When I heard Tails' voice actor in the SA games for the first time.

Absolutely terrifying.

Sonic X's Amy Ghost gives me nightmares to this very day, and of course there's Sonic R's Tails Doll, but aside from that there's nothing in the Sonic series which is really scary or spooky.

Bubble Booble's HURRY UP ghost, Earthworm Jim's GIANT eyeballs in the dark or Mario's HUGE GIANT LAND, yes. They scare me to this day. Sonic? No way.

Oohh.. Forgot the one with the soulless eyes... Thanks Craig!!

Void's creepy, too.

Perfect Chaos scared the CRAP out of me when I first faced him, but now I can beat him in at most 2 or 3 tries.

And, being afraid of heights, EVERY LEVEL WITH BOTTOMLESS PITS OF DOOM IN THE 3D GAMES FREAK ME OUT!!(Well, Windy Valley doesn't bother me at all any more, but all the others....)

BTW, when I mentioned the end of the fight quote from Metal Overlord, I meant that it creeped me out by how dangerously unbalanced Metal Sonic is. DEFINATELY not the kind of guy you want to be within 200 feet of (depending on the range of his weaponry).:eek :eek :eek :eek

I got heebie-jeebies when I first went into the Chao World on SA2.

But it turned out to just be Chao Eggs.

Needless to say we had a feast that night!

But seriously, tho, Sonic isn't exactly fear material. The only time I ever remember it scaring me is back when I first played Sonic 1/2. The drowning music and Sonic 1's boss music would always make me fleeee from the game.

I WAS YOUNG AND HELPLESS STOP LAUGHING.

The ghosts in the pyramid in Sandopolois use to scare me and I muted the sound because I thought they might make sounds. Now, I know they don't so I turn up the sound, however they still creep me out every now and then. Also, the ghosts from SA2 and SH still give me the heebie-jeebies quite effectively even though I know they shouldn't.

You see! THIS is what I meant! I'm not saying Sonic games are scary, I just wanted to know what parts scared what people, how badly (mostly not much, but still), and why. I know nobody'd be scared witless, but daunted, startled, shocked, yeah, that's what I meant!

Well, for Sonic games that have made me jump... I can only think of one...
Sonic Adventure 2 those ghosts that appear from nowhere. In particular the ones in Aquatic Mine. I was frantcially looking for the emerald shard then BAM! dropped the controller. And this was a DC controller. Lucky not to break the VMUs.

Mind you (Non Sonic related) Playing Gran Turismo 2 and I got VERY (Tongue out of mouth, leaning forward) into a race and then My mum shouted JOHN! Again dropping the controller and losing the race.

Well I never liked water levels to begin with. A semi-phobia of in-game water I guess and the possibility of encountering the (still terrifying) drowning music.... I guess I can safely say that scared and -still- scares me.

I never did like the Biolizard either. Combining its creepiness (and my inability to beat it no matter how many strategy guides I use) with the creepiness of the background music doesn't exactly scare me, but I REALLY don't like it.

Don't be embarrassed or afraid of being laughed at, anyone (someone did say "Don't Laugh At Me!" earlier). I'll freely admit that my fear of heights makes certain levels :cough:SkyCanyon:cough:CosmicFall:cough:anything withbottomlesspits:cough: a real high-blood-pressure endeavour.

Note: For some odd reason, Windy Valley doesn't bother me AT ALL anymore...

Not pits, per se, but heights. And the second post was to encourage people to not be embarrassed to say "Hey, this Sonic Game scared me at one point". You know, I was saying, "Hey, I can admit it! Why not you?".

The first time Cream flew past Sonic after casinopolis in SADX kinda gave me the heebie jeebies. It was because i wasn't expecting it. You know you get a chill down your spine or a feeling pertaining to that when something freaky happens you definately didn't expect? Just like that.

The Knuckles animation when you stand about 1 foot away from him when he's sat on the switch panting in sky sanctuary spooked me a bit. It's one animation used once in the game. Again, i weren't expecting it.

Ah yes, Amy's very creepy face in episode 19 of Sonic X was seriously freaky.

Can the horrible CreamxBlaze Discuss underthemes of Sonic Rush count?

Wether it be Cream running off and smiling Blaze saying "I've never had such strong feelings before."

or the horrible... noises!

It's an interesting parallel to the Sonic/Tails dynamic (however you chose to interpret that *winkwink*), to say the least.

I remember not long after I got Sonic 2, I was listening to the music in the Sound Test, and then I hit the number that starts the Drowning music - but I thought that was the game's way of telling me to get out of the sound test or I'd die a terrible bloody death.

The Chemical Plant Zone boss always made me feel rather anxious, too. I used to pause the game and wait for my dad to do it. These days I can beat him in about eight seconds. Ah, nostalgia. =p

For me, it was the final boss music from Sonic Chaos. The high-pitched violin like intro to a remix of the boss music freaked me out. The chicken-legged boss didn't help matters either. Of course I was only about eight at the time.

ARGH!

The Sandopolis Ghosts! I repressed that memory so well I forgot about them. When they reach TOTAL DARKNESS they freak me out to uncomfortable levels... seriously, during that level I'm just edgy and want the place lit ALL THE TIME *shudders*

Thanks for reopenning a wound, Swift =[

You! Kayla! I was about to say just that!!
The last level in Sonic Chaos and especially the boss and music freaked me out to the level that I trembled like a leaf on a windy day! And it took me months to beat it.. hehe, I played that game so much I can beat it so easily now! n_n
I remember the first time I got to that boss and the music changed to the boss music I had the impression there were some lyrics saying "perigo perigo perigo" which translates to "danger danger danger"!! XD
Other moments... well, the ghosts in Sandopolis almost made me have a heart attack on that part where the sand fills the rooms and you have to climb up or get squeezed... I used not to be able to turn the switches on and it got pitch-dark! Scary! >.<
To this day, I sometimes scare myself at night when thinking about the Tails Doll.. Oo;; The other day I was in the cellar and suddenly "Livin' in the City" starts playing in my head and I totally freak out! XD

No, I was only bothered, I mean REALLY bothered the first time...
(I remember dropping the controller, walking numbly out of the room, past my mother who was doing the ironing and collapsing on the sofa still unable to think straight, and she followed me in and said; "Is something wrong?")

Once I was able to do it once though, I was ok. After several playthroughs they didn't bother me at all, but that first time

You just HAD to bring up the ghosts. I don't like ANY of the ones in Sonic's world (once again shudders while hugging Sonic plushie).

Anyone remember this:

Quote:

But they all fall in the end :evil
But, to be honest, they were only scary in Sandopolis...
They were comical in Sonic Adventure 2(well, the king Boom Boo one was, the rest were so so) and barely anything at all in Heroes, and even less than that in Shadow... Blue wraiths that barely look like anything at all... I mean, it's more pathetic than anything when your running around giant pumpkin buildings... Hmpfff....

The series hasn't done out and out, "Oh m god... What the hell's happening?" since Sandopolis act 2. It's done "wow, cool, Super Sonic final boss" again, almost too often. It's done "great graphics" again, almost too often. It's done, "Good story" time after time... But it's not not been out and out... scary since Sonic and Knuckles...

There, I hope VCP is happy, I've discovered what the classics have got that the new games are lacking, that undeterminable X factor, it's gothic horror :evil

The Ghosts... The Sandopolis Ghosts.... *shudders* Can't sleep, ghost will eat me. Can't sleep, ghost will eat me... Need Tails Doll to scare them away...

Not quite so creepy maybe, but the final boss on Sonic 2 (after you get past the silver Sonic) was pretty scary. The fact that you had no rings to work with and those fists kept leaping out at you... I swear, when I finally beat that for the first time, I was shaking from adrenaline overload :)

Dear god... I'ma jump on the Sandopolis Act 2 bandwagon-like thing here, though not just for the ghosts. They didn't make me like the level any more than I already do, but what really scared me was the part where the sand continues rising and rising and you have to dash all over the place and really jump and dodge to not get crushed by the ceiling (or the obnoxious moving FLOATING DRUM WITH SPIKES THAT LIKES TO BARELY GRAZE PAST SONIC AND COUNT THAT AS A DEATH oVO;; That killed me WAY too many times).

Speaking of which, I absolutely cannot play levels without shaking in fear if things can crush and instantly kill you. For example, Metropolis Zone. Anyone recall those big black things that look innocent one moment... then a second later SLAM down (or up) and destroy you? I HATE that element of surprise and has shocked me to the point of having to slowly move through levels so I don't encounter things like that and end up scared out of my wits.

Add me to the Sandopolis ghost fearers. Man, I always scrambled for those light switches like nobody's business.

Now, on to WEIRD fears (when I was younger, of course):

I used to be freaked out in Hilltop Act 2. If you took the upper route, a PIECE OF THE LEVEL WOULD SOMETIMES FALL FROM THE SKY OUT OF COMPLETELY NOWHERE. Man, I was too chicken to take that route for the longest time...

Believe it or not, for whatever reason, I used to be scared of seeing Eggman's body after beating Final Zone. Don't ask, 'cuz I couldn't tell ya... ^_^;;

I completely forgot about Sandopolis Act 2. That was a creepy level.

Not only were there ghosts (I hated the sound when they appeared), but we can't forget the rising sand. My heart still starts pounding when I get to those parts.

That Tails Doll was always creepy...
IN ANY CASE... things I found creepy/weird:
1. Sandopolis Ghosts
2. Drowning in Labyrnith Zone in Sonic 1
3. The voice actors in Sonic X, especially Cream's voice
4. Shadow when I first saw him
5. Fighting overloaded Emerl as Sonic at the end of SB (no seriously, if I wasn't constantly using special attacks, jumping, and running he'd kill me)
6. suddenly falling into a bottomless pit and dying

I think that's all.

Hmm...I don't think there have been many, if any moments that scared me in a creepy, Tails Doll way...the only things I can think of would be fighting Silver Sonic for the first time (no rings of course) followed by the final boss after that. Other than that I'd say the moment Egg Viper goes kamikazi on you, after losing 30 lives to beat that boss down to nothing (yes, 30, laugh if you like) I was shocked to see I had lost!

As for Sandopolis, well, I loved those levels :D .

It occurs to me I forgot to mention Sonic the Fighters. Not as creepy as Tails Doll, but still pulse-pounding: the first time you go up against Metal Sonic. Look on in horror as he fires lasers at you, lifts you high into the air and drops you and generally pwnz you. *shudder* Bad Robot!

Water levels... why did it have to be water levels?

They scare me. I can't stand them. I wish I could god mode my way through them. Especially that one in Sonic Triple Trouble, gets me everytime. Once I hear the countdown of doom I just lose it and await my imminent doom. Then I hear the death bubbles, and I suppress my fears and retreat into myself. The water level are out to get me.
