Just wait. I bet you anything that in a few weeks they announce a Knuckles the Echidna game, or an EGGMAN game. And then they'll eventually tell us that it's all one big game - Sonic Adventure 3.

That would be cool, and if this was back in 2003 i'd be hopefull, but not now this long after the adventure series...

I wonder what Sega would do if they read this thread? ("I though they liked guns and violence? Oh well. How about a game on Cream, where you have to tidy up your bedroom, and buy presents for her Mom?")

Nobody was holding you at gunpoint and forcing you to agree with that opinion.

I don't know what you think gives you the right to insult the poster just because you don't like what they have to say (generalisation or not), but you can knock that attitude off. Right now.

This is a warning.

Sorry. :annoyed

Bad pixely screenshots but yeah.... hopefully the guns are just power ups... I mean they're optional. You choose if you want to take it or not (similar to Grand Theft Auto or other games with the same basic concept. Kill a baddie, gun drops. Lookie teh dead chaoz montah dropped a gun!)

And I noticed that the red energy bar shows how much Chaos powers Shadow has left... and as for the green/blue one is his health (you know... like in SA2 Eggman and Tails as a health bar they can replentish with rings.)

I dunno if this was posted but meh... oh well if it did.

Anyways, I have a little more hope for this game now that I know the guns are optional. X3

Ah, nice eye. I never noticed that gun in the trailer. At first, I thought it was ammo, though. <_< While I'm not saying a gun will ruin the game, it is a, well, rather 'special' idea. XD Maybe an optional point would help. One thing I'm REALLY interested in with this game is the fact that you apparently can use Chaos Control outside of any two-player modes, and such.

Nobody was holding you at gunpoint and forcing you to agree with that opinion.

I don't know what you think gives you the right to insult the poster just because you don't like what they have to say (generalisation or not), but you can knock that attitude off. Right now.

*sigh*

You're holding that person at gunpoint and telling her to accept the opinion, more or less. If EnergyEmerald is infringing on someone's right to freedom of speech, then I'm afraid the same thing is happening to EnergyEmerald.

You need to quote that or else some may get confused. She handed out the warning for a reason. EE had editted the post after so it doesn't seem as offensive now but that still doesn't reverse the warning.

Ok I thought that was what you were referring to. I know on some of the pictures he doesn't have his gun...but that doesn't necessarily mean it's not an option. Maybe he has it in his [fictional] pocket during that certain cutscene or something.:jester Another thing about the game that gets me is the fact there's a health meter. I thought the rings were the health. So does this mean you can get hit w/o any rings and still live? thats pretty cool...we'll just have to wait until more info is released.

Edit: Seems my post is a bit late.

Well, if the gun is an optional power-up and Chaos Power is the main weapon, then things look brighter already.

If the gun were an OPTIONAL power-up, they wouldn't be putting so much emphasis on it. Unless their point is "Oh, you can go without the gun, but you'd be a damn fool not to since the game ramps up in difficulty 20 times over if you don't".

Either way, that Shadow doesn't start with the gun doesn't make my feelings heighten any more. I'm still going to wait until the rental before my final say, but I still am NOT too excited.

I know that my name sorta invalidates anything I'd say; The fact that I don't like Shadow like I did when I made this name over a year ago will very likely be overlooked, but okay. Anyway...

Alright, first things first: I'm REALLY looking forward to this game. No more treasure hunting, no more clunky mechs, no more fishing, no more annoying pink hedgehogs. true, it aint the blue hedgehog, but its the gameplay that counts. As evident in the trailer, the game is going to be fast (And if there are a FEW parts where you might have to slow down to clear out an area of baddies, I won't complain either) and you can still kill baddies with a homing attack (Also in trailer).

Next: Tainting the Sonic name. I think you're getting worked up. 1. No matter how popular the game, I'd put money on the fact Sonic will never wield a gun, UNLESS its in some sort of mini game. Shadow is seen as a darker charachter, so giving him a weapon wouldn't create as much of a stir as if it was the happy sonic (From a charachter standpoint, not gameplay). 2. Its not sonic. a SHADOW game is getting a T (Most likely, anyway. While I'm not betting on it, I wouldn't say it cant be E.) and if its not Sonic pulling the tirgger, why go gettign scared Sonic os getting darker? They're just trying to show Shadow is dark, and IMO, people should atleast look at it and say "Hes not a Sonic Clone anymore" (Not completely anyway. I mean, besides for sonics moves, you see him flying/gliding, using Chaos Powers, using various guns, and his personality all just inforce hes meant as something different.

Now gameplay-wise, I can see where you're concerned, but it doesn't seem logical. You have Chaos Powers and jumping. Also, in regards to SH's post about it making the game harder: Well, perhaps this should be a welcome addition. I beat everything in Heroes with EASE (Besides for a couple of Emeralds) and I consider myself a less than skilled gamer. I mean, come on, I even beat S3&K with all Super Emeralds. If not using the guns provided a challenge, I'll welcome it as a Sonic (Or, Shadow) game that actually provides a challenge to an average+ gamer. That said, I DOUBT not using guns boosts the difficulty that much. Also, people are scared that the Guns lowers the speed of the game? Why complain when we dont KNOW that? Perhaps theres an auto-target system. Who knows. All I know is we're all getting worked up on something where we've seen ONE TRAILER. Come on, we see one trailer and already everyones ranting on how the GAMEPLAY slows things down. Cmon, atleast wait till a bit more screens/trailers/demos/information. Also, remember that December is awhile away.

Alright, I'm gonna post more later, when I'm not feeling so tired. Perhaps stayinmg up till 230 in the morning to play Star Fox: Assault wasnt such a good idea. Oh, and forgive the rant and perhaps the fact that paragraph 2 doesnt make sense: I sorta lost the idea I was proving halfway through. Basically, I just wanna say theres no point in getting worried about gameplay when we've seen so little of it. The after effects will very likely not be as dire as many have suggested, and the game MIGHT just be good, even if the guns are REQUIRED. We might not be seeing them in the way Sonic Team Intends for us to use them. And...I'll shutup now, seeing as this is most likely a rant that is not readable, and brings up irrelevant points. G'day/Night.

I don't think you got what I was saying; read back several pages, I made this really long rant that nobody replied to... it was about how it would break up the gameplay if, to shoot something, you had to STOP, not just once or twice, but SEVERAL TIMES. How the crap is something supposed to be speedy and fast-paced if you have to STOP? It's Heroes' biggest flaw (like, it ecliipses all other problems with the game), and it really makes me irritated that they don't give a flying semprini.

This was a franchise that was centered around smooth, seamless gameplay. A franchise where you could be guaranteed you would be able to get to point A to point B without excessive stopping and much, much running. Now it's completely lost its focus, at least in the 3D realm.

Yeah, I can see what you mean Shadow Hog, I'm pretty sure this is running off of the Heroes engine, and thusly it stands to reason that the gun will be like "Power" formation, able to take out the enemies with ease (which may tie in to why he has it), whereas conventional SA2 attacks will, as with Heroes, bounce off and you spend about 9 jumps until one dies, whiich is just as slow and annoying as ever.

I wonder if they're trying to recreate Sonic Heroes with only one character, as people hated all the characters shoved into Heroes and also the switching.

Geez, lighten up.

No.

We've never claimed complete freedom of speech. We do have restrictions on what you can say here.

It's called "following the rules". You accept that you've got to do it when you sign up to the board.

If you can't handle the fact that you haven't got the freedom to shoot your mouth off at anyone or anything you please, then not having understood that in the first place is your problem and nobody else's. Don't get on my case for it.

As it is, EE's apologised. Which, if it doesn't happen again, is okay.

Thank you, EE. 🙂

*tips hat to EE, and exits*

Carry on, everyone. 🙂

I prefer PSX's movie poster, it has alot more effort put into it than that one.

As the sort-of-creator of that image I have to take exception to that comment. I wasn't trying to come up with a movie poster, at most I would call it DVD box art. And I felt that, while I did like PSX's job, I didn't have to cover the image in text to make my joke, which is all it was. I mean, did you even notice that on the original box art for Shaft, Samuel L Jackson was standing in front of the same building that Shadow is now?

According to Sonic Stadium this is NOT the game that Yuji naka has been working on...

Something I thought I emphasized in my last post a few pages back apparently wasn't understood, so I'll re-explain what I meant...

I had said I was surprised by this game because SEGA has been so protective of Sonic's image, and I explained that I DID NOT mean just the character Sonic, but the image of the games as a whole. SEGA always seemed to want Sonic games to be very kid-friendly (yet not be childish), and this game doesn't seem to be that. Even though it doesn't have the "Sonic" name, it's just as much Sonic as Knuckles Chaotix was.

Of course, that's not going to stop me from playing the game, I just find it really, really odd that they would give Shadow realistic guns. It probably could have been a really good game with a good, dark story without them.

It's just a thought that occured to me but I think Shadow is using G.U.N. arsenals, which ARE human's weapons afterall. Probably why the guns are twice as big as he is! :^^;

You know Craig I think they could've done that wih Super Sonic in Heroes. He can definetly fly...has the speed and power is no problem. Now normal Shadow trying to take on all three, is a different story. Although he can do it...afterall he is the best character in the series. *banned form the forum*

P.S. Craig nice comic....:lol

Well, Shadow could pull off Speed Formation easily. With a press of a button his jet boots could have him in "fly formation" and another button will set off his "power formation" guns. Which is basically the way this reads to me, instead of switching, you're using the ability associated with that formation.

It doesnt sound that bad, we've still got another mainstream Sonic Game to pull of an improved engine, and this spin off to tie up Shadow's story and let the series move on...

I think the game might work too, I'm just saying that the game is obviously the result of that internet poll that SEGA did asking what people want in a game, and it seems that a lot of people replied with "GIEV SHADOW GUNS". I'm also generally pissed off because it's probably going to get an adult rating, which means I won't be allowed to get it, and I'm also pissed off because I voted Knuckles...

OK, rant over, I'll shut up now and stop voicing my opinions on a forum made for voicing your opinions. I'm sorry. (puts on the dunce cap and sits in the 'I'M A LITTLE GIRL WHO DON'T KNOW NOTHING' corner)

Yeah sounds like this title could really divide the fanship, especially if this sells well and Sega is more willing to take more risks...not like I care...

But hey it could be worse...we could get something along the lines of Amy Rose Hot Beach Volleyball or something along those lines...

You knew more than I did about SFGHQ... :p

As for the poll, this game was probably in development before the poll, it does take more than 3/4 months to make a game you know...

But, on the other hand, a Knuckles fighter game would be interesting, but possibly just as adult as this one...

Actually, the "blood" (I'm skeptical as to if it is) looks pink, and technically, Shadow isn't a kid. Of course, Shadow is ageless, so he could be considered a kid.

PS: Someone tell me how to quote!!! I hate doing it with the stupid underdash character.

People need to stop whining about the "rating." The only difference ratings-wise is the that gun looks somewhat realistic and Shadow kills genetically engineered monsters and knocks over humans. To talk like this is GTA or even anything with a substantive ratings difference from any other Sonic game is assinine. Actually the killing of live monsters (not seen before except in SA2) is the only thing I see as potentially more objectionable, and nobody seems to mention that.

And the blizzard of concern over the poor kiddies is somewhat reminiscent of all the kids who want games to be "mature," although less annoying. Age-based ratings are silly and the people they're supposed to protect are precisely the ones most likely to find value in what they're supposed to be protected from because society tells them they aren't supposed to have it.

Please. Whenever I talk to kids about video games (mostly boys), they always talk about how cool it was to see some zombie's brains blow up and how friggin' cool Halo is. Today's average pre-teen has played more mature games than the average adult did when they were that age.
Behold the future of the world. Be afraid. Be very afraid.
