EDIT: Alright, to keep this somewhat on topic, I'll give my least favorite character instead. I dislike Shadow because he is completely overpowered - he has about a million abilities thanks to his Chaos Control @#%$, and he's better than Sonic at the only real skill he actually has. His personality is filled with clichs (generic emo loner). And since Sega only brought him back because he's popular with kids, they didn't even bother giving him a backstory that isn't one giant plothole.

And Shadow is cool and my favorite, he's equal to Sonic in Speed, his rival, and his personality differs from Sonic, he's cliche but who isn't in this Sonic Game, plus the whole world? And I love his backstory gives me something to look back on and see how truly amazing Shadow is, and in a sense he's original since he's the first Sonic Character to have a past and he skates on thina air. And emo, name one Emo thing he did in SA2 and Sonic Next, plus They him back because he's a damn good character to develop on.

I don't see what to dislike about him when it's Sonic, and Metal who are the Gary Stus and the Overpowered characters.

And he as fast as Sonic because he's obviously his true rival. Like Wario to Mario.

Going off-topic isn't really offense unless you derail the thread completely and even then it's a really, really minor one. Moreover, Deckman hasn't really been off-topic in this thread; certainly nowhere near off-topic enough to be considered derailing the thread in the slightest. All of this posts were either relevant to the main topic (discussion of favourite characters) or about the the thread itself. Just relax and carry on with the discussion, there's really nothing to get worked up about here. Definitely nothing to report anyone about. We're pretty loose about what's considered on-topic here, hell, you could say we encourage people to go deviate slightly from the original topic as it promotes, y'know, interesting discussion, which is sort of what discussion forums are about.

BTW, so I'm not completely off-topic (which I wouldn't be anyway), my favourite character is Emerl. Why? Let's blow this taco stand.

Deckman wasn't bashing: he stated his opinions and gave his reasons for holding those opinions. That's been the definition of not bashing since day one.

Also, while you may not want least favourite discussions, that's all well and good, but why shut down an avenue of discussion like that? People can have as much fun debating their most favourites as least favourites provide everyone's mature about it. Don't be such a killjoy.

Because people mght get offended by that so called posters opinion and they will spam the topic with defending that so called character.

My least favorite is most definitely Shadow.

I mean, everything about him screams that he was created just to pander to the lowest common denominator of gamers, 13-years-old boys. There's nothing interesting about him or his character, and his backstory is, in a word, highly f***ing retarded.

So yeah Shadow is a completely pointless character who needs to be permanently killed off and never return ever ever ever.

Dude, for serious, drop the attitude plz. There's no need to lash out every time someone even slightly contradicts you. I'm just trying to educate you on the way this forum is so you'll fit in better and have a better time in the long run. We're a reasonable bunch mostly, we won't start spamming if someone says something we don't like (also, plz explain how exactly defending a character in a topic about favourites is spamming), and we generally prefer free and unrestricted discussion than the threadstarter getting uppity every time someone goes puts just one foot off topic.

Also, if you think I'm spamming, you have no idea what spamming is. Check out the SPA (currently known as TO THE MAX!) at some point if you want to see spam. Hell, most of that's pretty mild as far as spamming goes.

Anyway. I'm gonna try and say no more on the subject and let you everyone get on with the thread. That is, unless Shadsy can find another fav. char. thread, in which case this one'll probably be locked for redundancy.

And No Shadow is not the lowest common denominator for gamers, he is the highest pinnicle of Sonic revolution and totally deep and intriging depht, plot and change to Sonic The Hedgehog(Franchise). His character appeals to all people, wheter it be children or teenagers or adults, he's a universal and full fledged likable Rival type character with many qulities you find in other franchises such as Mario, Megaman, Naruto, Avatar and more. So it's an understaement when you say that he's pointless when he's really not but really appealing to kids(since Sonic is supposed to be aimed at kids in the first place.)

Shadow is one of the best video game character ever concevied in Video Gaming. I I wish he was appearing more and more in ever Sonic Game because it was him that gave me hope in the Sonic Fanbase. Shadow The Hedgehog, I hope you stay forever and ever and ever.

Getting back on topic, do you know, I haven't really thought about my favourite Sonic characters in a while.

Sonic himself will always be one of my favourites, I reckon. I mean, his attitude's a bit tacky (okay, a lot tacky, but hey, it was the nineties), but I love the whole carefree adventurer doing it for the fun of it stereotype. It actually makes a change from the whole dark and brooding anti-hero thing these days. :O

Chaos and Gamma from SA1 are pretty cool too. Now, the Sonic franchise as whole isn't gonna win any literary prizes by any stretch of imagination, but within the series itself Gamma was one of the more interesting characters with the way he went from super robot killing machine to super robot killing machine.. with a heart. Aww. Plus his ending, man, with his metal shell exploding and the cute little birdy inside being set free to fly of with his family, why, it rots my teeth but melts my heart. Also, unlike a certain other tragic character, SEGA left him alone. I mean, seriously, I wouldn't have had so much of a problem with Shadow if he just stayed dead god damn it. But noo, he's popular with the kiddiwinkles, so they brought him back and even gave him his own damn game. I digress.

As for Chaos, well, he's Chaos. Super shapeshifting water god of destruction... with a heart. Aww.

I also liked Gamma personally. Really, he's what shadow should of been. Interesting, with a fairly good plot, and once he "died" he stayed dead. I also like Knuckles, though not so much for the game Knuckles but the Archie Comics Knuckles.

Fave Character:
Tails (not current Tails)

The Tails we all knew and love is long gone.
He used to be Sonic's best main buddy who he could look up to. His sciency wiz-kid is getting old. It makes him act like that is all he could do. Sonic Battle is the only current game that shows, sparingly, what his fighting skills are like. When was the last time you could control Tails without using something that would just make him solo and mobile like he did in S3&K? Advance series don't count. Sonic Adventure was it? If they would get rid of all of those negatives, then I would love Tails again.

Nuctos, that line was funny from Sonic Battle.

Okay I'm about to scream, why are you people bringing up Shadow, and I think your all wrong about Shadow staying dead in SA2, he had an original moveset, with his chaos powers in battle he could of been a balanced Sonic Character with the same Sonic moves but his specialty lied in Chaos and Meele Attacks.

Another Fav of mines is Big The Cat, I like his lazy personality and his carefree nature showing me you don't have to be a hero to be a totally carefree dude.

Perhaps if you showed more maturity and accepted others opinions instead of having a hissy fit they wouldn't be provoking you.

Original moveset? Surely you can't mean in SA2? Let me think. Run, jump, roll, spin-dash, and homing attack. Nope, Sonic could do all of those before Shadow could. The only thing new he brought to the table was chaos control, but you couldn't even use that in the single player, only in two player, where Sonic could do it too. :O

Cream

For one thing, I consider her pretty normal and such. Even though she seems to be the one getting kidnapped and cries a lot, she's just a kid. She's the only one that'll pretty much stay on the sidelines most of the time, but when she does enter the fray, she can hold her own. In the games, she's pretty good to play as, and is deadly when using Cheese.

Tails

I was glad for once in SA1 and 2 when Tails actually stepped up to the plate and did something for once, and it set him on the path of getting out of Sonic's shadow and being more than a side-kick.

Blaze the Cat is an okay character, though her character development could've been better in Sonic Rush.

ChaoRcuuuuuuuuute, try not to provoke the guy any more than he already has been, please. :O If you don't agree with his favourite characters, attack the characters, not the poster.

Shadow does not suuucccccckkkkkkkkkkk, and thats my honest opinon.

Hey man, @#%$ you (Author's note: "@#%$ you" is said in jest and is not meant to be taken as a serious insult). I liked Big in Sonic Adventure because he was a funny, carefree guy who didn't have to get caught up in that whole hero/villain business. I wasn't a fan of his fishing gameplay, but I liked him as a character. He also gets points for only appearing in one game and not getting raped along with the rest of the franchise (I'm pretending that Sonic Heroes doesn't exist).

Also, this doesn't really count towards my opinion of him, but he was totally a stoner.

Because this thread wasn't intended to be mainstream with opinions on disliking Shadow or Big, I said it once before this is a favs thread, not a least favorite thread.
