When I got all Chaos emeralds in Sonic 3 and Knuckles I got Hyper Sonic, and he was a raving version of Super Sonic. The only difference is that he can do a sonic boom, left, right, up, and down. Feel free to discuss Hyper Sonic.

His aftertrail effect is cool. Very Castlevania.
I don't like Hyper Sonic. Un needed overkill is what it is.
The instant death blast was cool...too bad it couldn't affect bosses.
I like HyperSonic. Even though he did take out the very little challenge in S3&K. I like his colors then the boring yellow of SuperSonic. I wonder if you could pull of the switing colors in 3D?
I'm not good enough to get Hyper Sonic. Sometimes I dream I am, but I wake up, and my sad life starts all over. 
Just go at beginning of Sonic's Mushroom Hill, go through the big ring, and the keep trying.

Don't feel bad. I didn't unlock Hyper Sonic until a few months ago. And I still have yet to beat the game, all because of Doomsday.
Doomday's easy! Just lead the missile to Eggy's cockpit a few times and then ram him. Doomsday may be the easiest final boss ever.
