a Sonic fan by the name of Bendilin found this out. i'm just wondering how many of you knew this:
Quote:
A tropical insect eating animal called the Tenrec is known for its black and bleached red fur and odd patterns. The red fur streaks in five different directions from its head, and one on each leg. It also has a patch of white fur on its belly. It's most famous for its name, "The Fake Hedgehog".

wow.....that is incredibly suspicious...
First I've heard of it, and DAMN-- Uekawa does his research. Searching "Tenrec" brings up plenty of factual evidence of this animal's existence.
Whoa! Now that's cool! XD
Known as "fake hedgehog"! XDD
Aww, cute little creature. ^^
This is a bit too similar to be a coincidence really, plus it being called "The Fake Hedgehog" adds to Shadow's story.
Maybe that's the true ending to the new Shadow game, he isn't a hedgehog o.o

that's a good one.
it means shadow isn't a lab experiment and he will finally know his origin.
it'll be a happy ending for shadow.
hey that also means sonic is the only fast hedgehog in the world,i knew it. pretty cool.
That is pretty weird and yet it could make sense with the whole "fake hedgehog" thing. I wonder if Sonic Team knows about this.
Shadow the Tenrec
This is very amusing. And it's cyuuuutteee!!
Seriously, I thought it was slightly weird that Shadow and Yami Yugi look and sound almost the same...
But this makes a lot more sense. ^_^U
That's a cool find, and very cute, but I seriously doubt that he's the inspiration behind Shadow. I looked about, and the strips are more often yellowish, and furthermore, they aren't even present in the majority of temrecs. Also, it seems "the fake hedgehog" isn't even a common name fore them, and that many sources actually call them hedgehogs.
They're cute, and I want one, but I think Shadow was simply "goth" Super Sonic.
bendilin is a freind of mine, i'll have to quiz him about this. ^^ it's a good find as well, it's interesting how much like shadow that description sounded.
Well I'll be damned. That's really cool.
I read a lot about this stuff, and, last time I checked, tenrecs are close relatives of hedgehogs, and they are often called soft-spined hedgehogs as well.
Still, great idea! Kudos for originality!
Those images were beyond cute. So Tenrecs are the ultimate lifeform huh?
