Heh Cream is the line judge. She's quick she should be playable, and I suppose she still could be. That trailer was nice. I'm still not sure if I want to ask for this at Xmas or not. Nights, Smash and possibly Galaxy. Although M&S would make for a great party game. Hmm...

The developers spoke that they are looking into the possibility of utilizing the Wii Zapper for the skeet shooting game, though they would not confirm it. There is also planned connectivity with the DS version that will release alongside this Wii version. Only 8 characters were in the demo, but 20+ are planned for the final. They are also planning on having support for online Wii leaderboards featuring best times and scores. Since the actual game is supposed to be a more realistic interpretation of the sports, Mario & Sonic will feature unlockable version of some of the games that are more exaggerated and use items and objects from Mario & Sonics respective worlds.
Unlockable that sounds great. This game just sounds better and better. Although if the Wii Zapper is needed with it, that'll be even more money i'll need to fork over in order to play this game. Darn. =P
Man, I think it would be a humongous waste, and mistake, if they don't put this game online, for both versions, as this is just screaming for it.
I definitely see where they're coming from with that article. It does seem like a waste that the two biggest mascots in game history are competing in something very irrelevant to either characters' universe.
After reading that article, I'm not as excited about this game, but that may be because I'm tired of party games and want a solid adventure game (since I've done all that I can in Twilight Princess).
But it'll still be fun to pit all these characters against each other.

Then explain the massive popularity of the Super Smash Brothers games.
Personally, I believe that there's a lot to look forward to here. Yes, there may be a bias towards using certain characters in certain events, but technically, speaking, that's the way it works in the real Olympics, too. You don't get one person doing every single event for one country in the real Olympics. You play them according to their strengths. Fast runner? Put them in the sprint. Powerful legs? Long or High Jump.
The important thing about the Olympics is playing to strengths, and I think that will show through well in this game, too.

Beelieve!
Same as SMG. Sweet. Didn't even know there was a release date out for it yet. Heh

Smash uses each characters' unique abilities and uses level designs from their games as well. The characters in M&SO do have certain abilities, but only one of a few for each character; not like the whole rock, paper, scissors aspect Smash has. Also, you have a lot more freedom in Smash than it sounds like we will in this game.
This game sounds lame, I'm sorry. It's just annoying to watch Mario keep up with Sonic like that in the video, too. Why the hell can't Sega get it's head on straight?
Dead Horse called. He wants you to stop beating him.
Should've had ark orbitting the earth on the advert @ zoom in :
I find this both cool and ironic. I mean, back in the day Sonic and Mario were the biggest gaming characters of them all, and they were considered rivals. Come on, I know I'm not the only one who's seen the Sonic vs. Mario videos out there! Anyway, sounds like it could be cool, so long as they don't screw up and put stupid characters in it.
I don't think this article has been linked yet:
www.nintendoworldreport.c...rtid=14007
It reveals some things we didn't know yet, like how some of the games will be controlled with the Wiimote.
So yea I was pretty weirded out by Mario keeping up w/Sonic too like alot of people...but now after seeing that again...i'm even more pissed at Luigi BEATING Knuckles. WTF!?
Actually, I think that Luigi could be capable of outrunning Knuckles. After all, he does seem to be depicted a lot as some kind of coward who runs away at the first sign of trouble, so maybe he's just developed better running ability than Knuckles. Were it a fight, now, Knuckles would kick his butt.
Doesn't Luigi has the ablity to run on water in SM64DS?
All I remember about Luigi's speed is that he isn't as fast as Mario.
Luigi can run on water for only a few seconds.
And in some games he's either faster or slower than Mario. Usually slower.
If by "hilarious" you mean "stupid and already done to death", then I agree.
The person who made that has obviously never played and Super Mario Bros games, considering Mario's pretty damn quick for a fat guy.
To be fair, though, so is Eggman.
Official Site is up! It's pretty much the same thing though and no new screens that I can tell of, but it's up.

The great thing about this is its similar to Mario Kart in leveling the playing field. Sonic isnt always going to win the 100 metre dash; its really up to the players and how well they use the nunchuk and remote. Mario and Luigi for example are great all-rounders. Their stats are spread across speed, acceleration and dash. Sonic meanwhile has a good top speed but his acceleration is low. Its a real balancing act. Were trying to go for that mass-appeal like Mario Kart; it crosses all boundaries. Kids can pick up and play Mario Kart and have a great time, but its really fun at home with those core gamers who replay and replay. - Sega product manager Grant Gie

As if Sonic didn't have a hard enough time succeeding in games, let's have him loosing in race of his specialty against a pudgy plumber, who uses his own garlic breath as an attack.
/end mini rant
Sorry, but the more I read about this game the less I look forward to it.
Some some things from the characters respective attributes from their own games is absent...or in Mario's case added, the game will be a blast to play with lots of people. I think so atleast. I'm planning on getting it.
Same here. Been looking forward to a crossover game between the two franchises for too long NOT to give it a spin and see what I think of it.
I wish somewhere in Sonic's canon-ish story/timeline that he'd learn how to swim >> I mean this game will have swimming in it right? And if it is practically fact that Sonic sinks like a rock then what? Will he just not be an avaliable character for that event?
I've said it a few times before and it looks like it's time for me to say it again:
Fluorescent armbands.
Of course, that's just a hope I have. I think it's more likely that he'll just be running on the bottom of the pool or DQ'd.
note: armbands = waterwings/floaties/swimmies
Or, you know, the game has nothing to do with canon.
It almost certainly isn't, but I don't think even the current Sega/ST would ignore his inability to swim just like that.
Although, if it makes production even a little bit easier, like setting a bunch of models to the same animation, I guess it isn't that unlikely.
Some folks I'm sure are cringing at the thought of 4kids providing voices for the Sonic half in this game. But I think they won't actually talk much outside of random shouts like "YEAH!" or " I did it!" and other phrases. I mean it would be dumb for Sonic and Co. to be blaring away at the chops while Mario and his crew remain their usually silent selves. Save for Daisy >>. They'd never make Mario say a full sentence.
Quote:

Well, technically, "It's a me, Mario," is a full sentence.
well anything other than THAT >>
"So long, King Bowser"
"Hey, you're pretty good. See you next time"
"Thank you so much for playing my game"
"All toasters toast toast"
"Game, Set, & Match (insert Mario Tennis 64 character here)
Yeah, Mario NEVER said a fuller sentence.
I prefer the Mario/Luigi speak from the... er, Mario & Luigi games. But that probably won't fly here.
Wow I actually forgot about all of that. Eh. I think I need to rephrase what I mean. Theres a difference in how the two franchises handle their dialogue. I mean, does that make better sense? Usually In Mario games you read subtitles and the characters make strange noises which represents words.
Like this
NPC asks question through speak bubble
Mario says gibberish
NPC 'translates' what Mario said
At least it proves that Mario can talk. Besides, what's with Sonic voice actors not even being second rate, comic bubbles seem much better
It certainly will be interesting to see how-if at all-Mario and the Nintendo gang will speak in the game.
sign language!!! o o
D'oh!
Yeah, sorry, but I already posted it a page or two ago.
uhhyyeah, and ?
Funny...the hurdles...aren't there. It's just the bar on the side. Besides green tracks are better. My school's got a red one though. ^^
They're holding the logo @ bars.
Psh! >_> Duh...who didn't know that. I was totally kidding.
