Big Sonic The Hedgehog/Wild Fire/Rivals Previews in Gamesmaster this month.
Unfortuently nothing new that hasn't been confirmed anywhere. I think there are some new screens of Silver though. They didn't fall into the trap of saying its going back to its roots and said it was a bit like Adventure.
Quick points:
* They confirmed that you will be able to replay all the levels as any of the three characters.
* Elise could actually be a love interest for Sonic.
* The Fire Monster is Iblis
* Not much on Shadow really but they mentioned blasting. (Maybe rather than guns, Shadow uses his Chaos powers like in Battle. My prediction). As well as the car thing.
* There is some street board action.
* RPG Upgrades are definatly in but Sega aren't saying anything.
They showed how different Sonic and Silver was in the same level. While Silver can fly, Sonic has to run and avoid debris.
Not much on Wild Fire and Rivals really.
Also I dowloaded the Sonic the Hedgehog Hi-res trailer (And I've worked out frame by frame action on quicktime) if anyone wants to nose at something post a request or what ever.
The Pope?

Nooooooooooooooooooooo! I want Elise X Eggman!!! DX
Elise is probably like too young for Eggman(I peg her to be in her teens), unless you support the Pedobear's agenda.
Then again the game already sounds messed up since it could have some beastality leanings.
...wait...does this mean that there would be some badly excuted love-triangle sub-plot shoehorn in this story? =(
And Sonic kissed Elise and love took their true form and Sonic turned into a human...
And there was much hammer related hirlairity from Amy...
This left the writers of the Archie Sonic Comic with quite a pickle...
Leaving the future games in the hands of Shadow...
Prompting millions of Sonic fansites to close and/or rename from Sonic to Shadow...
And a new craze started much like cel shading and eating stuff in games to make you fat, where furry characters turned human. Ratchet, Crash and for some reason Bubsy...
And then Sega released Shenmue 3. And all was forgiven.
Qoute The Johnman never more...

Fixed
Jon, there would have been badly drawn porn of the two whether they were togather or not. That's just how badly drawn fan porn works.
O_O @ WW's response. XDXD! @ John's crazy post.
The wierd thing is that I've just watched a documentary on Nostradamus.

Return of the light dash shoes/ancient light style upgrades?
Intresting.
Also, it says that there are bonus missions from people in the town stages.
I think it will be a bit like Heroes the whole upgrading thing. For example you have vanilla flavoured Homing Attack and eventually it gets more powerful untill like in Heroes Sonic performs an automatic tornado and blows the shield off a robot.
I think Sonic starts out with the Light Dash though.
The "Level up" system was one of the many negative things that happened in Sonic Heroes. Having to destroy robots in more than one hit made the game slower-paced that it should have and killed a certain flow the Sonic platformers usually had prior to that.
What I'm hoping for is the RPG-like upgrades are more in the vein of the Sonic Adventures where you just get new moves to assess different paths of the level instead of killing enemies faster.
If they want to apply "leveling up" in a Sonic game then they should just make a Sonic RPG.
Mmmmm... Sonic RPG...
*imagines Sonic running across the world map at lightning speeds only to enter a random battle and fight enemies in KH style with homing attack, spindash and various new attacks.*
If only...if only...
I was thinking more of a Sontroid myself.
Howabout a Tails of Sonicia?
Never played a Tales game in my life, actually. No excuse, I know, but it's a fact.
Might as well, start with Symphonia since out of the availible Tales game in the US, it have the best battle system and it's pretty cheap to obtain. Or you can wait for Tales of the Abyss which is coming out this fall for the PS2 and it's supposed to be an improvement on Symphonia.
Phantasy Sonic Online?
Final Fanstasy Sonics?
I just wanted to be cool.
Oooo SonicMue?
Fountain
People
Is he wearing a sweater around his neck?
Totty?
Awwww.... you know you are John.
It looks SEGA has rehired the humans from Sonic Adventure. Jeez, even the humans are coming back from previous games.
Speaking of humans I wonder if the Station Square twins will be back for this one? I miss them
it looks more like everyone's shrunk, rather than Sonic's grown a few foot, lol
The pictures does make it seem that Sonic's awfully big.

Fixed.
Flash THD from the GHZ Forum posted scans for the magazine article that John was talking about.
I swear that the guy in the second picture is actually the motorbike shop owner from Shenmue.
I think its more of a case that Sonic is leaning forward and the humans aren't on level with him. Sonic is shorter than the humans but not as much as Adventure.

That guy looks nothing like Ono-San! The guy facing the screen looks like the owner of the Heartbeats Bar though.

Agreed. Sonic is probably slightly taller but by human terms is probably still considered small.
I can't remember where exactly, but I read somewhere, probably in one of my mags, that Sonic was around 5'6". I remember at least that part because now the "little" freak is taller than me.
Sonic is officially a launch title for the PS3 (for those who can afford it).The 360 version comes out the same day too
Unless I read the magazine article wrong, I'm surprised no one has went wild over this bit: "expect multiplayer racing and time attack/ring-snaggling changes."
This game officially gets 500 extra points from me.

I thought it was because it's expected.
Now if it was confirmed to be online...

Yeah, that's what the article said -- expect all of that on Xbox Live.
I'm never more proud to be a member of the service. 😀
No it just says that Sonic is going to be online.
They are dreaming of online racing, co op etc. Online play hasn't been confirmed. All we know is that there is going to be some sort of online mode.
Sorry to interrupt the topic here, but is there an Mp3 avaiable for Kingdom Valley? You know, the music from the gameplay video that Sega of America had on their site? Much Appreciated.

Thanks very much.
No prob. ^_^
Out of curiosity, is that Kingdom Valley BGM from the stage proper or from the 'high-speed section'? If it is from the slower-paced section, it doesn't fit very well, I don't think.
-Jake
Kingdom Valley sounds like boss music! Quite aggressive.
2 of them. With one more on the way. First One is the Silver Level (Weighing in at 90MB) Second One is Sonic's Kingdom Valley with no sound (Weighing in at 218MB)
Go 56Kb! Woooo 8%!
The HUD is secksy.
Is it me or did they cut some parts out of the Sonic video? The parts where I presume the player falls into bottomless pits, since his life meter went down from 5 to 2, but it actually doesn't show him dieing.
Btw, Silver looks slightly faster this time around.

After seeing that guy play, I wouldn't be surprised if he died 3 times.
The game overall looks amazing, though it's nothing without some sound! Silver's gameplay looks very fun, and November is too far for my reach.
BTW: Your signature is very hypnotic, Erika.
Bah, they don't allow resuming. 22% all gone. Poor little 56K Modem. Its not your fault you are slow.
Anyway watch out for the 3rd video.
Third video is up. Again, no sound, and it's not really anything new unless you haven't seen it before.
Personally, I hate the split of these "mach speed" zones and the normal zones; I wish they were merged together. In the mach speed zones, for those who didn't know, Sonic constantly runs forward automatically, which is kinda taking away a basic control. You move faster when you get the rings -- which is somewhat cool.
I guess I'll have something to try and master once I get my hands on this.
This new sonic game for the 360/PS3 looks pretty sweet! Ive seen gameplay footage and it looks awesome!
'Kay.
I'm just wondering here, seeing as old levels may be returning maybe that un-named jungle level is Aquatic Ruin or even Labyrinth. The jungle level does look more similar to those two levels.
On the topic of the new Sonic.
I don't want to digress from how amazing the game looks and I'm sorry if this has already been mentioned, (I don't come here often) but I've just made a posible storyline connection.
Sonic Rush: SOL Emeralds
Next Gen: City of Water; SOLeanna
Any connection does anyone think.
Feel free to specualte on this or ignore it. I don't mind either way!
Nice to see you stop by. And yes it has been brought up, but nice to see others are thinking along the same line. =)
Now there are several reasons why this could just be the original game shined up for PC like:
1) Look how cheap it is...
2) Sega normally take half a year to port a console title to PC.
3) No synopsis or any idea of what this is.
4) No announcement from Sega.
5) No sign of the GBA Sonic The Hedgehog port.
6) Could be a amazon goof.
But on the flip side
1) Full price Xbox 360 CoD2 was double the price of the exact same game on the PC.
2) The release dates are close.
3) No synopsis on any of the other StH ports.
4) There was that flyer with Sonic, Shadow and Silver.
anyways fingers crossed etc.
I'm actually a little disappointed with the first level/zone that I keep watching...
Although they say there's lots of different paths to take, it's STILL only a limited track to get to the other side - with the usual bottomless pit to fall down, all the way through the entire level!
I was hoping for something a bit more like in the original preview pics we saw:
img.gamespot.com/gamespot...een001.jpg
I get the feeling it's going to be like that through 70+% of the game at this rate.
One Classy Bloke's confirmed it: there is a PC version coming around the same time as the 360 and PS3 versions, at least in Europe. Hence, why Amazon.co.uk shows it, but Amazon.com doesn't.
Even though I doubt I'll be able to play it, I hope it comes out on the PC -- just think of the mod possibilities!
>_< Geek! Yea so i'm just wondering who all the characters will be that'll make cameos. I hope The Chaotix make an appearance. =) I wonder how the bosses will be. Hopefully not like Sonic Heroes, with the actual HP. Although now that I think of it, that wouldn't be too horrible. I'd rather the bosses not even have health bars, like on old school games you know. Keeps you wondering how many hits. Until it was discovered that 8 hits was the number. lol
I'm now torn... do I buy it for the PC (which I already have but will likely crash if I so much as play a DVD on it) or do I buy a 360 for the sole purpose of playing a new Sonic game?
I never did like XBox. I don't think I want a 360... Peice of junk'll probably crash on me. I don't think I can afford a PS3! And Nintendo is suicidal!! And I never, ever could get into PC gaming.
It was bound to happen. I start to move on, leave my childhood days behind... this generation of gaming could be my last as anything but an occasional gamer.
