Well, technically, SSB is a Mario/Sonic game, given you can play as both characters and Shadow, Tails, Knuckles and Silver make cameos.
Either way, given that I now own a Wii Balance Board. This may become a "Must Buy" title for me in it's mere nature of a fun Sonic game which lets us play Wii Fit skiing/Long jump without it being a 20 second mini-game.
Probably a 50 second one instead.

'Old character' Facebook pollBut if there was any truth in the story that Fang was quietly dropped after being undesirable to parents, then the squeamishness about a Sonic character with a gun in a game that isn't Shadow isn't likely to go away any time soon, given the target demographic.
My feeling is the way adults perceive Fang and Shadow. Fang is a treasure hunter whereas Shadow is perceived as an anti-hero, an anti-Sonic perhaps. You can find redeeming characteristics on Shadow that Fang lacks. In short:
Shadow w/ guns -> ok because he can be hero
Nack w/guns -> no good because he steals money.
I'm not denying that - I was just saying why I didn't see Fang's return as a possibility.

Players can go on Adventure Tours with the DS game where they accept quests and encounter boss matches. SEGA will be unveiling these bosses at a later date, but did say we can probably guess what bad guys from the Mario and Sonic universes would make sense.
Sweet we get to fight some bosses too. I guess this mean Eggman won't be only Sonic villain in the game.
I hope the Wii has bosses also. But can Eggman and Bowser do it if they're playable?
Birdo? DK? Bowser Jr? Chaos? Metal Sonic? The Mario ones are rather likely to be playable though.

New scans from NP revealed that DS version will have an RPG mode where Mario ans Sonic explore the world and complete mini games and missions. Also each character will their own individuals move that will help them in the Winter Games. Sounds like the DS is the one I get.
The DS version is sounding a lot better. They'd better get some interesting things like that into the Wii version too.

Trailer hints at possible Eggman and Wario team up. That'll be interesting for the story mode with Eggman Nega and Bowser Jr trying to take over the world.

Btw TSSZ has 21 new screenshots of the DS and 17 of the Wii version. This appears to be a screenshot of the Adventure Mode from the DS version. Looks interesting.

At first I was pleased that they game Knuckles his green BG from his original level goal sign, but it's code for power. This confirms Metal Sonic as speed and a return of the class system from M&S.
DARN YOU SEGA! Espio confirmed as not playable by TSS. My #1 new roster want was Espio. Metal Sonic is a consolation prize, though I'd prefer both.

I mean I could understand if he was popular, attractive to look at or if he was in a new Sonic game. But he isn't.
I'm suprised Rouge and Rosalina haven't been announced but thats just me.

Well, I guess Silver must have a bigger fanbase than most realize, and I got to admit I'm pretty surprised myself that no Sonic games has been announced yet besides the Sega All Star Racing. Maybe Sega has learned it's lesson and is going to take their time to make another one.

Adventure Mode on the DS looks quite cool actually. They are testing out Mario and Sonic: The RPG. Developed by Square Enix for some reason.

Since the first had DK, Birdo, Silver, and Jet as removed characters this is not a surprise. At least they replaced the fail of Jet with the win of Metal Sonic.
Uh, so how will this work? There are 8 new characters? I don't like that idea, to be honest. The only one I want who isn't already playable is Espio, and the other potential Sonic cameos are not inspiring. I'd guess the other 3 are probably Big, Rouge, and Diddy.
Honestly, loving the idea of Adventure Mode- even if it's only tenuous, it's STILL the closest my dream of seeing a Sonic and Mario RP has ever come to reality, and it makes the DS version a must-buy.
That, and the inclusion of Metal Sonic not only makes the Wii version a must-buy, but makes the DS version a must-buy all OVER again.
Dang! Now there's even MORE reason for me to get the FIRST Olympics title on the DS as well- since it'd flat-out SUCK to have the SECOND one on both systems and not the FIRST.... oy. Looking like my game budget is going to be rather stretched to its limits in the near future.
