As we all know, the Sonic fandom has its oddities, its weird trivia, et cetera. But did you know that Michael Jackson was to make the entire S3&K soundtrack, but had to back down due to all the scandals?
Given that this is somebody on the inside saying this, this holds a bit more water than you'd think... Weird, either way.
OK...that's reeeeeeeeeeal weird.
I'm sorry, but I can't imagine playing Death Egg to the tune of Beat It. ">

Sonic 3 (also called Sonic & Knuckles) was a lot of fun, but it was also very difficult. Michael Jackson was originally brought in to compose all the music for the game, but at the very end, his work was dropped after his scandals became public. This caused a lot of problems and required a lot of reworking. But the game turned out great in the end.
o_O
I'M PISSING MYSELF WITH LAUGHTER OVER THIS XD XD XD
HILARIOUS!!!!
Actually, I can imagine playing Sonic 3 to Jackson tunes...
...
Weird...
Guess Tails was lucky.
All I have to say is:
THANK GOD THEY NEVER USED HIS MUSIC!!!!

Holy Shiz XD
Give me prototypes of these tunes!! They had to have prototypes! I would love to hear how the music to Sonic 3 would have sounded if done by MJ.
i'msorry but i just don't and can't believe it, by the way i just got my 35th sonic game today-sonic shuffle.
*Dies with laughter*

I can see it now...
Sonic powers up to Super/Hyper in Doomsday, and moonwalks through the level.
*giggles insanely*
Yeah, like Torn, I'm curious as to how the game would've sounded.

Would the developers make Sonic moonwalk if you leave him alone long enough?
~Neo
That would be awesome.

Seriously though it probably would have been an improvement in quality. It'd be a little different though not sure if he couldn't done 'sonicy' music.
Of course most people yelling about how they're glad they didn't probably aren't even old enough to remember when he was known for his music instead of sleeping with little kids. Well that or TOO old, either way not in that generation of music.

yes, it IS worth it. that video may be right. i wouldnt be suprised if it was right.
I'm certain I've heard of this before. o_O On CulT, I think it was...for some reason this just smells like old news to me, but then again maybe I'm imagining things.
EDIT: Oh wait, this has been uberbumped. That would explain it. ;3
People still have doubts about it? o.o
AAAAAAARGH NECROMANCY
The Carnival Night Zone sounded like Mike's 'Keep It In The Closet'. The menu music for the Competition Mode sounds like late Phil Collins-era Genesis.
It's quite the shock, I must say, Acrio.
** watches Shadow Hog's link **
and I'm quite convinced.
It's very interesting indeed. Remember if you really look through the titles, Dreams Come True, which were the originally the singers on some of the Sonic music disappeared. I'm not surprised since Jackson was still in a prime back then that he was asked to do music. The "Smooth Criminal" song is interesting and the music at the end of that video sounds very similar to some Sonic music. It would be interesting if this actually proved to be true.
