I actually liked that show, but I noticed that it has a mediocre rating on imdb.com. It doesn't make any sense. Could somebody enlighten me on just what was wrong with Sonic-X ?

This thread belongs in SI more than MFC -> http://mobiusforum.net/forums/10

I've noticed that you've been posting many threads out of place, perhaps you should look around with the mofo's forums and it's threads first before you make any more.

Before this is moved to South Island, I'll say "Yes. It does have more haters than fans".

I just happen to be a fan. My theory is that those who remember being young while the American cartoons were on have their own image of what Sonic is in their mind, and the arguement I often hear is that a card selecting Eggman and F1 car police officers are not it.

But character wise, they really hit the spot, for me, on Knuckles, Tails and Sonic. I will always adore the show and am sad that it's gone.

I'm willing to bet it has more fans than haters though the majority of fans are most likely the ones who are not allowed to sign up on message boards or go on the internet without parental guidance. Those kids who watched the show are probably the main reason why Sonic games still sell and the series has not faded to obscurity yet. Ten years later those same kids will reminiscence how fondly they liked the show no matter how mediocre it really was exactly in the very same way how adults who grew up with the old Sonic cartoons despite being pretty mediocre also. 😀

Yea I am a fan too. I plan to get the Dvds someday. I miss it as well. I remember waking up every Saturday to watch that show. Really fun little series.

Sonic X wasn't bad, but it wasn't that good either.

Knuckles got completely screwed in the intelligence department. I lost count of how many times he got duped by Eggman. The others weren't that brilliant either, since they risked a Chaos Emerald on a game of baseball. That was probably the dumbest episode I ever saw.

I despise the voice 4Kids gave Gamma. For too high pitched and squeaky, nothing at all like the deep baritone voice he had in SA1.

Quoted for truth

I really loved the characterisations - Tails had some independence and a fairly laissez faire attitude to Sonic. As he put it (paraphrased), Sonic does his own thing, you don't always know where he is or what he's doing, but if you need him, he'll be there in a second. Sonic was pretty laid-back, but would go to the ends of the earth to cheer up someone like Cream with a pretty flower. Knuckles was gruff and actually appeared to have more than a passing interest in the Master Emerald, but deep down you also knew the gang could count on him.

I've really got to find time to watch all the eps again...

Somebody never played any Sonic game pre-Heroes.

There are some who like the original japanese over the dub. But to me, watching it in its original form didn't do much to improve how lame the first season was. Does copy pasting the games plot and just rewriting them slightly in order to add in random humans count as good story telling?

Season 2 was ok. It wasn't as lazy at least. But I thought the idea of the main villian was kinda iffy but at least it had more suspense. Like the episode where Shadow tries to kill Cosmo and Tails is protecting her. Thats probably my favorite episode.

If Metal Sonic had been in this show I may have liked it better.

Are DVD's slated for SonicX anytime soon. I would have liked/watched the show more had I been able to find the damn time it was on in the mornings whilst in college, but they kept switching it on me, hence I gave up.

DL, the domestic DVDs as far as I know, has been available for awhile now. Though they are English dubbed-only(basically the 4Kids version).

However, if you live in a region 2 area, then I can't really help you.

Anyways, I thought the English version was pretty lousy(I mean worse than the original) due to some of the VA and the fact they replaced the music to really generic stuff that don't really fit the context of scenes at all.

Nonsense, their generic battle music was totally better than playing Live and Learn during the FinalHazard Battle.

Especially, because people hyped up the raw/sub version of that scene.

I don't think that's quite fair, Knux in 3&K came off more as fairly wily and smart, but oh so gullible since he had no basis for interaction with others.

Knux in Sonic Adventure

I always took it that Knuckles was still fairly untrusting of Sonic in SA, and when he found Robotnik wasn't after the Master Emerald shards he was willing to believe Sonic was, plus it was rather a new experience if you think about it, the ME, as far as we know, had never shattered before.

I really liked his personality in SA1, he was naive but not dumb, plus more like the good old version in Sonic the Comic I love. I really don't like how he's become since then, or Amy.

Sonic X had its moments, the first and last episodes are good, as is the Adventure adaption, in Japanese anyway, 4Kids truly destroyed Gamma, and he's the best of the post Dreamcast characters so far.

The main problem I have with the series is Chris, he just felt like an unnecessary addition, purely to worry about Sonic, take other characters' role (I won't list 'em now, but if you want I will), and was often used to make us feel sorry for him, despite being rich, having a family looking after him, lots of friends, and gets to hang around with Sonic. If he were a normal kid, with a pretty dull life, nothing special, it could have worked great, but he just came off as spoiled to me.

All said, I never watched the last season, the main for the rest of the world and not Japan season where they traveled through space. I've been told I should and I may do at some point, though I doubt I'll fall for the series due to it.

I bought them as they came out but I've heard that 4kids re-released the first 52 episodes as 13 episode sets, for about 10 bucks each, so that's something to keep an eye out for. I know the Metarex episodes were released that way right off the bat, as "The Complete 5th Season" and "So Long, Sonic." I saw the re-release of the first 13 episodes titled as "The New World Saga" but I don't know the names of the others.

Well in Adventure he was looking for bits of a green emerald that you could hold in your hand. Sonic was holding a bit of green emerald in his hand. Knuckles is frustrated because he hasn't met rouge yet and dosn't know what the internet is for. Cue fight.

I have played Advance 2 so I'll presume he was hung over.
