Hey, I was just chillin' when I randomly looked at this page's banner. I looked at the small pic of "NiGHTS", and I remembered that I was curious about it.
I heard that this game was incredibly BEAUTIFUL and the vibrant colors and outstounding detail made this game appear to be more of a moving piece of art.
Or so I've been told.
Has anyone played this game? I'm really curious about it.
PS- No spoilers without a spoiler box! Who knows, I may just buy a SATURN and this game off ebay =P
What do you want to know?
Gameplay?
Graphics?
Music?
Dream analysis?
Be a bit more specific, and I can probably fill you in. =D
Lol, I guess I was a bit broad.
I already know about the story - so I'd really like to hear a firsthand review of the gameplay and music of the game -
And if they're planning on making any more!
Music's superb. Good listening music, if a bit quirky. It actually changes depending on how your "Nightopian" fellas are feeling (to explain it tersely, they're Chao prototypes); in my case, rather quickly to "angry at you" (I don't see how anyone CAN raise these things when the gameplay mechanics directly conflict with any such actions), but the music remains cheery regardless.
As for gameplay, it's a flying obstacle course. The idea is NOT to do it as fast as possible, but to get the best score (therefore getting the best grade) per section. Four sections, each with one objective: get 20 "chips" (blue orbs), toss them into the Ideya Container (weird looking claw-y things with orbs on their tops that you enter), and then return to the main temple with the respective Ideya (another orb thing). Do that four times, then fight a boss, which, depending on how fast you beat it, directly affects how much score you get (anywhere from what you came into the boss with to twice what you came into the boss with, so you can't really LOSE points), after which your overall score gets a grade.
To be honest, though, it's fun and all, but I don't see myself going back to it much. But hey, the game's only a fiver nowadays, so, provided you have a Saturn, you can't really go wrong.
i just recently got my nights.
AWESOME music
ok graphics, but its the gameplay that sets it apart from other games.
its hard to control when you first start buts its so much fun when you get the hang of it.
like shadow hog states its not about speed in the levels, thats were i went wrong for a while, till i took some time doing cool tricks and stuff.
but overall its a really fun game, but really really short; you could beat it within an hour if you get used to the controls fast
i only got to play the game once for a short time, with no idea what the controls were, or what i was supposed to do in the game.. but it was fun to fly nights around the level. ^^
My review of the game should explain the game to you.</shameless plug> Although it's a few years old now and the writing's not my best - I shudder at that reference to mainstream players in the last paragraph - but it gets the gist across.
Oh, and also: make sure you look at this. I still love that pic.
You do know you can play Nights on Sonic Adventure if you go to the Nights poinball machine and collect all the glowing balls for the Nights character you can play a level (Apparently.) I have tried it a long time ago but i failed on the last ball and it takes ages to get all the balls so i gave up maybe one day i will try again.
i got all of the balls last time i played adventure and nothing happened, i was hoping something would, but nothing did; maybe you have to do something special after that.
Thanks for all the info. The whole game looks so unique and fresh...well, fresh to me. Apparently the game's almost 10 yeras old now =P.

You couldn't play anything, it's just a cutscene.
i did wonder about the glowing ball thing, i once managed to collect 3-4 of them in one game.
is the 'cutscene' when nights picks you up and flys you through the hoops around the level? because i used to get that about twice a card game.
I have noticed that, while playing thru the NiGHTS pinball board that the spheres show up after a while. I don't know the requirements to get them, and the board never really could hold my interest long enough to find out. Not that it's boring, but after flying thru the same segments over and over again with little result, I got bored. Does anyone know he specific requirements to get the spheres?
i think its 200 rings or a 100 its something like that. it took me like 50 min. to do all of it.
also:
in nights how do actually interact with nightopians, all i can do is hurt them and nothing really happens, i heard its supposed to change the music or something wile doing stuff with them
That can't be all you have to do. I've gotten 300+ in there before. 0o Hmm. I should play it again.
oh and then you have to pass by where nights is and then you should get one. on the last one i had to get more than the usuall. just keep getting a crap load of rings and then pass by. i don't think it worth your time to do it since nothing really happens; you just have bragging rights saying you did it
*Cracks knuckles* Pass me a scalpel. It'sa dissectin' time! =D

Yes, interacting with the Nightopians does indeed change the music. Attacking them will make them angry, and destroying enemies (I think only Paralooping counts.) will make them happy. You can also cross-breed Nightopians and Nightmarians (The badguys) buy grabbing a Nightmarian and boosting them towards a Nightopian. If they connect, you've done it right.

Nope. Nothing.

The cutscene you're talking about happens when you reach the second board on the NiGHTS table. That board is based off the final level of NiGHTS, and when you launch the ball with enough strength up the left hand side, NiGHTS will grab Sonic, and take him for a fly around the level. It doesn't earn you anything, but it looks pretty.

Awesome game. Nothing in the way of plot progression but it doesnt matter. I was lucky enough to jump on the bandwagon when it first came out.
Just also have to add that the controller that came with my NiGHTS is one of the best controllers ever.
i know i love the 3d controller, i use it to play my other games
