It seems Sega has forgotten about him and few of the Sonic fans realy care. We haven't seen him in games for nearly a decade, and almost nobody refers to him as "Fang". However, three of the Chaotix appeared in Heroes, so it may be a possibility. But Vector, Charmy, and Espio were a bit more popular, even before Heroes. But Nack still has more fans than some characers, although we probobly won't be seeing them. Though it would make the coolest game if you could play as Rouge, Knuckles, and Nack in search of the Chaos and Master emeralds as Nack and Knuckles compeed for Rouge's love.
Rouge could have had a slight crush on Knuckels at the end of SA2, but I don't see why you think Knuckles had any feelings for her. o.o Also, Fang is supposed to be too engrossed in his own well being to focus on an other.
If he didnt reappear in Heroes I cant see him returning, as that was the one that seemed to dragg up old elements IE. Chaotix, Metal Sonic, numerous references to old games...
Hopefully the next Sonic game will be something new...

I hope so. If you look on the official Sonic website, the characters page has an entry for Fang the Sniper. (that's what the call him on the site). There's also an entry for Metal Sonic, and he reappeared, making Fang the only character on that site that has yet to reappear. So here's hoping that this means something, besides they needed another guy to put on the bad side.

It's a pretty common thing in Segasonic to have a nickname. So far we have:
Dr. Ivo Robotnik: AKA Dr. Eggman
Miles Prower: AKA Tails
The Gizoid: AKA Emeral
Nack the Weasel: AKA Fang the Sniper
Amy Rose: AKA Rosie the Rascal
Shadow the Hedgehog: Angsty SobSob McBroodbrood

There'd be no need for any explanation or for him to be called anything other than just plain Fang the Sniper. The character is only really known amongst fans, and they already know what the deal is. Casual Sonic fans who got into the series through the UK comic don't exist any more. And the character barely ever appears in the US comic.
Fang's had three fingers and one thumb on each hand in every game and every piece of artwork, with the exception of the Sonic Drift 2 box, which I think we can safely write off as a mistake.
But "Fang" is so unoriginal! How many characters in the world have the name "Fang"? Hundreds. How many have the name "Nack"? One. See my point? Maybe they should just agree on "Nack the Sniper"...

While that is a personal peeve of mine, what I find more disturbing is the physically impossible contortion of his legs...

Nack should have been in Team Dark in Heroes. Maybe as the power, by modifying that gun of his. It would have certainly been better than inventing and then killing off a brand new robot for no apparrent reason.

I wouldn't say that they no longer exist. You don't think there are fans whose experience of Sonic is limited to StC (or Archie) and some more recent games? It would be quite easy for any Sonic fan not to know of Nack's existence but not know that he is also called Fang.
Particlarly because Nack was the featured villain in a fairly major Archie story still in recent memory (#122-#123's Hearts Held Hostage) and he is the featured villain (or one of two?) in #150-#151. Since Archie makes big deals about multiples of 25, this probably means Nack is going to return in a big way.
That's still a very small amount of consumers, and I doubt that many of them will even worry about the character's name being different between game and comic.
Sega shouldn't let the tail wag the dog just out of fear of a handful of people momentarily being slightly confused or curious.

"Sonic" is unoriginal, let's call him Gyiddumud instead.

I suspect they will. If they can do it for Eggman, Fang should be no problem.
You know if you had asked me this prior Heroes I would say no way. Post Heroes & Pre-Shadow the Hedgehog I would say possibly, but now Post(announcement of)-Shadow the Hedgehog I say why the heck not. I see no reason for him not to come back. Metal's come back, Vector, Espio, etc. And now Shad has his own game...anything could happen.
Personally, I'd love to see Fang return. He has potential IMO, and I feel with the way SonicTeam is going now...Fang might return next-gen. Who knows?

Sorry, but I disagree.
I think Fang is the most plausible choice of the two, mainly because it shares the same name type as most other characters, which is usually a common word that characterizes it.
A gun fight between Fang and Shadow should be interesting...and funny ^^
Forgotten, humiliated, and goodness knows what else; I say- where's the dignity, SEGA, where's the dignity -_-...
I wouldn't say Fang is completely forgotten by Sonic Team.
Though he hasn't appeared in any recent Sonic game they did have a bio for Fang on Sonic Central.
Not to mention all those appearances of Fang in games such as Sonic Triple Trouble or Sonic Drift 2, which are being ported to Gems Collection. Just like the Chaotix, he may return in the near future. I think of the compilation as a perfect way to allow people who don't know Fang to get to know him better, so that he could possibly return as a villain in a future Sonic title (and stay as one too).

That was his betaname, before it was changed. CulT had a scanned article of Sonic Triple Trouble, which used that name "Jet the Sniper" to describe him. You can view it here.
I was thinking the same thing that they should have nack alot more,but like all the recent games everyone is going to forget about Mobius.I think sonic team should of had nack instead of Rouge.Sonic team has just brought to much new characters and overlook some of the good characters.Nack has always been one of my favorite characters and it's sad to see him just get pushed around like that.

Actually, he WAS called Nack in the games: namely, his FIRST FARKING APPEARANCE: Sonic Triple Trouble. SoA even kept the name "Nack the Weasel" when they included it in SADX
