Look out Canada here come Sonic and Mario for a rematch at Olympics .
I wouldn't be surprised if this turn out to be true, seeing how much money the first title did.
Sonic owns Mario at snowboarding. >=D
Also, I don't own a Wii, let alone the original game.
Hopefully, they'll add more characters and not the same ones from the original.
Sonic owns Mario at snowboarding. >=D
Remember how Mario was so much better than Sonic at pretty much everything? Yeah, same thing here I'm afraid.
I'm one step closer to Mario Kart Vs Sonic Riders at the Monaco Grand Prix.
Seriously? This is crap on a stick, lightly battered and then deep fried -.-. Why another Mario+Sonic Party extravaganza?!??!
The answer is right in the OP.
^What does Canada have to do with anything? 😛
^What does Canada have to do with anything? 😛
hosting the 2010 winter games maybe?
^What does Canada have to do with anything? 😛
Actually I was refering to this...
"....seeing how much money the first title did."
*watches obvious joke flies over Ashide's head*
whoosh! ^_^
If there is a new game I hope the presentation is a bit better.
Well. Playing as an atrociously underpowered Sonic against a gloriously magnificent Mario again will be a barrel of laughs.
But Ocean's C64 classic "Winter Games" will forever be my favorite winter olympics title, it'll be a tough one to defeat.
*Amuses self by picturing Bowser on a snowboard... then remembers that I've seen that in Mario Party*
Remember when some people were laughing at Sega for saying it would sell 4m on Wii and DS and now it's almost to 7m on Wii and 4m on DS?
Is it really that funny when M&S Summer Olympics outsold every other Sega title since...ever?
No. More like sad
Considering that Sonic is the only successful Sega series.
And the Nintendo 'hardcore' only bought it because it's also a Mario game. Hell, they only buy Mario or Zelda.
Oh, please. V2, this shouldn't be a big surprise to you, but the "Nintendo Hardcore" are a minority of the Wii's userbase. Hence why E3 last year happened. I doubt the minority of that minority who will buy anything with Mario in it (my impression of that crowd is that they resent the "non-games" such as Mario Party and such) will make that big of a difference on sales.
The bigger and better reason would be that it was released about Christmas time and that it was a very family friendly looking title on that silly white console that everyone bought the previous two Christmas times. Makes sense to buy it.
Oh and everyone has a DS. Everyone.
Sometimes they have three, just so those who don't, do.
I have 3.
Is it really that funny when M&S Summer Olympics outsold every other Sega title since...ever?
Its mentally hilarious. I mean I could kinda understand if it actually looked like a Sonic/Mario game. Checkboard hills and random pipes etc. But it doesn't.
Oh well.

Yeah, sales of previous Mario games in previous consoles sure were crappy. 😛
And Mario games don't specifically cater to the hardcore. They never did.
And whenever I think of "hardcore Nintendo fans", I think of people who buy F-Zero and Fire Emblem and other niche titles in addition to the Zelda, Mario, Kirby, Pokemon, Wii ____etc.
Those aren't Nintendo hardcore fans those are ACTUAL Nintendo fans. lol
Anyway, sorry my rants got us off topic. o.o
So I guess I'll make a wishlist.
Characters: Everyone from the original plus DK, Silver, Jet, Birdo, Bowser Jr., Rouge, Diddy Kong, Espio
Events: Bobsledding, figure skating, 100m skating or whatever, snowboarding, skiing
Please, hardcore is just such a meaningless and hypocritical word.
It sold a lot because of Mario, Sonic, the olympics craze in Europe, being a pack-in in some places of Europe, good word of mouth (it's better than many expected), and being a sequel of sorts to Wii Sports.
I want:
Power: Knuckles Bowser Vector Wario (Whoever. Big?) DK
Average: Mario Amy Luigi Blaze Birdo Rouge
Speed: Sonic Daisy Shadow(well I don't want Shadow but he will be in it) Yoshi Espio Diddy Kong
Skill: Peach Tails Waluigi Eggman Koopa Troopa Cream
Yeah, Bowser Jr and Silver are more likely skill types, but I dislike them. And Koopa is my favorite in Mario Kart.
If it were to have 32 characters, which is extremely unlikely, I'll just list these highly unlikely preferences:
Power: Gamma, Ludwig von Koopa
Average: Popple, Metal Sonic
Speed: Mighty, Dixie Kong
Skill: Fawful, Fang
Events: CURLING!, Bobsleds, Snowboard, Sprint ski, Ski jump, Freestyle ski, Ski pursuit, Figure skating, Luge, Speed skating, Hockey (might be too complex, but it would be nice)
But curling is a must.
Online play
A more Mario and Sonic style setting
Also laughter @ Bowser and Eggman figure skating.
Seeing a lot of these characters figure skating would get a laugh out of me. Oy. And a duet would be even worse.
This would be an appropriate game to reintroduce Bark the polar bear.
I can see Eggman making a figure "Yosh!"
Look like Sega has the rights to Vancouver Olympics. I guess this confirm the game is real.
Offical PR:

Cool. And here the trailer.
So far we got Mario, Sonic, Eggman, Wario, Tails, Daisy and Knuckles as confirm.
I wonder if Waluigi, Jet and Silver will make it this time around.
Bark would be ROBBED if he didn't appear in this game!
XD I know he's a freaking polar bear. Buuut well....I highly doubt he'll even get a cameo.
SCREW SONIC TEAM AND THEIR APPARENTLY SHORT-TERM MEMORIES!!!
I like how the developers for the Olympic game acknowledges the South Island friends when Sonic Team proper hasn't in years.
^This
Though I do wish we get to see the Westside Island animals again as well.
^ The Westside Island animals are the critters from Sonic 2, right? Yeah, I'd love to see them return too.
I showed this to my friends and one of them whined that he wants a proper adventure with Sonic and Mario. Oh will he never learn.
Looks like beside snowboarding and skiing there will be speed skating and bobsleding too.
There should be a snow fortress/ snow ball fight game.
It seems the cast from the first game is back. Oddly enough Blaze isn't wearing her tracksuit from the previous game.
I don't think a tracksuit makes good winter apparel. Even if you're a firecat, you want to wear something warm.
But yes, I'm looking forward to this. Still need to get a copy of Wii Fit so I can have a balance board, though.
Looks like beside snowboarding and skiing there will be speed skating and bobsleding too.
Damn, I SO hope THAT pic is the official cover for Mario & Sonic At The Olympic Winter Games! S**t is too epic!!!!! As for the scanned pages themselves, although they were brutally honest about some of Sega/Sonic Team's previous failures, the overall article just seemed too anti-Sega for my liking (which is unsurprising to me, considering the title of the magazine!).
Hahah epic indeed. That won't be the cover though, I bet you. 😛 I think I might get this just to complement my Summer Games Beijing. lol I didn't read the article, but Ninty is being anti-Sega...why I oughta!
Not another one of these. Bowser can outrun Sonic, it's unbelievable.
And Sonic can outtoss Bowser in the hammer throw. And Sonic can swim in that game
What's your ****ing point? It's bad they're balancing the game? OMG THE GAME IS BAD CAUSE I THINK SONIC'S THE ONLY ONE NERF!
I really appreciated that Sonic COULDN'T swim in the last one but instead had to use a life jacket to stay afloat.
---the-Krayon
i hope someone rigs those life jackets
j/k XD
I want figure skating. But thats totally not going to be in this game. arg. I want Snoopy on the ice ring cleaner thingy!
Bark would be robbed if he didn't appear here, but Fang was robbed when he didn't appear in either Riders game, and with Fang being the top in that 'Old character' Facebook poll, and Bark being dead last (0% when I looked. Ironically, he was who I asked my friend to vote for in my place. I just like his design, and figured Fang, Mighty and Metal Knuckles would already be well catered for)... it's not gonna happen. He could at least be a referee like Espio, Charmy, Cream, etc were in the last Olympics.
I admit I just don't like Mario/Sonic hybrids. It's the worst of both worlds (and yes that is a reference to Hannah Montana).
but Fang was robbed when he didn't appear in either Riders game, and with Fang being the top in that 'Old character' Facebook poll
But if there was any truth in the story that Fang was quietly dropped after being undesirable to parents, then the squeamishness about a Sonic character with a gun in a game that isn't Shadow isn't likely to go away any time soon, given the target demographic.
