Naka's company at work on a "concept" akin to "a sequel to Nights."

PROPE has teamed up with the writer from the Tales of... series to release a Wii/3DS game known as Tenkuu no Kishi Rodea.

The character designs are highly reminiscent of the Tales of... series (which are pretty much standard fare for JRPGs by now) and the level art has a NiGHTS quality to it (you can't look at the very last scan and think of anything but Spring Valley). I'm slightly surprised at how little attention this seems to have garnered. Naka usually can't sneeze without every Sonic fan hearing it, and yet this game has been in the works for over a year already sub silentio.

Hopefully, the Wiimote control implementation won't feel nearly as mind-knottingly stupefying as it did in Journey of Dreams. So...speculation is go?

Oh wow...that looks very interesting. Yuji's always been one of my fave developers. I hope this comes stateside. I want to try it out. Thanks for the heads up Rapid.

Sonic was all about completely taking over the land, and Nights brought
that same concept into the skies. I had always thought that action
games that take place in the sky are too hard for players to cope with,
but then I thought up a new method for dealing with it. ThatÒ€™s how this
project got started. If I had stuck around at Sega, then I might have
used this concept to make a sequel to Nights!

Gr... Fu... Ba.... Di.... God damm it Naka, way to troll NiGHTS fans. =(

The gameplay looks amazing, but the characters seem like generic anime which is a little disappointing.

Amazing indeed. As for the characters...yea...considering we've got no english voices/text the only possible saving factor for those characters is a group of wonderful VAs and clever writing. πŸ˜›
