What was the one moment you had in a Sonic game that was near impossible for you? You can give any event or game, but to keep it somewhat diverse, you can't say the you-know-what. And any true Sonic fan knows exactly what's you-know-what I'm talking about. But if you don't, it's.... Spoilers (Select To Read): The Barrel from Sonic 3
For me, the hardest moment was Sonic 2 for Game Gear. And getting all the emblems in Sonic Adventure 2 (still haven't gotten all of them. Dumb Chao, dumb hard mode.)
Doing Knuckles's Cannons Core without the Air Necklace. I didn't find that thing until I did the find the chao mission. But I did it. And I felt good.
I went to gamefaqs after I couldn't beat Knuckles level...Then I learned about the stupid necklace...
The hardest moment for me were those stupid "Get the Emerald" levels in Sonic Heroes...I was so frustrated I just sold the game and didn't even bother trying to get to the final battle...
The second hardest thing was trying to do the Sonic 3 codes to work...
Five words: Antlion Boss of Underground Zone.
That boss was a pain to fight. To this day, I can barely beat him.
The robotnik beetle. I have images of drills in my nightmares because of that damn thing!!
Or the Biolizard. I don't know if he was the number one issue. But he was up there.
The hardest ones that I have faced so far is the final level of Sonic Spinball and the 7th emerald of Sonic Advance 3 because to this day I have not beaten either and Sonic Rush's final emerald looks like it's going to be a pain. Though, one of the hardest things for me that I did beat are the emerald stages in SH which is the biggest problem I had with Sonic Heroes.
The Doomsday Zone of Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Getting there is a pain in and of itself. When I finally did, it took so many tries that I lost count lerning to beat it. To this day, it's my favorite boss.
Anyone who got stuck at the barrels lacks basic problem-solving and logic skills. Like, MONKEY basic.
Anyway, the hardest moment... well, the closest I can come up with is the inescapable spike pit of absolute and certain DOOM in Sonic 2's Mystic Cave zone with Super Sonic. When I was but a young lad and playing Sonic 2 for the first time, I could never react fast enough to save myself from 50 seconds of standing there trying futilely to scale the slick, unforgiving rock face and get out of the jaws of my spikey fate.
For me it is trying to get that damned 7th Chaos Emerald in Sonic Rush! I swear I spent hours playing that same special stage over and over again!
I spent hours at Security Hall in SA2 for some reason... I hated that level.
robotnik's base as rouge in SA2, as her emerald radar was telling me 'red!! it's nearby!' for an entire corridor. took me two hours as i slowly dig my way along each wall and tried rooms nearby. ox;
the you-know-what never effected me. thank the lord for debug mode! 😛

I agree! I've never had any trouble with it. What's so hard about it people?

Five words: Antlion Boss of Underground Zone.
Glad I'm not the only one! I didn't want to say, because having trouble with the first boss is kinda embarrasing, but it's definitely too hard for a first boss.
Crazy Gadget. The only Sonic stage that has ever made me throw my Dreamcast or Gamecube controller in the hopes of breaking it.
I seriously dread playing the Hero Side just because of that stupid stage. I have never been able to get past it in under five tries (because of the very end, when Sonic likes to float his happy *** into oblivion and camera decides it wants to point in the opposite direction I need to see in...). Heck, the first time I beat it, I practically did a holy dance in the middle of my living room, I must have played the stage like 30 times and that's not counting before I had to take a "break" to keep from breaking my poor Gamecube.
This, and getting that stupid 7th Chaos Emerald in Sonic Rush. I have to keep remembering a DS cost more than a controller to keep from throwing it.
The only problem I have is the stupid pits in Shadow the Hedgehog. That is the hardest Sonic Game (debate? Some say it is a Sonic game, others say it is not) I have ever played. Way to many for my comfort. At least the camera is far better then it was with the SA engine in SA1 and Heros (did not play SA2, though I assume it was the same engine as SA and Heros). What is the engine in Shadow called anyway? Is it new or is it an updated version of the SA engine?
Shadow CERTAINLY ran on the Heroes engine. Early videos of the game even showed the lighted springs, and various other Heroes familiarities. All of the character models are imported from Heroes. It's just a mild tweak of the engine.
The Team Chaotix missions in Heroes. God, the SUCK! OH GOD, THE SUCK! ><
Sonic Advance 3- Sunset Hill Boss and the Twinkle Snow Boss.
Seriously, in Twinkle Snow, I lost like, a lot of lives trying to hop from platform to platform and kept getting hit by that spike ball that was G-mel...
Sonic Advance 2- Special Stages 6 and 7
Those things were a pain, because I was going really fast and had to make sudden 90-degree turns. If I went too slow, then I'd get hit by Zero.
I only completed the game due to level select...
No, it NEVER occured to me you could make them move up and down. I played the level 2000 times and I never saw them move by staying on them ad pressing up and down.
I had seen them bounce when you jumped off them, so I tried that, but it just wasnt enough...
I'm with Swifthorn. I beat the game the first time with level select, too. In fact, it wasn't until about year after I had found level select that I found the up down trick. And I was 15. So sad!
All gold, silver, and bronze medals in Sadv3, Espacally the silver and bronze medals for the Twinkle Snow Boss(Is it even possible to get a bronze on it without waiting at the start or end?)
I'd say the old A-Rank challenges on SA2, notably Metal Harbor. Nothing else has ever been "difficult" for me...frustrating maybe, but that's not the same.
The hardest one for me was Sonic 1, Green Hill Zone; Act 1.
It was SO hard!!! Those friggin' spikes kept on killing me!
Hmm... ok, I'll engage the topic at hand rather than an off-hand comment someone made in it, because I don't do that enough these days.
Hardest moment for me... dang that's a toughie.
Oh, wait, what am I talking about?! No it's not!
MISSION 4: DON'T TOUCH THE WALLS.
Good one Craig. Wait: Here's one:
Radical Highway: Mission 4 - Reach the Goal within THREE. MINUTES.
That's actually VERY easy if you know the correct shortcuts.
1. Jump around the left side of the spring room, there'll be an invincibility and it'll save you time.
2. When you land from this there'll be springs leading to a round section which takes you to a higher level, if you hold jump after hitting the spring and homing attack at the right time, you'll hit the upper level saving 15-25 seconds.
3. Take the upper route on the broken bridge, sliding along the sides takes too long and so does the bottom route. Also, instead of swinging onto the barrel things, run on the little connecting section.
2.40 time, easy.
That's actually VERY easy if you know the correct shortcuts.
he's right you know i played like that. plus don't fight the robots it'll just slow you down and careful not to get runover by cars a good advice in life and game.
i'm nearly always 20 seconds out, so i'll have to try those shortcuts. ^^

MISSION 4: DON'T TOUCH THE WALLS.
To this day I have never completed that mission, let alone got an A. I'll never get 2P Chaos. =( I have all Rouge A's in every level but Route 666- I mean 280, and Mad space, which is close to A's.
Don't touch the walls is quite easy, I don't see what the problem is about it. Don't suck at driving the greasemobile and you'll do fine.
What is so hard about the "you know what"
Never had a single problem with it myself.
I'd say the one thing that took me longest to beat was that damn death egg boss in sonic & knuckles.
Also the forth special stage in the same game was a nightmare!!
Those bloody "run around the ARK and find things" levels in Shadow the Hedgehog.
Ahh crap.
I was vacuming the stairs and I suddenly remembered what the "you know what was".
Appologies, I did have trouble with it!!
I been stuck a the you know what for 12 years (I had no idea how to get past it), or atleast I was. I guess a thing I really had trouble with was the last special stage in Sonic Heroes. I had a lot of trouble getting the last chaos emerald.
Welcome KF5, to the MoFo. We hope you enjoy your stay here and all the wackiness that will assuredly be experienced. Please be aware that we will be moving here soon(at first it was Feb, than March, now we don't know when we will exactly move), and we hope you will make the move with us. If you wish to make a intro topic please make it here. Have fun!!!
I have never been able to get past [Crazy Gadget] in under five tries (because of the very end, when Sonic likes to float his happy *** into oblivion and camera decides it wants to point in the opposite direction I need to see in...)
Oooo.... That level requires nothing but practice. Completing it over and over and over again. As for the end, well.... I'm not entirely sure how to do it correctly, but if you take the shortcut I do at the end, you can A) complete it in well under five minutes, 4:30 if you're speedy and finished the rest of the level quickly, and 2) avoid a lot of button pressing and headaches with wonky camera angles and gravity changing. I'll be glad to share it if you're interested. ^^
As for my most difficult moment? I would have to say the first time I encountered that level, I was really ticked off as well.
Death Chamber's 100 rings level made me very mad, but again, practiced it many many times, learned the locations of every single ring, and just went for it till I got that A.
Only other thing I can think of is Sandopolis Zone, Act 2, which I have only beaten twice to this day without help. >_o;
