Yeah, I hear ya. That really through me off, about the whole Aeris (or Aerith in Japan) thing. First it's FF7. Then KH comes around. To me, KH is not canon by any means to Final Fantasy. Then came Advent Children.....
So let's think about the topic, shall we? Sega has already set the stage for a POSSIBLE Cosmo appearance. They can do what they want with that. I can state one if you'd like, but it'd have to be seperate.
I already said she's not guaranteed revival (Sonic isn't made of Phoenix downs! 
), but it's saying "possible". If she doesn't (I hope she DOES come back though), then it would be most likely be like FF7 Advent Children. Ya know, speaking in visions and stuff. Just like Aerith in Advent Children.
Either way, we won't know until next year. Or maybe in the next ten seconds if you have a man inside of Sega America. But I doubt that. So let's put the whole "Cosmo thing" aside for now until we have more evidence.

One way they could possibly make a Cosmo revival (or at least bring along a "replacement") is whether or not that seed that Sonic found and gave to Tails is really a seed with a "plant-child". Then it can be taken many ways. My favorite theory is that it's a Cosmo-lookalike. But there shouldn't be any "fake memories", unless Cosmo in her Super Tree form...thingy... is able to plant memories and thoughts into her offspring. Then the "New Cosmo" could be her mother's living will...
See? This is what happens when someone thinks too long about a theory. Learn from this!

And said clone has all of your memories, your personality,
everything that makes you you, is it really a clone any longer, or is it yourself?

Besides, my fav theory is that Cosmo (herself, not a fake in any way) is regrown while Tails and the rest of them are away, then wanders off to look for him. Tails comes back and is like "WTF!? Cosmo's plant is gone!" and thus a Lord of the Rings kinda journey begins to find her....and when they do, Eggman is using her in one of his "brilliant schemes", but it's foiled by the help of some unknown guy (or not, but the plot is ruined anyway).

Sonic X: The Complete Fifth Season
Huh. Didn't quite expect that, but still a good deal for fans of the dub.
Wow. Wasn't expecting that at all. But it'll save me a ton of space on the shelf, I reckon, so all is well. May look awkward next to all my singles, though.
I'm going to go on a leaf and say that a lot of us would love it if Metal Sonic came along with the new Sonic X season. Come on, don't hide it. Anyway, as far as rumors go, if Metal Sonic DOES appear in Sonic X, most think he will be voiced by Jason Anthony Griffith, the same guy who voices Sonic and Shadow, to keep up with the tradition of Sonic/Metal Sonic voice acting.
I'm confused. By the way everyone's talking, it sounds like a new season of Sonic X is coming. Is that true?
It has been confirmed that a new season may be in production, but that's all that is known. I'll keep looking into it.
Bullplop. Nothing's been confirmed outside of that 4Kids "Season finale" crap that I wouldn't go and put too much stock in anyway.
What's far more likely is that Japan will finally get to see the Metarex saga in some shape or form. For them it is a new season.
For the few of you who care, in February we'll see "season 6" of Sonic X on DVD, effectively completing the series.
Season 6? How in the world did they get that?
