I was playing on the free demo the other night when someone said that within the next year, Sega would be taking down the free demo and making the actual Xbox Live mode in the real game for free, thusly no longer requiring someone to purchase a GUARDIANS license and only having to pay for Xbox Live.
Has anybody else heard about this, and if so, is it true?
I sincerly have my doubts. That would mean Sega would be doing somthing, oh, I don't know, nice for their fans? Plus, why would they only do that for 360 users, when there is also the PC and PS2 userbase to take care of? I'd say who ever you were talking to was full of wishful thinking.
Don't get me wrong though. I would squeal with giddy glee if this were true, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
Well, the reason why I'm not so doubtful is that, for example, PC users don't have to pay 2 different fees to play, just the GUARDIANS licence. (That is, of course, excluding whatever they pay for the internet, which I don't equate to Xbox Live.) However, I'm not too familiar with the PS2 requirements.
The problem is that Sega gets money from the GUARDIANS licence that goes directly to them and money to subscribe for Xbox Live goes directly to Microsoft, so then the problem would be that they don't get money from Xbox Live users but get it from the PC and PS2 users. Why would Microsoft give Sega money that they earn from Xbox Live and give Sega a portion for their PSU users?
Sega will make it free for everyone or keep it the way it is.
I remember playing the Phantasy Star Online game, and that game was awesome! So I wonder how Phantasy Star Universe is.
Comparing it to Phantasy Star Online, it's not that great. Its a decent game with a decent storyline with repetitive hack and slash gameplay. I got 30 hours of gameplay for $30 which I think was really good considering I usually pay $30-$60 for a game that gives me 15 hours of gameplay. I'm sure you would find it alot cheaper then that too.
Thanks for the input Abac Child, that 30 hours of Gameplay stuff, sounds way too frustrating.
