedy, I am finishing the angsthogs levels. All A rank first try. It shames me that I'm better with the hog I hate...
13:24: All A Ranks for Shadow! *Ganondorf laugh*
15:36: Have lost all sense of structure... completing random missions. B's and C's seeping through. Tails Doll mocking me, saying I can't hack it. Coffee isn't curing the focus problem. Losing skill. Can't hack it. Final Rush again. NO MORE!
18:44: 9 hours in. 100 emblems gained. My mind has snapped like a thin twig, the batteries on the Craig Cam have depleted and I can't remember where I put the Pink Floyd. Tails Doll must have hid it, that's the only explination. Tails Doll has been a thorn in my side since the start, starring at me, calling me names. I threw him in a cage and he keeps goading me as I play "SCHLLLUUUURPPPPY! SCHLLUUUURRRPY!" am forgetting what games I enjoy taste like. The only thing that keeps me sane is the fact that this is preventing me playing Kingdom Hearts CoM and is preparing me for the horror of Shadow next week... I have to eat. I have to get away from the DC. Tails Doll is calling...

If only I had SA2:B...and if I did have a State quarter-final Football (American...not soccer...) game to manage, I would definitely consider...cause that twenty paypal sounds pretty good...it would help pay for my sonic comics and that Famicom/Disk System that I want to get from ebay...

I can't even get 180 emblems in six months, I don't like my chances in fourty-eight hours. I think I got up to about 90 emblems then gave up and just Action Replayed the rest. Except for the Chao and Kart Race emblems... no code, and I'm still stuck. I'm never gonna see that Green Hill Zone.
ETA: Craig, I saw your picture and I immediately thought "Rupert Grint". Sorry =p. And Timeout! I thought that was only available in Australia.

I'd love to participate. Whether I will or not tho is yet to be decided, but I'm sure I'll be one of the lower contenders - as of right now, my first (and currently only) save on SA2B still doesn't have 180 emblems (if only for the last two chao things left, one being the Karate Super League that I've yet to beat, the other being the Dark Races my current Chao can't enter >>), and it's clocked at around 100-odd hours...
...and now i wanna try and finish it off again. Hmm. *goes to do so, seeing as he#s finished the two games recently added to his list, save for a few small bits*

Yeah, I couldn't be bothered to do second-by-second updates today. So sue me, they were bumping the topic constantly anyway. It's about 7:05pm (so nearly 48 hours since I started), and I'm throwing in the towel, methinks. I've got 172 emblems (Lacking only the 6 A Rank emblems for each character and the two Chao emblems mentioned above), and a game time of 12:46:27 (well, if you include the time spent trying to get A ranks before deciding it'll take longer than it's worth, 13:14:02).
Now I need to give my head and eyes a much-needed rest. =P
Heh I would probably do this if I hadn't already restarted SA2:B again. I have all 180 emblems, but dare I try to collect them all in a little less than two days.(can't play past 5 on Saturdays and none at all on Sundays not to mention I have stuff to do tomorrow, that will take up a good bit of time) Anywho, cool idea Craig.

Meh, i got all 180 emblems in much less than 41 hours and here is the photo of the emblem results screen. I may not be able to prove i did it in less than 20 hours but i play SA2B a lot so many hours have passsed in game time since i got all emblems. My only reasons for doing this is proving to my male cousin females can be just as good as anyone else. And the green hill zone level unlocked of course! 
But seriously, is that a good time even though hours in game time have passed since i got all the emblems? I also have a photo for 83 hours for all 130 emblems on SADX but thats not the point of this topic and many, many hours passed since i got all emblems on that too.

Sounds like a cool idea, but I don't think anything short of a million dollars or the promise of true love or something cool like that would make me try to get all the emblems on that awful outer space level with Rouge.

Um, ZUH?
It can easily be done within 15 hours, including raising 3 Chao for the races and doing the stupidly long boss battle missions (45 minutes for all 3 >.>)
It's all a matter of knowing the game and having enough skill for Sonadow, enough luck for Rouckles and enough patience to endure the slowness of Eggails.

Apologies for brining this up again after a week of inactivity, but did we ever get a final verdict on this? I posted my final results at the end of my progress post, but it seems Wonder never gave a final emblem count. o.o
I actually got stuck at 179 emblems due to the game absolutely refusing to give me Eggman's All A-rank despite the fact that I went over all the stages with A's again just to be sure.

I have a Super Nintendo that's 14 years old and it works just as well as my PS2 and GCN.
The batteries on a couple of games (EarthBound )have crapped out, but that's got nothing to do with the system.
I'd say my NES works fine as well, but unfortunately that's no longer the case.
I do, however, have an original Gameboy which has been retired from action after surviving 14 years, two run-ins with the family car, a couple good gnawings-on by a pit bull, a two-story drop onto a gravel driveway, and being left out in the rain too many times to count, including spending an entire winter frozen under the snow.
My point? Nintendo products die hard, so don't count the Gamecube out.
I'm bumping this thing because as soon as my Dreamcast shows up in the mail, I wanna try this. Will Edit soon. I plan to rip off craig. But whatever. Goodnight.

Nice idea. However, I definitley will not be participating as I finally, for the first time since I got that game like 4 years ago, got all 180 not a month ago.
And let me tell you: No force on this earth will ever make me go through that hellish nightmare of a quest again. If I ever see Cosmic Wall again in a thousand years, it'll be too soon.
