Azel could be a ref, or a ball retriever.
I would love to see Edge as a playable character. But the Azel as a ref idea is equally awesome. Just have something that deals with Panzer Dragoon.

IGN has some new shots. A Robotnik/Eggman themed court, featuring Sonic 360's robots, and Metal Sonic in the background, and a new character thats sure to please some people, annoy some others, Shadow the Hedgehog joins the tournament.

After watching the intro and seeing Jet Set Radio's inclusion into the proceedings, I have decided that this is the only worthy successor to my long since neglected Virtua Tennis 2 on Dreamcast as best tennis game ever.
Not really.
But I'm certainly buying it sometime in the later parts of this year.

I looked all over for something of Alex Kidd, but I couldn't find anything, not even a screen shot.
Lovely how half the video is just footage of their first CG trailer. It's too short to form any real opinions on.
Who's that under Tails and next to Amy? It's probably some other Sega character I don't recognise, but I really want to say Gilius.

I was feeling kinda underhwlemed from all the screenshots, but after seeing those videos I'm looking forward to this game a bit more now... okay it was mainly the House of the Dead minigame that sold me: kill zombies with tennis balls - awesome! I want to go and play Jet Set Radio after seeing the Shibuya-cho stage again, although I haven't played Future yet maybe now is a fine time to track that one down.
I'm thinking the game could use some Phantasy Star treatment in there as well. And I thought I read there'd be somebody from Virtual Fighter as well.

Thats it! Every character has a power attack, ala Mario: Power Tennis that makes the opponent have difficulty getting to the ball. Both Shadow and Sonic turn into their Super forms when this happens, so it's more or less is a "special transformation".
That would explain the "grooving" moves that Ulala, Beat, and Amigo had in the screens I've seen so far.
