Well the Mario characters never exactly had character development. And the ones that have personally are very common
I chuckled at the fact that "plumber" is now a type of species.

Ironically, the Mario characters are a bit bland.
If by bland, you mean the characters are not extremely obnoxious to the point that many wish on their gruesome deaths or at least their voice boxes ripped from their throats...
...then I agree.

LOL @ you thinking Mario characters have half decent voices. 😛
It will probably be reveal anyway seeing that SSBB was also shown behind closed doors last year.
And WOW! at the Symphonia sequel and possible Kid Icarus game for Wii.
Information. Overload. *erupts in screams and yelps of joy*

I think by bland he meant they don't have as many "unique" abiltiies as the Sonic characters. Most of the Sonic cast have natural abilities (speed, flight, strength, telekenisis and erm... hammer time), while the Mario cast usually rely on items otherwise they mostly jump and that's it. It's all a bit unfair for the Nintendo cast, so I'll be interested to see how they balance it all out.
But the Sonic characters have gotten too "X-men" for my taste. Seriously, telekinesis was the last straw guys. We don't even get an explanation for it. I'd settle for a kind of Stan Lee science, "bombarded by gamma rays" or "bitten by a radiactive space monkey".
I think we're supposed to believe telekinesis and Blaze's fire pants are the norm in the future.

Sans Luigi, Daisy, and Wario, they don't. But at least they are as not a squawky as Sonic and co. I think I'll take a very few amount of voice clips or jibberish language over badly spoken dialouge from a poorly written *****.

Huh? Have you ever played any of the Mario RPG or SSB games? They automatically give the Mario characters such as fire power for Mario for example without the use of a fire flower. Their abilities are usually adjusted depending on the game. I think they have specific ablities in the sports games also.
EDIT: Why is s-c-r-i-p-t censored?
When I said that the Mario characters are bland, I mean that they receieve no character development in there games. The Mario characters that do recieve C.D. are usually one time characters anyway.

There is no real character development in the Sonic franchise nowadays either(see the Flanderization of the main reoccuring characters). And if it is presented in a really hokey manner.

Wow. o.o
I said "wow" also!
As in "wow this looks uninteresting!"
Hmm. I like. Not bad.
Hahaha Ashide come on...it doesn't look that bad.
It looks like A Mario sports title minus the wacky settings. Mario, Sonic, and the rest of them seems so...out of place. =p
lolz don't let Eggman's exterior image fool you. He's very in shape.
Something I didn't notice before... Look at the audience.
AS IF
Aww c'mon Bowser wont stand a chance at running. Though Eggman was pretty funny bent over like that. lol
So we now know that Peach, Eggman, and Bowser are in the game. Cream seems to play the role as referee.
So we have toads, koopas, and yoshis in the audience. I don't see any Sonic characters though.
Eggman is the man at short distance running, look at him in Sonic 2!
Also Mario might have used a Speed up monitor :

I see Chao
Did you notice they were kinda.... big?
Wow, the graphics on the DS version looks pretty good!
Yeah the game looks pretty bland so far. =/
Quote:
I see Chao
Yeah, after a quick glance, I see them too. Cool.
From what I saw from the E3 footage...man, of course Sonic is leaving everyone in the dust...but so is Mario. I understand it's to set them apart as the main characters, but still...I never thought the day would come I'd see Mario and Sonic together, let alone running side-by-side.
You know how they have sponsors of the Olympics on billboards and stuff?
Don't you think it would be cool if they did it here but for other Nintendo and Sega characters?
Ex:
"Eat at Kirby's"
"Sleeping in a NiGHTS' bed will give you pleasant dreams"
"Chao in Space III: Featuring Petey Pirahna"
LAME! Mario obviously switched Sonic's shoes with his labrynth ones, it's just like that old (really old) Archie comic issue where Robotnik does the same when Sonic enters his version of the Olympics.
For a short, fat plumber, Mario sure is fast.
Hahaha see what happened is Sonic is actually running 500m while Mario just does a 100m. Mario's still a bit too close. >_> But yes ads, would be super neat. =]
IGN has info on how to game works.
Quote:
Of course, we saw Dr Eggman run his ball shaped torso fast enough to beat the World Record for the 100 meter dash with no problem, so these goals might not be much of a challenge.
What the heck? Eggman has super speed.
Quote:
Nintendo certainly has a large selection of available characters, though Sega may have to scrape the barrel if they want to add many more. Big the Cat anyone?
LOL Look like Jack DeVries hasn't play a Sonic in a loooong time.
Yea he hasn't. Now this is Sega'a perfect time to throw in some retro cameos. Or Sega being Sega...just create more characters. u_u
Scrape the bottom of the barrel? Wow. Or they could just look at the cover of issue 125 for a few ideas.
ARCHIE CHARACTERS DO NOT WORK THAT WAY!

ARCHIE CHARACTERS DO NOT WORK THAT WAY!
Haha, what do you mean, bloo?
Stats have beeon confirmed along with Amy Rose
Mario (All-around)
Peach (Technical)
Yoshi (Speed)
Bowser (Power)
Sonic (Speed)
Knuckles (Power)
Tails (Technical)
Amy (All-around)
All in all, it looks pretty accurate. I wonder if Yoshi will be able to keep up with Sonic. He is the fastest Mario character. lol
Link's busted, V2.
Darn, I guess it expired. But I got what it said on Gamefaqs

He also pointed to Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games as a project that may potentially include such a feature. "There will be some fencing in Mario & Sonic at the Olympics. I don't know if I'm supposed to say that, so if I'm not, I'm very sorry, SEGA," he said, laughing.
