FILM AT 11!!

There we go. Click this link below.

Yea, so it's a blog based on a rumour. Still gives me hope though. I guess we'll know come May 10th.

It's NiGHTS, not Knights...
I wouldn't get hyped over it just yet, I'll rather wait until E3. Btw, was Riders a failure? I downloaded the cutscene videos and it looked pretty awesome to me. ;_;

Not credible in the least. It's a rumour from Ni Channel BBS, otherwise known as 2ch and not to be confused with Futaba Channel BBS (2chan).

Actually, this is the first I'd even heard of 2ch being involved; all the other reports say they read it in the latest issue of Famitsu. Much more credible, I'd say.

Hmmmm. I'm cautiously optimistic, but it sounds like a good idea, what with this being NiGHTS' ten year anniversary and all. I'd still much prefer a port of the original though.

And 2ch got it from Famitsu whose rumors are nearly 99% true.

Though, I'm not saying that the game actually exists as it is still a rumor.

You know this could turn out to be nothing more than just a rumor, but coming from Famitsu we have a bit of hope. Think about the interviews over the past couple of years and such. Always saying something along the lines of "we think Nights is perfect and don't want to ruin the franchise."
We've been using the same basic control scheme for over a decade now, and for Naka and Sonic Team(when he was with them)amazing new graphic, 2 analogs, and a million buttons just weren't enough to justify a sequal. But if the Revolution controller is as amazing as developers are saying then this is a perfect way to bring Nights back into action, with a sequal that could potentialy play a million times better than the 1st.

Thanks for correcting my headline. I rushed that out too fast.

Kotaku is now mentioning the rumour as well. I really hope this ends up true.

A NiGHTS sequel? After 10 long years between the first game and several cameos throughout those years?

Ahem.

IT'S ABOUT FRIGGIN' TIME, SEGA!

Please, don't screw it up!

I'll believe it when I see screen shots.

even then, they could be a hoax, so I still won't believe it.

Until Yuji Naka himself comes out and says there will be NiGHTS 2 I won't pay any mind to this article.

Yuji Naka is the brain behind NiGHTS, right? (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.)

Didn't Naka just leave Sega? Or was that just an April Fools?

Best case scenario, I reckon, would be the original game and Christmas NiGHTS as unlockables on a new game.

Naka left Sonic Team a while ago to create a new studio with Sega's backing.

I don't believe it at all.

It's just a pipedream created by fans. Besides why does it say that it will be a Revolution/Go exclusive when SEGA has yet to say that they are supporting the Revolution?

People have been talking about a Nights sequel for years going back to Dreamcast, if it didn't happen then, It won't happen now.

Getting to the point, if Naka did leave Sonic Team to form an American division of ST then a Nights sequel is possible but why do you think that it will be a Revolution exclusive? When SEGA HAS NOT SAID THAT THEY ARE SUPPORTING IT!

My hope is the SEGA does surprise everybody this year, not just with new 360/PS3 or Rev titles but with an an almost inconceiveable annoucement that they are returning to the home console market with Lindbergh as a 256-bit console. I pray everyday that Sega does return the home console market and that since they probably have been working on a new console for a few years that it comes out way before PS3!!!(YEs, I'm crazy and I know it's only a slight chance but I hope it happens, cause I'm tired of the SEGA bashing, the dissing of Sonic as a kid freindly franchise, the unfair biased reviews of SEGA brand game titles and that harsh claim that SEGA is better off as a 3rd party publisher.)

Pat, how many times does it got to be drilled into you thick, anti-Nintendo head that Sega has said it supports the Rev?! It has been listed several times that it does so you might as well accept that fact and move on!

Also, if Sega was really going back to first party, would it really make games for its would-be competitors? I think not!

As for why it would be a Rev exclusive, it is because the motion sensitive Revmote would be used to fly NiGHTs essentially becoming NiGHTS itself; that and the fact that the others don't have motion sensitive controllers.

Pat, do you understand what it takes to release a system!?! It takes time, money, and marketing. If Sega were to release a new console, in say November, nobody would buy it. Not because it isn't good or anything like that, instead because no one would have heard about it.

I say it's even worse as a psycho Ninthing will delude themselves that Nintendo will be number one in the console race, while this dude actually goes far to delude himself that Sega will reenter the console race.

And maybe the deal with certain Sega titles were getting average to bad reviews because maybe they were *gasp* actually average to bad games. Granted not all post-DC Sega-developed titles recieve a bad review such as Super Monkey Ball 1 & 2, Panzer Dragoon Orta, Outrun 2, JSRF, F-Zero GX, VF4, etc.

And what Hiro said about the Sonic franchise.

SEGA would not launch a console in November, they never have because they have to meet thier fiscal in a six month period! Which means thier earnings come in during March! it would be late September or Early October if SEGA were to release another console.

Besides you're saying that nobody would buy it, yes they would. If it was more powerful than PS3(Lindbergh is.) and if it costed about $299 had great 3rd party support and if SEGA held a massive ad campaign people would buy it.

Oh and uhh Hiro, SEGA has not confirmed any Rev title, period.

I'm done now.

Pipe dreams. HUUUUGE pipe dreams.

Also, it would be silly to assume that Sega does have any Rev titles plans simple because the company have a history of supporting anything since they went 3rd party. I mean they released games for the friggin' Ngage and Gizmondo for goodness sake!

I'm willing to bet that we will more likely get NiGHTS 2 for the real next-gen consoles before a new Sega home console announcement.

Excuse me? Ofcourse that's true. Practically no developer that has said they're developing for the Revolution has confirmed any title as of yet. We really only know of 3 games for the Rev; Red Steel, Sadness and Dragon Ball Z: Sparking Neo.

And Super Smash Bros Revolution, Rob.

Pat, shoo on back to the Gaming Academy and spread your nonsense there. You're dragging this thread so far off topic that it's gone from being mildly amusing to being flat out annoying. And like anyone's going to want to play a console called "Lindbergh" anyway? Most kids won't even be able to pronounce it.

Back on-topic - I've never played the original NiGHTS, but for those who have - do you think there's much that a sequel can improve on, or would it be more of a rehash for the fans?

I have never played NiGHTS, and it's been ten years since the game came out, so, my guess is it will be a remake of the original with all sorts of new bells and whistles to make it worth the new system. I don't even care if it's on the Rev, PS3, or 360. Now it's just a matter of waiting for any info coming out at E3 (or possibly TGS since E3 is right around the cornor and only now we're finding rumors about this game.)

Pat, Lindbergh? Unfortunately for the people behind making it, casual gamers like myself haven't even heard of the Lindbergh gaming system. Unless it has a killer app with greatness rivaling Halo (the killer app that saved the Xbox), I doubt it'll make it far. Sadly, it's too difficult for a new console to hit the market and go anywhere without a ton of advertisement and great games. (Waits for Pat's counter attack.)

We havn't had any official announcements on new games from Sega, but they are supporting the Vurtual Consol for the Revolution. So if Sega is offering many of its games from the Genesis days, then I think its safe to assume they are working on something new for the revolution.

Guys, haven't we learned by now that you cannot argue with Pat L ever?

He's so fanatical in his beliefs that arguing with his flamebait ranting only serves to destroy perfectly good topics.

So please, guys, if he posts in this thread or any other like this, just try your very best to ignore him, for the good of the forum and yourself. It's not worth the stress of arguing with a person who so fervently believes that he is right no matter what despite all evidence to the contrary.

I really don't mean to be a backseat moderator here, but really this has gone on long enough, people.

(Sigh.)

I'm only going to say this once I mean one more time.

There HAS not been any official statment from SEGA at all reguarding any development for Revolution. That's final! okay?

If there really is then name several specific titles that they said they are developing for Rev/On and don't just say it. Show me some proof! Show me true links of real statements made by SEGA not rumors, true statements that I do not see noir can I find.

The reason why you've never heard of Lindbergh is because it's a arcade machine righ now! You hate arcade games and don't take the time to play import titles like me, I've already played House of The Dead 4! I enjoyed it and many SEGA brand arcade titles the recent ones, also Lindbergh IS the most powerful gaming hardware that exists now, read the specs and compare them to PS3 and 360 it has 3X more power than both consoles combined and is a 256-bit proccessor. AND it DOESN't USE PC graphics cards! It's only based off of PC hardware.

Oh and your saying it's too diffcult for SEGA to re enter console market, I don't think it is at all, I think the time is right for SEGA to come back, so people can trust them again stop bashing them, saying that Sonic is the only good franchise they have, stop saying thier better off developing games exclusivly for Nintendo,Sony, or Mircosoft and will refere to them as more than a 3rd party publisher and arcade maker.

Besides you saying that it will cost SEGA too much to build a new console it obviously didn't cost them too much to build new arcade hardware with superior technology. And please don't tell me that it cost less for arcade hardware to be built because if that were the case then SEGA would have built and released Lindbergh about 3-4 years ago not last year.

All I'm saying is that I trust in SEGA and believe that they can come back, and uh... Just because I don't like Gamecube and Rev or DOES NOT MEAN I HATE NINTENDO, I just think that Nintendo should just stick to making handhelds for now and just rethink their strategy with home consoles.

so if thier anybody who been flaming it's you, not me. I have not once Said "Nintendo sucks!" in the past few months at all I just said I don't think Revolution/On is a good idea, just because I don't dislike something does not mean I hate it. And if I think that Nintendo should just do what I just said it means I think it will help them retutn in several years if they ever stop making home consoles and learn from thier mistakes.

yeah but you have said that you think the Revolution is a bad idea many times in different threads. Some of which didn't have anything to do with Revolution.

They have made the new arcade tech to port games from Arcade to PS3/360/Revo.

And here is the clincher. If Sega do make a new console it wouldn't be a Sega but a Sammy.

Anyway Nights 2 on Revo. Naka did say he thought about an Air Nights for the Saturn.

You never know.

Listen, there's a better chance of Capcom going into the console market. It would be complete idiocy for them to re-enter the console race due to the fact there'd be too much competition and people would still be wary of them due to their past failures (Saturn and Dreamcast). And Sonic is the worst SEGA franchise as of this writing, I see nobody saying it's the only good one. Sonic Team has just lost their touch for making a good Sonic game. All your posting is nothing but inane dribble. You seem to be asking for proof when you have no substantial evidence for your claims either.

Sorry John that's not correct. SEGA's new console would NOT be a Sammy brand console, it would only have Sammy's name on it.

Sammy only owns half of SEGA's Japanese stock, they don't control the company or it's business decisions that just control half its stock and arcade division.

If Sammy owned SEGA than they would be called "SEGA/Sammy holdings and the 3rd party titles from SEGA would not have SEGA's name on them.

Besides SEGA just annouced a port of Virtua Tennis 3 for PS3/Xbox 360 and it DOES NOT LOOK LIKE IT WILL BE RELEASED FOR REVOLUTION.

Hey, Pat, since I am interested in carrying a debate with you, why don't we start a topic in gaming acadamy so that we don't have to worry about filling up this topic with stuff other than the NiGHTS for Rev rumor? In fact, I'll go start one now.

Back on NiGHTS, how on earth could it play with the odd controller the Rev has?

The Rev controller can detect your hand movement.

I figured that's how you get to control NiGHTS on this game (provided there's such a game).

But ya beat me to it.

With games now confirmed by Sega, the likelihood of a, if not THE, new Sonic title appearing on the system improve significantly.

Still, obviously we need more facts before a real conclusion occurs...but it would be only a fool who would say it was never coming at this point. :thumbsup

Fingers are firmly crossed for E3, I'd love to see NiGHTS as it was in SA:D X, but able to actually play the darn thing.

If it did become a reality, I fear the control method would rely on waving the wand around, which would tire your wrists after too much play.

This said, it'll be less tiring than Superstars version of NiGHTS.

Sega really seem to be the dark horse, this E3.

I'm finding this difficult to believe seeing as how Yuji Naka has said in past interviews that 1) He prefers to produce origial and fresh ideas, and 2) The only possible imrpovement to be made upon Nights would be a graphics update.
