And what about using Miis?
Takeshi Iizuka: The sequel is being designed around real human struggles. The story is about self-discovery and the belief in oneself. So, we're designing the game around human characters that interact with NiGHTS in the dreamworld of Nightopia.
Hmm...well I have seen Mii heads put on realistic human body structures in great effect before in past games.

Christmas NiGHTS cleverly employed the Saturn's internal clock to alter the game world, particularly the weather conditions. Any chance of the Wii Weather Channel being used for some similar effects?
Takeshi Iizuka: What's exciting about the Wii is that it has a lot of great functions that we would like to take advantage of...we have some really special surprises for all!
*tornado appears a few miles away but heading harmlessly in another direction*
*boot up NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams*
*tornado appears ingame with the message: "Good gravy man! Why are you playing a Wii during a tornado? Turn it off right away and head for cover!"*
Hahahah! Ahh the possibilities. =)
Meh, I forgot whean this was comeing out. Is there a dated It whould come out? Im so happy I did'et buy another console.
Im asking for a Wii On my birtday. Nights sounded like a cool game. Yet, I discovered It 5 years or so later after It was out.
Some time around christmas or something.
There's really not much that needs saying about them.
Yeah, I saw those pictures the other day, but alot looks like the pics we already have seen so I didn't bother posting them.
:'( Ok if you don't like me you can just say so! *bawls*
Oh, I saw those pics on another site.
But it was nice to see them agian.
So no Twin Seeds?
Whoa! That looks sweet.
It could be Twin Seeds! Just ye olde Twin Seeds. Of course, I haven't loaded the scans yet, so hold that thought.

So anyone seen the new city the game takes place in the new issue of Nintendo Power?
Well, technically the game takes place in Nightopia. Like, the whole thing. At least, the first one sure did. Now, granted, there WAS one level that was a replica of Twin Seeds, but I'm pretty sure that was still the dream world.
I was looking at this interview (which has some mildly interesting info on controls - I'm actually kinda glad that it appears you'll control things similarly to the original. Perhaps it's: nunchuk's stick = move NiGHTS, remote = aerial tricks?) and I came across this old scenario:
Quote:
IGN: Will there be cooperative and online modes? Please explain how they work.
Takashi: Currently, we are investigating a number of features that will utilize the Wii network capability. But, at this time we have not decided on any specific functionality yet. Ultimately, we would like to have multiplayer functionality as well as a way to tap into the Nintendo network where players could share their game experience on a world-wide level.
In other words, there will likely be no real multiplayer or internet connectivity, or if there is, it will be very minimal. So at most, expect a 2P VS identical to the NiGHTS vs Reala thing in the original, plus a score ranking system. We might be pleasantly surprised, but they always discuss this in interviews, and we always end up getting sweet all.
Yea I read that too and I mean any form of online is good to me. That's an advance for Nintendo, wouldn't you say? I didn't even get what that meant when I read it the first time. "Share their game experience on a wolrd-wide level." Huh? Message boards? lol

There are seven dream worlds to fly through in Journey of Dreams, divided among the colorful and idyllic realm of Nightopia and the dark and sinister realm of Nightmare.
So the game has the same amount of stages as the first one. I wanted more stages.
Hmm...well I mean they wanted to stick as close as possible to the first game, right? Anyway, I guess when creating the game they wanted to fill the levels with so many things that the replayability would be insane. Not to mention, we all know how some games give you the same things in different wrapping paper throughout the game. So they came up with these levels straight off. Why bother trying to come up with other stuff that is forced or doesn't fit the rest of the game. I'm glad they don't feel the need to make the game a certain length. The game shold make itself, and I think thats what they are doing. Sega knows how important this game is for them. lol
NiGHTS:Story of the Night of the Falling Stars.
I wonder why the japanese version has different title? What do falling stars have to do with the story?
Simple: every movie star you know of right now has a fall from grace... at the same time. Overnight, even. It's up to you to prevent the falling stars from falling, and restore SOME dignity to them, or else there'll be no more Hollywood! :O

Maybe it'll have the "lol-infinate-runthrus-equal-replay-value" factor of SatSR. Only fun.
Hahah yea SH, exactly. There may be an intended pun there from Sega. Considering, "Nights" is considered a star amongst video gamers, and this title is Sega's attempt to bring it to the new generation. If things go like they plan, "Nights" won't fall. =P
That is by far the sexiest magazine scan I have laid eyes upon.
VERY WANT! @ this game.
Are we sure this is on the Wii? lol
It actually looks..... I can't find the word for it
Helen Cartwright. Nice name.
From the looks of one of pics it seem NiGHTS is trapped once again in a shrine. Also I wonder if Helen violin will be play a part in the story. Just looking at pic makes me think it can use with the Wii nunchuke to either solve a puzzle or defeat a boss or maybe a mini game.
The giant "Wii" might throw out a few hints.
Acrio...you're so silly. =) But yes this game has immediately moved up my list...to a possible buy before Xmas and wait for Brawl until Xmas. I gotta say those screenshots, if they are actual gameplay...wow. I really WANT to play the original now.
So far it seems that the new kids are blond version of Elliot and Claris. Both Elliot and William dream involve sports while Claris and Helen dreams involve music.
Edit- SamIAm from the Sonic Cult translated Helen info

Here is my quick, dirty, and literal translation of the whole page. Yes, they are that vague about some of the details.
------------
[top left, gold text]
The great adventure of dreams and bravery are resurrected on the Wii![top left paragraph with two arrows and pictures]
One night, in a mysterious world she ran to after being attacked by nightmares, Helen met NiGHTS. How is this young girl, who is coming into her womanhood (lit. puberty), going to change here in the world of dreams?[purple text beneath pictures]
Has her guilty conscience given birth to her nightmares?[vertical text in top right w/arrow]
While the violin concert of her dreams is right around the corner, Helen wants to distance herself from both her mother and performance.[vertical purple text beneath last text]
How will Helen change from the adventure in Nightopia?
A great adventure with NiGHTS and a young girl coming into womanhood![Place with Helen's name in English and info boxes, lower right]
Helen Cartwright:
Age: 12
Special ability: Violin
Helen lives in a quiet residential area of Bellbridge. Starting from a young age, she got her mother, whom she is very fond of, to teach her violin performance. However, now that she is hitting puberty, she is wanting to distance herself from her mother and performance. Because of the guilt she feels from this, she has started to have nightmares.[box where you can see "wii" in English w/gold lettering, and the paragraph beneath it]
Exhilarating action with the Wii remote!
The attractiveness of Nights is the number of action-acrobatics which NiGHTS, and the characters fused with him/her/it, show you. This attractiveness is doing well in our game! By just memorizing simple controls on the Wii remote, you can enjoy the exhilarating action where you fly around just as you remembered it.[beneath last text, with an arrow pointing to a picture]
Nights, holding onto the tail a Nightopian in the shape of a bird. Use the "touch-dash", one of your mid-air moves, to take it out.[the lower-left-most text on the page, points to picture]
A light [trails] behind Nights like it is following him. When you make a circle with this light, you make a paraloop, and you can destroy enemies that are gathered inside of it.[purple text and small paragraph beneath Helen's infobox]
How will you control it?
The combination of free-form mid-air action and the Wiimote's controls seem to go together well.[lone purple text to the left of the above]
Let's enjoy exhilarating action with intuitive controls![lower-right-most text with a pointer to a picture]
In the last game, you could enjoy doing acrobatics by [pressing certain buttons] while in mid-air. In the new game, we should be able to have a great variety of actions with the special features of the Wii's remote![purple text beneath that]
Let's run around the sky freely![Bottom text]
Development progress: 50%In place of Claris and Elliot, whose bravery was the theme of the last game, it is written that this time, the story will be about Will and Helen, with the theme of accepting family. Please have high hopes for their [adventure].
------------------Yep.
50%? Oh boy .
50% Schick. If it's going to be out within the next 4 months, that means it'll be a rushed game. Oh gosh no. I'm actually hoping for a delay now. *prays*
Aw. So Claris and Elliot won't be in the game? But I wanted to see the new rendered versions of them ;; Eventough they had unrealistic hair colors.
Now now I wouldn't count them out just yet...you know Sega is famous for cameos. =)
Well these new character's designs are adorable. Although I kinda wish their dreams/aspirations weren't so simular to Claris and Elliot, eh. What can I say. I guess I wanted a kid who wanted to be a lion tamer. Or a flying trapeze artist. Now thats risky.
The story actually sounds really sweet and adorable. I'm a sucker for coming of age tales of family love and acceptance.
Man, you just beat me to it, Psx. I found a gonintendo link to it on the Nsider Forums and was just on my way to reveal it. Oh well.
That felt like watching a trailer to a horrible animated Disney film.
@ the trailer. The flying Wiimote was just the cherry on top.

Fixed. Dammit, Sega. This is supposed to be NiGHTs, not A Troll in Central Park. D:<
Yeah, I guess that works too.
Gameplay Movie for the interested
No dopey voice-actors here, although there's no music, either. Plus, the progression of sounds for going through rings sounds... off, but I'll get used to it. Other than that and some awkward camera angles, this looks like it'll be pretty faithful.
Heh yea the voice of the announcer dude was a bit...not so great. Although for a teaser/trailer I feel it was rather nice. I think it's going to be a trip for lots of people who'll actually remember this from 10 years ago and had no idea that this was coming out.
What the heck!? o_0
The gameplay seems kinda slow and and empty compared to the original. Hmmm...
Well it didn't have music. I'm sure that "wonderfurl" music is a big piece of the psche this game has over your brain. I'm sure if there had been music in the video it wouldn't have felt slow and empty.
Fanarts! (not mine)
www.sonicitalia.net/image...20copy.gif Reala vs. Shadow
www.sonicitalia.net/image...20copy.jpg Sonic and NiGHTS
Whoever did that seriously screwed up Shadow's shoes. But oh well. =/
Anyway, the gameplay doesn't look all that different to me. I did notice that it looks slightly slower paced. As long as it feels the same when I play it, I'm fine.
the Sonic and NiGHTS picture is superior. But nobody can deny how simular Reala's and Shadow's color schemes are. All Shadow needs is like...a baby blue vest and he'd be set.
Its almost like Reala wanted to "fursona" himself and came up with Shadow. heh.
Perhaps it just seems slower because you can always see forward in this one, while the original was mostly side on like 2D games.
Still, looks like a winner to me. They didn't change much, but knowing Sonic Team that's probably a good thing otherwise we'd get NiGHTS Heroes. We still have yet to see how the masks work though... >>
DO WANT.
NiGHTS flying looks smooth yet jerky at the same time. I can't explain it but when he is looping he looks stiff in the back.
Trailer makes me Squee.
I like the announcer guy!
