When I first read that I thought only people who went to E3 had actually voted on it. But no everyone voted on it.
It seems like there is more 'net hype in general for Gears of War, Mass Effect, Lost Planet, MGS4(even if it is a 15 min trailer), and the Wii than Sonic 2K6 during and after the E3 Honeymoon.
*looks at the above list of games* Jeez, even if this game turns out good there is still a chance that this game could actually bomb.

Speculations and tribulations... One Classy Bloke of the GHZ forum has let slip that StH may very well be a continuation of Sonic Rush. The "everyone that was in Rush comes back except for one" line pretty much sealed the deal.
The "one" is apparently Cream. Yes, that means what you think it means.
As some of you should already know, OCB was the one who informed us of the final character list for Riders, which the community as a whole doubted severely until the truth came out. If it was anyone else I'd take it with a grain of salt, but now...
EDIT: Oh, and it would seem that a 4th "new" hedgehog will emerge.
Now, I expect this thread to be nice and lively when I get back from work.

Well, Sonic Rush DID revitalize the 2D Sonic games, so it might not be TOO bad....
...and Blaze WAS awesome, and the new hedgehog may end up being even funnier than the Sonic/ Amy or Knuckles/ Eggman scenes- who knows?
...though I'm hoping this news really IS bupkiss.
BTW.. PLEASE let it be on PC!! I'm gonna be buying AT LEAST the Wii, PSP, and about 5 games this fall as it IS. Even if my birthday IS October 29, and I CAN save up that money 'tll November, I'll STILL be too broke to buy a PS3 or 360.
Wow I hope that info about the new hedgehog is false. Honestly, I wish we still only had the first trailor (Sonic running from bots and going Super) of this game to base anything off of, because then it was simple and now all this stuff is boggling my mind.

Well, I read what OCB said. He said he has read some of the script in Sonic's story. That could mean anyone could still turn up in Silver's and Shadow's stories.

The abundance of characters would be acceptable if the game was long enough to hold them. Now we have enough characters in a game to fit a
a)Metal Gear Solid Game
b) A Final Fantasy Game
One Classy Bloke statements leaves me with mix feeling. I do feel more comfortable with the fact that the game is being beta tested like crazy (camera please let it be fixed) but the use of Sonic Rush continuation is strange. Although a advance character like Cream becoming used in console and in anime was a shock too before anyway.
What if the new hedgehog was Iblis? I heard that demon thing was a boss in Silver Level City Crisis so techically it could just be lackey although I am not betting on Sonic Team Originality post Sonic Heroes.
I was thinking before on my way to Wales, y'know, letting my mind wander, and then I came to STH 06, why did Silver come back from the future? And I came up with this definately inaccurate scenario...
Shadow was created by Gerald Robotnik, right?
What if, being inspired by Grandpa, Ivo Robototnik made Sonic? And, in the future, Robotnik had a son, another scientist, who made Silver...
Now, some time after Silver's creation he was decieved by Iblis, and killed an innocent person (human or furrie, I don't care). He discovers this person was innocent, and uses the time stones (ah, Sonic CD) to travel back in 'time' (time is a human concept, linearity is the easiest way to deal with existence, in reality past and future don't exist or past present and future all exist at once, let's assume it's the latter, for fun) and stop himself, he travelled too far back and met his 'grandfather' Ivo, of whom is wiping out a country, Solinia, at this time. He hates his grandfather now, realizing that killing him would result in his own non-existence, and therefore stopping the murder, and stopping this hell, his creator was like this too...
But Nature abhors a paradox, but the time stones allow anyone to alter anything, this would be too big a paradox, unable to stop it, nature would destroy itself, and thereby destroy everything. This was Iblis' plan, all along, now, Sonic, Silver and Shadow must stop him at all costs!
Ridiculous of course...
A Rush continuation wouldn't be too bad, but Rush was really kiddy, Sonic Heroes kiddy, this game certainly isn't, this is more of an SA2... Oh well... who said the sequel can't be darker?

And by saying this you realize you're saying Silver was at Never Lake on the last day of the last month of the year he's from(I think thats how it goes) and managed to get to The Little Planet and collect the Time Stones. Yea that sounds legit. =P If Sonic or any other involved character(Robotnik, Amy, or heck even Metal) ever mentions the Time Stones i'd pee on my self. >_> Nice little back story though.
As speculated, the supposed "new" hedgehog may not be an all-new character altogether. It could be a powered-up form of a previously known character. Thing is, according to OCB the character's CG artwork is impressive but not conclusive on it being a hedgehog.

You know, with the recent revelation (more like extreme confirmation) of Naka's DBZ fetish (he had tapes of the show sent to his US office while working on Sonic 2)... and with all these hedgehogs running around, it wouldn't be surprising to see the fusion power-up worked into the series somewhere. Really, it's only a matter of time.

That would, in my opinion, be very smart of Sonic Team; they are -- and I can quote -- going to try and use some old stuff.
Now, at first, I shook my head at the whole time traveling thing -- but with the use of the time stones, that'd make so much more sense and make things so much more "solid."
Anyways, what I REALLY want to see is something about the Super Emeralds again. You can't possibly know how much I want to see Hyper Sonic in full 3D glory, and be able to play as him.

Time Stones technically would make the most sense for Silver appearing. But I'd doubt they would make an appearance again. Been a long time since Sonic CD and I think most people would have forgotten the Time Stones at Sega.

They did remember Amy's tarot card reading skills in Battle and they also had a flashback in Sonic Adventure about the events in Sonic CD.
Let's not forget Gems Collection came out recently. People's memories of CD could probably have been rejuvenated a bit.
Oh, and SoR was in there too... so maybe SoR4 could happen? Please, Sega? It's not like there's much better around anymore (I guess The Warriors was supposed to be good, but I don't have a PS2 so I never played it)...

There was a lot of those roaming beat em ups released recently. Warriors and MK: Shaolin Monks are meant to be quite good. Spikeout and Final Fight: Streetwise and The Namco one is meant to be poo.

As for this rumor of fourth hedgehog maybe is... a future and possibly EVIL version of Sonic (see Danny Phantom The Ultimate Enemy ). Maybe that why he after Sonic.

Gamer TV had a short preview of Sonic the Hedgehog. All I say is that it looks okay. More interested in Silver's gameplay for some reason. The whole bending metal thing and platforms. It does look nice though.

I wouldn't be that surprised if they went back on Shadow's 'moving on' at the end of his game and have him want to utilise Silver's method of time travel to go back in time and save Maria, or prevent his own creation or.. some crap. I don't know, but in the end, of course, he'd not succeed. And possibly cause some disaster in the process. And then Silver would be all like "Oh no, I got it wrong, Shadow is the trigger". Sonic would give him the finger and go off to right it all, muttering "why should I go around cleaning up all of your messes?".
And how would all these things fit together, you ask?
They wouldn't.
Being serious, I hope that the story is indeed decent and that they're not lying about 'aggressively addressing' the camera/control/ledgedeath issues.
