Perhaps he's in Hell and Uncyclopedia was right, Gerald Robotnik is Satan making Shadow the Anti-christ. And Shadow has just discovered that ('Oh crap! MORE pointless and annoying crap in my backstory! Oh well, back to whining about my past.').

Weird thing is, they aren't attacking Shadow in any of those pictures, they were just standing meanacingly at the border of the arena.

It seems like they're attempting to attack him in this photo. Or, they're just creeping in behind him.

Somehow I doubt the lava monster will be the final boss becuase Silver fights him. My bets are on the evil crystal hedgehog. (o.o @ the little Chaos-esque monsters it has)

Of course it would be fitting to fight the "Iblis" in what looks like hell. :p

Oh, Okay. He seems the be preoccupied by either Crystalhog's shadow or looking at the fourth wall to notice, tho.

I've not followed all of this topic, and I don't plan on going back and reading all 43 pages, but I hope this new game isn't going to be like the recent ones; remaking the originals in modern graphics would own, but I hope they don't remake it as a friggin' racing game or something. I can't stand those games.

Nothing will beat the original 16-Bit Sonic, anywho, no matter how good the graphics are in the Next Gen.

I care more about the story and gameplay then the graphics. Hopefully this game will be as good or better then the Sonic Adventure series.

True, gameplay is much more important than graphics. But personally, I think the story in a game (with some exceptions) is negligible. But I'm old skool.

I was never keen on Sonic Adventure... I think if the continuity had stuck a little more to the original Sonic games, I'd have prefered it (such as using original Zones as settings and such). Mind you, additions like Chaos and Shadow were quite cool. Never liked Rouge, though...

Well even though nobody asked, or probably even cares, I had updated the expectations list. An expectation has been added, one has been removed. Some of them have been modified.

1) Expect long stages
Well we now have three playable characters. And with only three characters, the stages will have to be fairly long. So either expect the game to have a lot of stages or fairly long stages. Because if they're not long enough, the game's going to be short and then we're gonna have a bunch of people complaining that it's too short.

2) Expect a story like from Sonic Heroes (ignore)
Well now we know the story is going to be first rate so screw this rule :insane

3) George Bush still doesn't care about black peo...erm. I mean, expect some camera problems
Now camera problems have always been a problem in the 3D Sonic games. But Sonic just runs too fast.(Heck sometimes, the camera lost pace in the Genesis games.) And since Sonic might have to fight in a small battlefield.... Although, Sonic Team said they're aware of the camera problem and they'll try to fix it. But don't expect the camera to be perfect.

4) DON'T try to compare this game to S3&K
Every gaming series have a game that is considered the best. For Kirby it was Kirby Superstar. Final Fantasy; Final Fantasy 7. Donkey Kong; Donkey Kong Country 2. Legend of Zelda; Ocirina of Time. The last thing we need is this game to be bashed because some fool compared it to S3&K

5) Don't count on IGN, Gamespot, or rabid Sonic fanboys for reviews
It feels as though I might not need to say this but some people listens to 'professionals'. (God knows why) Who knows what they will say as they have a habit of breaking my rule #4. And also ignore any rabid Sonic fanboy's review (that is if you can even find one). As Bunni said, you might be tricked into buying the game and not like it therefore wasting $60. In other words, think for yourself and decide for yourself whether you want to get this game.

6) Don't swallow too much hype
There's nothing wrong with some hype. Everybody wants to watch a trailer that makes their mouth drool. The drools drips on their pants and it looks like they wet themselves. But, IMO, the biggest thing that mercilessly killed Sonic Heroes, was its overwhelming hype. Let's hope Sonic 06 won't suffer the same fate.

7) Expect some stopping places in the stages
Not even the Genesis games were ALL about speed. Because if it was, we would have ONLY pressed the right button and nothing else to get from left to right. 2D Sonic games had some stopping places and major obsticles, so odds are this game will to.

8 Expect a FEW multiple paths (new)
Not to the degree of Genesis sereis though. More like multiple paths from Shadow the Hedgehog. Some of stages in that game branched off into different directions. Death Ruins, Final Huant, and Cryptic Castle were some prime examples. Whether or not certain paths must be taken because of missions like in Shadow remains to be unseen.

9) And this probably my most important one. PRAY THAT SEGA DON'T LISTEN TO THE FANS!!!!
It may seem cruel, but it's probably for the best. Sonic Team to Sonic is like God to us. Only they know what's best. Us fans, who I'm pretty sure, had never develop a Sonic game. At first the fans (the ones that was with Sonic since day one) wanted a game that was closest to retro Sonic. Thank you Sega for giving us Sonic Heroes. Almost everybody hates it. Then, the Shadow fans (most of them I'm pretty sure that's only from 8 to 13) said they wanted more Shadow. Thank you Sega for giving us that. Almost everybody hates that too. Face it, we're only fans and not game programmers, we have no idea what we want, except a good game. So now I don't care if you're Christian, Jewish, Islamic, or even athesits, pray that Sonic Team don't listen to us.

Now you may think I'm an ass again, but I still don't want another fiasco period. Sonic Heroes and Shadow the Hedgehog suffered through it, I just don't want it to happen a third time. And if caring about the respect of a game makes me a jackass, then so be it.

I agree entirely with your nineth point, SonicV2. Being a Sonic fan since his Genesis debut, I'm not sure I know what I want with the next gen of Sonic games after seeing Sonic Team's responce to the "fan base" with Heroes and Shadow. Honestly, as long as the camera angles don't kill me I will be happy. Then again it'd be nice if Shadow wasn't parading around in a jeep as well, but more important to me are decent camera angles.

I'm happy to see your list resurface, V2. Whilst we had a bit of debate last time, I definitely think its content is relevant, and agree with it myself, holding few qualms.

Just so you know:
"..missions like in Shadow remains to be unseen."

I'm diggin' the swamp stage now we can see a bit more of it, but it'd be nice to look at that spiral Sonic's running around and imagine him moving around it smoothly. The loops and twists in the 3D games always feel like they move so jerkily to me.

I agree with everything but 8 -- we haven't seen the entire maps so we can't really say.

I hope for more verticle options. I notice plenty of paths horizontally. I liked being on top of things.

There is only one fan SEGA should listen too, me, and that's because I'm a programmer too (albeit an ameteur one) and a story writer. So my views are reasonable :lol : Yeah right.

I'm an ace writer, UK. Heck, my greatest one had twenty-five THOUSAND words in it. But I'm no programmer.

From what I learned about the next gen game is....a lot of things. It's going to be like S&K3, sorry to say. It's no remake. It will have an "adventure mode" like in the first one, but with the new graphics, I say "Who gives a dan?" I loved the adventure mode (I'm smoked). It also mentioned that when you have all 7 of the Chaos Emeralds, if you ever have 50 or 100 rings, you can FREELY BECOME SUPER SONIC!!! Not just at the true final boss!

So yeah; my views are no different then UK's. :)

This game will probably be good and I'll probably eat my own words, but I think that Sonic Team need to stop creating new characters every game and do somethin more like Sonic Wild Fire, and concentrate on the gameplay and just Sonic. I was probably violating some rule by mentioning Wild Fire but I felt it was necessary.

In the interviews with the guys who are currently making the Next Gen. Who else? Simon Pegg? The demonstration at E3, mainly, when SEGA told everyone what to expect when it comes out in stores.

"What if Sonic were real?" said one of the SEGA guys, "His quills move up and down as the hedgehog breaths." Let's hope there are a bevy of playable characters, otherwise Tails will have to spend forever listening to Luigi on how many times HE went on an adventure as a playable character. Always watering his plant (Cosmo) whilst listening to how Luigi killed the Shroobs. There goes Super Sonic. Not Super Tails. T-T

The game is quite impressively fast -- much faster than most of the other 3D games, anyhow.

Man, if it's possible to freely be Super Sonic in a level, can he even be friggen controlled?

I remember the first time I played Sonic 2 and FINALLY got Super Sonic -- I died initially because I couldn't handle the speed.

Please. I got HYPER SONIC in S&K3, and it wasn't a problem for me. Speaking of Super Sonic, I'm thinking "What abilities will the until-recently blue hedgehog have in this Super form?" Sonic Wind, maybe? Goku would be proud. Bill "The Fox" Foster will be rolling in his grave.

Hyper Sonic was in S3&K, not Sonic 2. Sonic 2's levels may not have been structured to withstand Super Sonic's speed as well as Sonic 3's levels were. Wing Fortress is a prime example of this. You actually have to avoid using Super Sonic until the level is half over or you will die.

Also, Super and Hyper move at just about equal speeds. Hyper is just flashier and has an extra move.

As for Super Sonic's abilities, it would be cool if you jumped right and you could fly ala SA2's ending, and you could go back to running if you wanted to.

It'd be great if you could turn into Super Sonic, but I doubt you could.... SEGA only seems to listen to the BAD advice from the fans :p ('MORE SPEED!' 'SHUT UP! It's fast enough!'). Never the good ('Super Sonic anywhere!' 'No bottomless pits!')

I believe now's the time to ask the single most important question, the ultimate game-changing question,

Will there be swearing (oh sure hope not, just look at 'Damn' in Shadow, if they take it up to the next level, dear God!)?

I think the new dude could be called 'Umbra', as he may be "the darkest part of a Shadow" :p

"Will there be swearing (oh sure hope not, just look at 'Damn' in Shadow, if they take it up to the next level, dear God!)?"

I doubt there will be cussing in this one, as it looks to be aimed at the same crew as SA1 & 2, Heroes, etc. Shadow's game was aimed at a slightly older audience. Shadow doesn't seem to have his guns in this one either, so that agrees.

Are you personally offended by the cussing in Shadow? I'm not, as I'm a swearholic myself (and find 'hell' and 'damn' very mild and inoffensive, and actually fitting with the character of Shadow. I'd also say I find it realistic if it weren't for the emphasis put on it. That.. ~DAMN~ ..fourth emerald *Shadow looks into camera*), but ironically, I verge on being offended by your casual use of the phrase "Dear God!" :p

Anyway, even in Shadow the Hedgehog 5 I doubt they'd ever have Shadow flinging "F"s, "B"s or "S"...es.

V2: I said we had a bit (as in, a little bit) of debate - that is, nothing 'real' - I just recall a few people saying they might have disagreed with some of the points or that you should tweak certain statements a bit.. but I don't know, it's been a while and I'm a weary old man. Anyway, good work.

Umbreon and Umbra would have gotten their names from the same word. In astronomy, "umbra" means the shadowy part of an eclipse.

I dont know Blaze was pretty usefull in Rush unlike the others who barely did anything in the others games.

As for a name for the 4th hedgehog how about Nazo 2, since he is mysterious and all or maybe Shard since he has crystals around his body.

"Mxyzptlk?" Why is it that the first time Sega tries to come up with a creative name for a character it looks like someone just banged the keyboard and took what they got? Unless it's the name of some ancient demon from a religion no longer worshipped, a lot of us fans are going to have a hard time with that...

Really? Now I seriously doubt that the hedgehog's real name.

He doesn't look crystaline to me. More like his fur and spines are just messy and shaggy compared to the others.

Remember that one hedgehog that appeared at the end of the Sonic X trailer? Silver, the new hedgehog, bears a resemblance to "Nazo". So maybe Silver is that particular guy. This is only a rumor I've heard about.

The new guy's quills look triangular if you ask me. See his front side and back side. TRIANGULAR! The quills mark a corner. Maybe this symbolizes that there are three [male] hedgehogs now. Or maybe that's the style in the future...
