I'm now torn... do I buy it for the PC (which I already have but will likely crash if I so much as play a DVD on it) or do I buy a 360 for the sole purpose of playing a new Sonic game?
It's all about what'll be best for you in-the-end. If you go for the PC, you'll most likely have to spend a load of money upgrading the PC. Can this upgrade benefit you via any other means? Are new possibilities opened for you? Also look into other PC games, and maybe there are some that you could, in the future, try out.
If you get a 360, do you plan on playing it after burning down Sonic? Look at all the titles in it, titles planned on coming out, and even play some games yourself if you can manage access to a 360 somewhere.
If you have broadband, I automatically recommend the 360, but if you don't, then maybe you'd like the PC version. Again, it's all that comes up top in the end of it all.
Yeah, I wouldn't get a new console just for one game. If you are planning on purchasing a X360 then I hope you are interested in WRPGs, FPS, racing games, a scant few of Japanese games like Dead or Alive, Trusty Bell, and Ninja Gaiden, and Viva Pinata.
Thanks.
If I get the game at all, it will probably be for 360, unless Sony wakes up and offers a 'stripped down' package like Microsoft does (except I don't think there is much about the PS3 that can be stripped down without changing the actual hardware's performance).
I love Rare, anyway, and I've missed them since they left Nintendo.
-Jake
Viva Pinita scares me, the animals with those eyes. Also don't forget Rumble Roses XX. Not porn at all that. >_>
There is already a stripped down version of the PS3 for America and Japan. It has no HD TV output things and a 20 gig hard drive and no memory card slots. Still expensive though.
Quote:
no memory card slots.
Does that mean you can't save your data
I think it just means that the data is saved within the system. Otherwise it would be a completely mindless move on Sony's part.
Yes Playstation 3 saves your data onto the 20 gig hard drive. You know the one I mentioned. The version that isn't coming to Europe.
Also the Playstation 3 is self aware. If you also own any other console it will install linux onto it. Also it will steal your soul if you play preowned games on it. And you never go online with it. Honestly. It will be like Terminator 1-3 never happened. It will turn in to a Giant Enemy Crab. The only time you know its dead is when it screams RIIIIIIIIIIIIIDGE RACER!
Then when all the Playstation 3s are dead Sega will rise from the ashes and turn the Lindberg arcade board into a sandwich maker. A sandwich maker that will play Shenmue 1 and 2. But not 3. Because 3 is saved for Playstation 4.
I can only imagine the crazy insane things that occur in your freakish mind John...
Is it wrong that that made sense to me, Mr. Taylor?
-Jake
No, because great minds think alike.
Anyway back on topic...
Any ideas when the next load of news and screens will appear?
Hmmm... TGS? *shot*
Has any box art been revealed been for this game yet?

None as of now. I don't expect to see any till near release of the game.
John, as soon a you said Sega will rise with the Lindbergh, I had to double check to make sure you weren't Pat...
Question!
Even though the designers keep claiming that the levels have multible paths, the videos we're getting don't show that. My guess is since it's been (sort of) confirmed that all three playable characters go though the same level, maybe the paths are just ways only one chracter can get to?
Well, at least in Sonic's first level there seem to be alternate paths to take. Each video starts off the same way, but takes a different route later on.
The latest video for example has Sonic going through an underwater part (or at least it looks like it's underwater) for a moment, I had not seen this part in any other run-through.
Furthermore in one of the E3 videos the player kept on dieing taking one route, so instead he chose another and finished the level taking that one. I remember the place where he restarted at (where the blue post was) had 3 possible routes excluding the one he got there with.
While this is already an improvement, I would greatly prefer if you had no "walls" ,or bottomless pits for that matter, around the areas you can go through. It would be better to have a field to explore, where you can go virtually everywhere, provided you know how to (e.g., to get to the top of a tall platform you'd need to find a hidden spring, which you gain access to by wall-jumping).
I really don't like the way the paths are set above a giant bottomless pit al Windy Valley.

ala Sonic Heroes!! Although Crisis City isn't as bad so at least we know its not going to happen for a whole game, like in Sonic Heroes. I think what we are going to see here is Sonic Adventure - next gen, which is fine by me.
I do think the levels do offer multiple paths and exploration for Sonic. The previews have gone into explicit details about that.
Videos don't tend to show that because they have to show of the game in a short of time as possible.

I agree -- I'd like to be able to rocket 5 miles into the air, and know I'll land somewhere -- like in Emerald Hill of Sonic 2.
Studying the full trailer video, there are very tiny footages of a level that reminds me of Aquatic Ruin, and it seems to have a full ground all around. One can only hope; it looks like a really fun map.
Yea I woith these games had actual bottoms. Instead of everlasting falls of death. Even levels with water, I wish it was like Aquatic Ruin. You can still go underwater. Not like Emerald Coast where you fall into an ocean of water. =/ You'd think with all the space on the disc now, they could literally eliminate bottomless pits, and let anywhere be part of the level. Oh well. Here's hoping.
In sega's eyes, Speed is far more important than everything else, including freedom of exploration.
...And fun, for that matter.
This game looks like fun though...
But then so did Heroes.
I just figured out what 'Back to the roots' means, there are too many characters now, the Iblis Trigger is supposed to cause many deaths, Sonic used to be on his own in his original games....
OMG!
Everyone (excluding Sonic, and maybe Tails or Knuckles) is gonna die! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!
OK probably not, but we can dream.
And Shadow, since he's a major cash cow for Sega. Sadly, all that would do is clear the playing field for an entirely new cast to replace the old one... (The only thing I would like out of that is if Blaze became Sonic's love interest..... SonicXBlaze supporter )
Judging by the tidbits given, SonicxElise seems more likely than SonicxBlaze. XD
The only thing I would like out of that is if Blaze became Sonic's love interest..... SonicXBlaze supporter )
Wait.
Blaze = Sonic from another demension
So, BlazeXSonic = SonicXSonic? 0o
Ponder with me.
Sonic Stadium has 2 short interviews with Shun Nakamura(director) and Masahiro Kumone(producer) about the STH. The only new info I see is about Silver personality.
Quote:
Sonic is what I'd like to say, but for me, it's Silver. Silver is a new character who uses supernatural powers. It's very refreshing and fun being able to enjoy an action completely different from Sonic. Silver is young and a little immature, but that's also what attracts me.
Other than that nothing new except promises that I hope unlike Yuji Naka they can keep them.
Have these screenshots been posted yet? Some interesting stuff here (including what might be the supposed fourth hedgehog...?), and it's nice to see that Shadow's actually on foot.
Those screenshots are damn sexy. Our supposed 4th hedgehog looks like a crystallized Shadow clone, and it seems angst-hog will be facing off with it.
What the hell could that be?
The Iblis Trigger? A black hedgehog? A new robotic Sonic? God? And does Sonic Team realize there are thousands of other species of animals to choose from? Hopefully it's a hedgehog for reason.
Nice photos though, thanks for posting them. I am loving that jungle level -- mainly because it seems to have a FULL GROUND!
Also, I'd love to know what Shadow's abilities are this-time aorund. His movements from those images seem very interesting. And look, no guns.
^Five bucks says he turns good at the end.
~Nytloc Penumbral Lightkeeper
Ten bucks says Eggman does too.
Fifty says he completely forgets that he was good by the next game.
XDXD! Oh man. fifty bucks he forget sby the next game. Hahahaha. That "mystery" hedgehog looks awesome. Shadow does seem to not be using guns. Odd. I hope he isn't though. =) That 4th hedgehog looks pretty cool. He looks almost frozen kinda.
Spoilers (Select To Read): Maybe it's Shadow from the future, after he gets crynogenically* frozen again.
Idiot question, I'm sure, but is there any way to enlarge those new images on the website? My prematurely Old Man Eyes are straining to see that new hedgehog... let alone any significant detail, period. And yes, I do have my contacts in.
-Jake
Just click on 'em.

I see a lot of water, and a Hedgy who can't swim...even so, here's hoping it is only a few inches deep...
No, here's hoping you can ACTUALLY go underwater this time and NOT die upon touching
Heck yea. I want Aqautic Ruin. =)
Holy crap the fourth hedgehog look cool. He remind me of Space Godzilla all cover in crystal and all. I wonder if this hedgehog is part of the story or just a random boss that you fight that look just like Shadow? Best of all Shadow doesnt have any guns . Also the jungle look pretty cool too.
<3 @ return of the Dry Oasis turtles
Crystalhog looks awesome. Why is he always holding some huge energy ball?
It's funny that you say it's nice that Shadow's on foot. He's touching the ground in only one or two of those pictures. XD
Those bots in the swamp level look disturbingly like GUN bots. And the whole level looks like the swamp area from Majora's Mask. o.o
Somehow I doubt the lava monster will be the final boss becuase Silver fights him. My bets are on the evil crystal hedgehog. (o.o @ the little Chaos-esque monsters it has)
I found something interesting in Games Faqs. Knux Chao posted this:
img.photobucket.com/album...shadow.png
It shows that maybe, just maybe, the Crystal Shadow might be Shadow own shadow in physical form. It just a theory but Iblis or whoever it was, may have brought Shadow's shadow to life to fight him. Also if I remenber correctly wasn't the fourth hedgehog orange and not indigo like this hedgehog is ?
So Shadow's fighting his... shadow? Does that mean Sonic and Silver may face theirs? Is this a power of the Iblis Trigger?
Find out next time!
Interesting stuff. Makes me kinda wish I had a 360 to play the game on when it comes out. Too bad my money's going elsewhere.

That was just a rumor.

Shadow's shadow doesn't look like the other shadows underneath the characters in the game. Maybe it's just part of the fight, like King Boom Boo.
Here, in another screenshot, you can see the crystal shadow below him again, only not aligned to his body. Shadow is also looking down in the picture, possibly at the enemy.
EDIT: Why is it that no one has mentions the fact that Shadow appears to have Chaos Powers in this game. That first Pic looks like Chaos Blast from Shadow.
i was thinking along those lines as well. possibly it's just a boss with a shadow part like king boom boo and also a puzzle in billy hatcher.

I've tried that. I've even 'opened link in a new window.' It's just the same gallery page over and over again. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, or have my settings configured abnormally.
Oh well, thanks anyway.
-Jake
if you have javascript enabled, disable it
Is it just me, or does Crystalhog look like Atlas of greek legend, carrying the world (or in this case, a huge ball of energy) on his shoulders?
Nah, he just wants to blast away Shadow for good because he too (like most fans after playing Shadow the Hedgehog) is a Shadow hater.
...
He's probably super strong.

You got a point there. I wonder if like King Boom Boo he just a random boss or maybe part of the story?
Any guesses of what might the little black demons/aliens do during the battle? The only thing I can think of is that maybe they are there to either distract Shadow while the Crystalhog charges his Frieza like Dead Ball or to be use against the boss.

You can see them all here.

Well, they're obviously related to Crystalhog (they're dark/indigo-colored and crystaline) and there seems to be a freaking lot of them. Their body shape looks like Chaos and a Black Arm mixed together. Weird thing is, they aren't attacking Shadow in any of those pictures, they were just standing meanacingly at the border of the arena. Where is Shadow, anyway? Some cave?
