This was first announced weeks ago. We don't already have a thread on it?

Well, anyway... Samba. Hmm. Nope, didn't play the Dreamcast port.

Bah, it would work just as perfectly with the bare bones of remote and numchuck without adding a silly addon you have to buy. I'm sure Nintendo isn't that greedy.

Then again...

Yea I never played the DC game either. I heard it was quite innovative and exciting at the time. So we'll see.

Never played it. It's basically Guitar Hero with maracas, right?

YATTA!

One of my two Wii wishes down, only Para Para Paradise to go.

Samba's a whole load of fun. Personally, I'm overjoyed. Seems Sega are going on the saddle with the help of the Wii.

Now give us Jet Set Radio with Wiimote spraying and I'll be a Sega fanboy again.

Same here. If they bring back enough franchises, then it might just make up for the lackluster Sonic titles. Then again I haven't played Rush Adv yet.

But more plz. Panzer Dragoon anyone?

*Seconds SH* Love that series till the end of time, except the fact that Orta came out on Xbiscuit -.- ::Stares at X-box:: Sorry man, I just don't like you...

But I also second you HS2K3: Virtual On was fricking awesome. The Fembot was pretty badass, liked bombing suckers with her, so much fun.

Shame I only played that game on the DANGED SATURN DEMO DISC! Old-school ;_;

Hot off the Sega Press:

SEGA Gets Shakin' With Samba De Amigo
LONDON & SAN FRANCISCO (October 25th 2007) - SEGA Europe Ltd. and SEGA of America, Inc. are excited to announce that they are bringing back Samba De Amigo, the Dreamcast classic that helped to create the now-popular rhythm music genre. Created exclusively for the Wii home video game system, this vibrant and addictive new game lets players shake to the beats of a samba-infused soundtrack comprised of popular new songs as well as fan-favourites from the original game.

Playing as the grinning, sombrero-topped monkey, Amigo, players shake the Wii Remote and Nunchuk like maracas, in time with the visual beats of the music on-screen. The perfect party game, Samba De Amigo is packed with lively stages and a host of colourful characters. More details about this exciting new title including a full song listing as well as new special features will be revealed over the next few months.

Developed by acclaimed developer, Gearbox Software, Samba De Amigo will be exclusively available for the Wii in Spring 2008.

Wow. Samba's looking pretty swish in 3d.

Still eagerly awaiting and glad they're bringing some of the old music into the new game :D

That pic looks all to familiar from a certain Sonic game.

Isn't that a little too early for a release? Or has SEGA seriously kept this from spreading to the masses?

SEGA: Where development time is an afterthought.

Please remember, we're talking about the same company that once gave high ranking titles (I can't remember if it was Shadow or Riders) a full 9 months to get from start to finish.

No wonder there's never bug testing.

Samba is menu screens and a DDRy marraca screen. It doesn't sound like something that would need a lot of time. =x

I hope they have a "2 Wii remotes" option. Having it done on a Wiimote and nunchuck doesn't work as well. The Wiimotes will have the shake sound when you shake them, so why not hold two Wiimotes? Better than having that wire in the middle.

Looks like you get you're wish Shiggy. I don't see a single nunchuck in sight in the video.

Theme of Rocky? As in Balboa? If so... WIN. Don't really care about the Wii exclusive songs, though.

It's not quite the ParaParaParadise port I've been waiting for, but it'll do.

I never saw this game back in the Dreamcast era but it looks like a fun enough game [sucks abit that the maracas don't come with it and that there's no Sonic songs in the game though].

Groove Is In the Heart - Dee Lite

lol what? Didnt the lead singer sue SEGA awhile back for supposedly using her likeness in Space Channel 5?
The same law suit she lost and had to pay SEGA loads of money. But that doesnt mean they cant be friends awww...

I got this game today and I love it. I missed out on playing it on Dreamcast back in the day because it receieved a very limited release in my country (also I was poor at the time). Never saw it arcades, either. I pre-ordered it last week when I picked up Sonic Chronicles and Sega Superstars Tennis (which was half price) - it was $20 less than I expected and the pre-order got you the maraca attachments for free so that worked out pretty well. I know that the higher difficulties will kick my ass but I'm pretty good at it on hard mode right now. I've had the OST (of the first Dreamcast version) on my iPod for a couple of years though, which has helped a bit on the older songs, because I'm already used to the beat.

Unfortunately it's not as convenient as it could be to play right now though, as I only have one Wiimote and one nunchuck available due to the rest of my stuff being packed up and shipped out (I'm moving to Australia shortly). So the cable between the remote and nunchuck limits my movement at the moment. I won't bother with the maraca attachments until I can do away with the nunchuck and use my second remote.

Now to get the courage to play in front of other human beings XD

Brought it last night but haven't had the chance to shake my booty to the Samba beat just yet. The Wii-Racas I received with my copy though, are designed for 2 Wiimotes, not for Remote and Nunchuck like the ones pictured earlier. Minor, but critical, difference.

Also, CyberKnux, welcome to Auustraalia maate and *insert streoptypical Aus lingo here*.

Thanks, Geyser. It's been a long time in the making, I'm glad I'm finally on the move. I hope I can stand to Samba in the Australian heat, though!

My maracas are the same as yours, called Wii-racas and there is no company logo anywhere on the box (which I have not yet opened, the shrink wrap stuff is still on 'em. I'll open them when I'm in my new house with access to my second remote). They're not the proper Samba de Amigo ones pictured previously in the thread. They don't have the Samba logo on them, and like you said, they are for two remotes (suits me, I'm not gonna use the nunchuck once I can be rid of it). But I'm glad they're not like the first maracas pic that was posted in this thread - they'd fly off at the first opportunity XD

I love seeing my Mii grooving in the background
