Okay. I've been trying to raise a Dark Running Chao on SA2:B. Its Run level was somewhere between 30 and 40 when it evolved, and its Swim level hadn't even past level 10 yet.

So how come, despite Run being vastly greater than Swim, why did my Chao evolve into a Dark Swimming Chao? Is the evolution random or something?

Did you give it the swim last?

Also, animals are often less effective for evolution than chaos drives.

Or maybe your chao has a really really really crappy rating for Run.

It had an A rank for Run.

I don't think I gave it a Swim animal last.

Ah, Skeleton Dogs. Wonderful things for removing unwanted animal parts. You can find them in Pumpkin Hill with Knuckles. Just run straight ahead at the beginning to where you find the Shovel Claws, walk across the rail at the left, and take the rocket to Church Mountain. Just watch out for ghosts.

Also, as far as that Swim thing goes, I'm not too sure what to say about that, but how many points is your chao's swim skill at?

Kaze didn't tell you the whole thing... you glide across and dig into the ring where you find the dogs. That'll get you an extra life so you can restart and stuffff.

I'm pretty certain that it's Swim stat was somewhere between 100 and 150 while the Run stat was at about 500+.

You didn't tell him the whole of it either. If you get all three Chao boxes on Punpkin Hill, you get, yet another skeleton dog and a sea monster!

But see that takes time. And I knew all of that, the extra life and where the dog was, etc., but I had forgotten it. I just needed Kayla to jog my memory, I remembered the rest. =)

If that's the case, then it really should have evolved into a Run chao. From what I've seen with my own chao, usually whatever stat is the highest and whatever you give the chao affects what it turns into. I could be wrong on that point though, since I avoided turning one of my dark chao into a chaos one by giving it an animal and it turned into a power chao. Although, it may sometimes depend on when you gave the chao the drives/animals. I remember giving a chao Run stuff first and swim stuff after it, then Run stuff again and it became a swim chao... That may be the case, but like I said, I could be wrong... I think I'll have to experiment with a baby chao first. :[
