Please do not brutally attack this for it is only a mere THOUGHT... The music for sonic.. i can imagine maybe in the next rush sequel or whatever or maybe in the 3d games.. that the music plays at a somewhat slow pace when sonic is just standing there.. but then when he starts to walk the music gains a lil more speed to it and when he is running at his top speed its fast but not like.. dragonforce fast.. XD I have said before that i thought some iron maiden music would be great for sonic not the lyrics but the music itself.. i can give atleast 2 examples of iron maiden songs that fit sonic pretty well .. futureal is an old iron maiden song but its fast paced and ocassional precussion which makes me think everytime there is a precussion he is hitting a springboard and barrelling forward even faster or defeating an enemy.. another song Lord of Light fits the music idea i had earlier its a very slow meek song but in bit over a minute or so it picks up speed but again this is my idea.. and opinion..

Most of the time you can get that effect from speed shoes, if there isn't a track that replaces it.

Sounds like the Monkey Ball esque sections in Super Mario Galaxy where the music speeds up when you begin to roll faster and faster. I like the idea but to have it happen for the whole game might get a bit annoying.

I just got Galaxy, so I was immediately reminded of that, too. But it also reminds me a little of the music system that the original NiGHTS had, where the music would become altered depending on the mood of the Nightopians.

As for Nack's idea, just have the option to turn it off in case it annoys the player. More games need a myriad of little tweaking options. I liked being able to switch the vocals on or off in Sonic R - Sonic games really need that option to return.

Oh yeah, sure. This kind of luciferian devil worship is PERFECT for the Sonic atmosphere. I'm sure parents would love their children listening to Satanic rock!

yea number of the beast is one of iron maiden's BEST albums.. what of it? I just mentioned that the fast paced music is fitting for sonic.. not all of Iron maiden's music pertains to satanic themes.. listen to some of them and u will understand that the ones i mentioned have nothing to do with it.. have u heard any of Zebrahead's work they did an Alternate version of the Sonic next gen theme His World, and just to inform you.. its not appropriate music either... but i digress..and to the galaxy reference; i nod to that except for the uber fast parts.. thats not what i meant by really fast.. but yeah.. to me..the iron maiden style of music matches sonic.. the fast paced moments atleast.. i dont like the idea of pop music for sonic.. unless its gonna be the sonic rush style of music then yeah; but ive liked the idea of the Attitude theme that the 3d games have had.. and POP music really doesnt make sonic seem badass.. but yeah.. again i digress.. another song that isnt satanic would be yellowcard's song the Takedown... just the music.. and something else before i forget.. How is music SATANIC?... all notes have been replaced by 6's? im not sure how that works..I never stated that their needed to be LYRICS... just music..

5. The Number Of The Beast

"Woe to you, Oh Earth and Sea, for the Devil sends the
beast with wrath, because he knows the time is short...
Let him who hath understanding reckon the number of the
beast for it is a human number, its number is Six hundred and sixty six."

I left alone my mind was blank
I needed time to think to get the memories from my mind

What did I see can I believe that what I saw
that night was real and not just fantasy

Just what I saw in my old dreams were they
reflections of my warped mind staring back at me

'Cos in my dream it's always there the evil face that twists my mind
and brings me to despair

The night was black was no use holding back
'Cos I just had to see was someone watching me
In the mist dark figures move and twist
Was this all for real or some kind of hell
666 the number of the beast
Hell and fire was spawned to be released

Torches blazed and sacred chants were praised
As they start to cry hands held to the sky
In the night the fires burning bright
The ritual has begun Satan's work is done
666 the number of the beast
Sacrifice is going on tonight

This can't go on I must inform the law
Can this still be real or just some crazy dream
But I feel drawn towards the evil chanting hordes
They seem to mesmerise me ... can't avoid their eyes
666 the number of the beast
666 the one for you and me

I'm coming back I will return
And I'll possess your body and I'll make you burn
I have the fire I have the force
I have the power to make my evil take it's course

---

Music is clearly Satanic when it tells its audience that "666 is the one for you and me". You can remove the lyrics, but that doesn't change the song. It's still recognizable as that wicked devil-worshiping music by Iron Maiden. And really, it doesn't matter if it's Satanic or not. Whether it's Number of the Beast, Invaders, or Children of the Damned, Iron Maiden's music is sick, disgusting, and immoral. I would never let talk of rape, murder, or "burning flesh" enter my household. And I think anybody would agree that kind of music is inappropriate for a childrens' game.

Don't tell me that you can't recognize the songs by removing their lyrics. The tunes are still there. Removing the lyrics won't change the song. And if I was a parent, I would feel that it's VERY inappropriate for my children to listen to.

Am I the only one?? Or do y'all think "Number of the Beast" should be playing in Green Hill Zone? I think that's sick.

this is stupid.. i start a topic and say within the few sentences do not brutally attack this for it is an opinion.. but what happens..It gets attacked.. now to Emerald... look up the lyrics for the songs i mentioned.. Futureal, Lord of Light, The Trooper, and Aces High... those ARENT satanic at all... i never mentioned the songs u mentioned.. because of the simple fact that they talk about things that should be taboo in a sonic game... listen to them.. before you rip out my colon through my eyes... if u want to discuss the songs i picked and criticize those.. i wouldnt @#%$.. but your complaining about songs i never even mentioned... Moving along.. i also thought that John Petrucci, the guitarist of Dream Theater would be nice.. but i digress... i can see though how ppl would say oh.. iron maiden is doing music for a sonic game would turn some heads.. but maybe what im trying to say is that Style of music..is fitting for the way sega is wanting to take sonic with the whole attitude thing.. not the sacirifce, burning, and rape theme.. but just.. power metal and stuff.. i guess..

To be honest the idea of where the music gets faster and faster is a good idea but I would suppose it'll be hard to implement into a game.

Unless they'd do it like a classic Burnout where you press a button and the nitro boost kicks in and the guitars and drums gets louder than the rest of the music.

The idea that children listening to music unpaired with lyrics they've never heard before will remind them of those lyrics is sillier than ranting about it in this topic.

Also the fact I responded to it.

Um umumum On Topic!: I wouldn't like it if the music sped up and down repeatedly. I would get a headache. Maybe something other than the speed could be adjusted. Perhaps how fast Sonic moves could relate directly to the amount of hardcoreyness or silliness of the music by subbing out or adding instruments. Whichever is apporpriate for that level.

yeah, im afraid that the music slowdown speed-ups would wear thin on one's nerves... but it was just an idea.. its not like its going to happen.. so yeah.. the point was i think speed or power metal would be suitable for sonic.. maybe they could hire someone DECENT... to do it....or possibly have orchestrated music.. id love to here orchestrated chemical plant zone.. green hill.. .. i havent played sonic 3 for a while so i cant remember the zone name for the water zone.. is it hydrocity? or hydropolis? i cant remember but yeah.. orchestrated classic music.. let sega do what nintendo has done for galaxy.. sonic needs to go back to his roots... no voice acting..simple gameplay.. no horribly convoluted stories.. a revision of the original sonic.. re-done.. possibly put on the wii.. or the ds..

I never expected you to be such a concerned parent. Removing the lyrics would make the sick, disgusting immorality a non-issue, since your assumption that everyone who plays Sonic has listened to Iron Maiden has no basis.

The real issue with putting Iron Maiden in a Sonic game is that the music simply doesn't sound right for that particular medium. Sonic is not metal. However, I do think that an epic orchestrated soundtrack would be a nice addition to the games. Or we could just get people from OC Remix to compose all of the songs. Either one would be better than listening to Crush 40.

XDXD! @ Pach. I've not listened to any Iron Maiden[by choice atleast...my have heard some on the radio or something and not have known it] but I feel Sonic's music is very well suited as it is. Although the idea of speeding up and slowing down isn't bad.

i was gonna say about the recognizing of a song by its music is absurd.. i can easily imagine that ppl who have never heard of iron maiden is easily gonna say this music is about satan i just know it :crazy especially my 6 year old nephew. i like good music in games, and im sure im gonna get blindsided with a but iron maiden isnt good music as soon as i post this, but i grow weary of Crush 40...heck id rather listen to a "daft punk" sonic song.. even though it would just be like 4 words at best being repeated several times with a techno beat.. than listen to some more crock from Crush again.

well, you're not saying much there. i may have listed certain kinds of music that should be in a sonic game, but in truth, i would probably settle with anything besides crush 40 just to have some variety. this includes porn music.

i wish sega would allow u to upload songs onto your wii and just play that in the background of your games.. i have music playing over the sonic next gen music on my 360 but yeah. and i think most parents these days arent gonna be irate over the music in a game.. they are more worried about the content the child is being exposed to.
