Anyway, that might be a good time to bring back NiGHTS. For example, (this plot is right off the top of my head) during an adventure, Tails colapses into a coma, and Sonic and pals take him home. While Tails dreams, He meets NiGHTS, who needs him to help him defeat Diov, or whatever. But why did he bring Tails, instead of Sonic, you might ask? BECUZ HE IS TEH CHOSEN ONE!!!!! Or he can fly or something. And earlier in the game Tails had been questioning his importance to the team, so NiGHTS shows him how powerful he is inside, and how important he really is. Li'l ego boost for the tailed one here. The game could have could have NiGHTS and TaILS both have similar flight simulators. And when Dreamworld is saved, Tails wakes up just in time for Eggy to announce another plan, and everything goes back to normal.
And thats my take on a new Tails only game.

Has Tails ever been referred to as The Chosen One in a game? I always thought that was only a Archie storyline...

No. Cameos are fine, but a return to the NiGHTS world or characters would cheapen it.
Yeah I agree VCP keep it as it is now really. Nights buildings/posters etc in Sonic's world and vica versa if we ever go back to Nights world.
