Yet more ports and I'm freely acknowledging that it's just speculation, but what does everyone think if this turns out to be real?
There's nothing wrong with letting people keep playing good old titles, but I'd personally rather see proof that Sonic Team can still make a decent Sonic game. That seems to've been sadly lacking for some years.
Hmmm...interesting. I don't know how successful that would be though. At that price point...ow! Then again...if it has as many games with it, as it should...it's a total steal. Bonus material is a big mus if this exist. Knuckles Chaotix too. Then...i'm sold.
Do not want if SegaSonic The Hedgehog and Chaotix not included.
VERY WANT if SegaSonic The Hedgehog and Chaotix included.
Why make yet another Sonic collection and price it at $99 to boot?
Also the best thing that came from the document leak were the possible plans of porting DC titles to PSN and bringing Japanese imports to PSN.

This. Also, if there are to put PS2 games on PSN, then hopefully that means the rumors of an update, to allow PS2 BC software emulation so you can play PS2 discs, are true!
Edit: According to this:
PS2 emulator for PS3 (confidential)
SCEA wants to sell all PS2 titles on PSN (GTA Vice City/Sonic/etc)
For co Marketing money show PS3 controller on TV ads - similar to EA Madden Spots, NCAA, etc…
it is full PS2 BC, yay! If this is true, then it will make it all the more sweeter when I get a PS3, and I can have my parents get some One Piece DVDs for Christmas instead of a PS2 Slim that I was wanting!
You're all assuming Mega Man Anniversary style.
What about Tomb Raider Anniversary style? Not to say they'd 3dorize the first game, but maybe HDify the first 4. Sounds more of a 20 year anniversary offering (not for another 2 years) than anything else.
When is Sonic 1 ever gonna rest in peace?
When is Sonic 1 ever gonna rest in peace?
When the Pikachu In A Sombrero version is released as DLC.

Yeah, but... 90 bucks? For that kind of cash it better be Sonic Legacy HD + 3D Sonic ports if they want people to bite.
Educated Guess: Every Sonic Game released before Sonic Adventure (which means we'll finally get Chaotix + SegaSonic) plus Sonic Adventure 1 and 2. Sonic Mega Collection had the majority of those games at $20 New. Sonic Gems Collection had the missing ones minus Chaotix and SegaSonic for $30. For the additional $40+ dollars we'll get SA1 and SA2 which have previously not been available on a Sony Console for $20 bucks each. Since they were also talking about Dreamcast Games landing on Sony's console in that leaked information ... hmm ...
That's the document that the article I posted links to... Check the link in the last sentence that talks about being able to view the whole document.
Whoops. Sorry about that.
Interesting thing is that Sega's been sending informal C&Ds to various sites that posted it. I believe TSSZ and the Sonic Stadium both got one.
It happens.
Sega can send as many C&Ds as they like, informal or otherwise. If they wipe it off one site, it'll be uploaded from someone's hard drive and onto another one, to say nothing of communication between the people who've seen it. Gagging people's harder than it used to be since the 'net got popular..

Not to mention that C&Ds in general only encourage people to spread the news, just out of spite.
Sonic Anniversary
Could put out collectors edition with all old sonic games on one BD disc.
"Best of Sonic" for around $99.
SCEA would love PSN exclusive power ups/different game modes (think a mirror mode of levels)
I wouldn't get yur hopes for anything definitive. It does clearly state that they "could" make it, as in they might if they can be arsed. Even if it does go ahead, they won't include anything post Saturn (ixnay on the reamcast day). I wouldn't call the Adventure titles "old" per say. I mean, they're not exactly recent, but their not exactly retro either
Also I think that the mirror mode sounds like a pretty lame extra. Yay! I get to play a flipped level Sonc game! So worth 99 bucks!
Sonic Adventure is over a decade old. If we can't count that as retro, what is?
ETA: Also, if we look at what games they might be able to put in here, it kinda justifies the price.
10 x Genesis-era (1, 2, 3, &Knuckles, Spinball, 3D Blast, Mean Bean Machine, CD, Chaotix, SegaSonic)
12 x Game Gear (1, 2, Chaos, Triple Trouble, Blast, Spinball, Mean Bean, Drift 1, Drift 2, Labyrinth, Tails Skypatrol, Tails Adventure)
3 x Saturn-era (3D Blast, R, Fighters)
6 x GBA-era (Pocket Adventure, Advance 1-3, Battle, Pinball Party)
6 x Dreamcast/Gamecube-era (Adventure 2, Adventure 2, Shuffle, Heroes, Shadow, Riders)
As far as I can tell that's everything released prior to the current gen - so while they might not put all of these in, that's a near-on 40 games from dead consoles that they have at their disposal.
I dont know what to think other than: lol Sega has screwed up Sony a little bit.
Bitter? Moi?
6 x GBA-era (Pocket Adventure, Advance 1-3, Battle, Pinball Party)
Doubt we'll see the GBA games in a collection that's not exclusive to a Nintendo platform.
Sonic N says hi! and then coughs and dies.

Actually, if we're talking seriously, I once read that technically retro has to be at around 20 years old, so technically Sonic still isn't retro. Not yet anyway.
However, I understand that retro takes on a different slant in gaming. Would you class the SNES and the Megadrive/Genesis as retro? Of course, they were three hardware generations ago. Would you count the Nintendo 64 and Sega Saturn as retro? See I think the the line blurs there. It was two gens ago, but looking at the N64, the games are still quite sophisticated, even today.
So are you insisting that a game (Sonic Adventure) from a console (the Dreamcast) that is only in the previous generation of consoles is retro? Sure it's ten years old, but it was still in the same hardware era as the Gamecube which I doubt anyone could call retro, and to me, that's what counts.
Ha! The debate on what retro is. The line is definitely blurred. Retro for the most part refers to games we once played on older systems that at the time were fun just for being fun. Retro and nostalgia almost go together in this sense. 10 years in gaming though...that's a pretty big gap considering technology doubles like ever 5 minutes is it[don't quote me on that...but it's ridiculously stupid...whatever the number is]? So I mean...retro is pretty much whatever my first system was[which in this case was the SNES, then the Genesis]. So seeing a SNES/Genesis cartridge only brings back memories of blowing in those things til lungs were exhausted. Thus, retro. =P
The BFFC has rated a Sonic Classic Collection. The Sonic Chronicle video might indicate that the game is coming to the DS and not PS3.
Hmmm...that is odd, there's like less on that collection than on SMC. Weird!
I think it's just meant to be the Genesis hits on a handheld platform, but it certainly does seem like a bare-bones release. Now the question is whether my desire for portable Sonic will outweigh my dislike of buying games I already own two or three times.
Well, if they manage to bring out a Sonic classic (Master System too plz?) collection on DS without it being... Sonic Team'd... then, I would gladly pay for it. Heaven knows I hate dragging my laptop around with me to play S3&K in public places.
Well, since there are pretty reasonable emulators that can run game gears/master system/genesis/mega drives on the ds already i would hope that sega learn from their sonic gba nonsense as noted by creg. However for the time being... *powers up win ce 5 gizmondo mega cd emulator for sonic cd*
