Hey guys,

I was playing Sonic 2 for Game Gear today, and I think I found a new glitch--I say "new" because I checked this page's info, and also all the pages and FAQs at GameFAQs, and none of them mentioned it. I couldn't find the e-mail for this site's owner so I thought I'd post it here instead.

The glitch is this: if you hit a monitor while going REALLY FAST (fast enough that the monitor is off the screen before the explosion effect is done) you'll get whatever was in it, but the monitor will RESPAWN if you come back.

The best place to test this (and also a good place for infinite 1-ups) is in Sky High Zone Act 2. Just run off the platform you start on, avoid the bouncy cloud but once past it veer left. You should wind up on a platform with a slanted springboard. Run past it and ROLL (don't jump) off the platform. You should bounce off a one-up and right into another springboard that faces the way you came. Do this again and again for infinite one-ups.

There's a lot of monitors you sometimes hit by accident that will qualify for this effect too.

I don't know if this works in the SMS version, but I used it repeatedly in the GG version to build up a ton of extra lives. Its much easier and faster than the other infinite one-up tricks once you get the technique right.

Anyway, there's my contribution for the day. See ya.

Hi there newbie, and thanks for posting here in this forum, and I also wish I could see the exact same way you found this glitch, by seeing this visually. Also please do post in this message board alot more often.

Do you know any emulators that allow you to record movies of playing GG games? I know there are ones like that for the NES.

I have pictures I took with an emulator. Unfortunately Photobucket sucks now so I can't upload them, but is it okay if I e-mail you the pics and an HTML I wrote explaining the trick?

I dunno, if Sonic 2 is representative of the GG games, then I rather like them as a whole.

I liked Sonic Triple Trouble and Sonic Chaos more than Sonic 2. If they had the same physics as the genesis games, they would have been great. Too bad the SMS and GG versions seemed to have like half of the framerate of the Genesis games.

Sonic Triple Trouble is the best Sonic game gear game period.

Probably the best game gear game as well.

Sonic Triple Trouble wins solely for the Sunset Park Act 3 music.

Getting back on topic:

I just did this glitch in the Sonic Gems version of Sonic 2 as well.

The only thing I want to know now is if it works in the Master System version (I'm betting it doesn't).

Getting back off-topic:

I don't expect the GG games to be like the Genesis ones. Smaller viewing area and being ported down to an 8-bit system kinda put the kibosh on that. That being said I think they're as close as you can reasonably get on lesser hardware.

I haven't played Triple Trouble yet, mostly because the only Sonic GG games I actually own are Sonic 2 and Sonic Chaos. I'm borrowing Gems right now but I'm thinking of getting Sonic Adventure DX for the unlockable GG games (I hear DX has all of them while Gems only has some of them).
