Have you played Timesplitters?
That is PROOF that time travel in a plot does NOT mean a bad jumbled mess (a very funny and amusing jumbled mess that is only paradoxical at the very end)...
Seen the 5 seconds of footage on the video...
Hm....

If Sonic and crew ARE playable, they had DANG well better make it different to play as when you use them, or it's Sonic Heroes all over again.
**imagines Eggy running through loops and spindashing into hapless animal friends, recoils in sheer horror**
I wouldn't put it past them, either.
Besides, he could wear the costume from that Sonic Jam thing.

Try that in a 3D game, and it's something worth a look at. We'd call it "Eggman Adventure", and you'd have a simple control set: move, jump, histerical laugh.
Time travel might not be too bad in a game like this, especially when it's limited by the game. But if it actually had no limit, I can imagine Shadow accidentally warping himself to Prison Island in the SA2 story just before it blows. Horrible way to get a Game Over...
In other news, Gamespot has finally put up a new trailer for Shadow the Hedgehog, for all your viewing pleasures.
I've yet to view it myself, though I plan to later and post my impressions.
**Future Shadow warps in front of past Shadow**
Past Shadow: Hey, you're me!
Future Shadow: I knew you'd say that.
There's no new trailer at Gamespot as of this typing. What one could call new footage of Shadow the Hedgehog lasts all of 2 seconds and is located at the trailer-end of the edited-down conference video.
Um... some people can't connect to this, but I can. "They call me evil. Bring on the Hero. I am what I am. What I am..... (I am) I am me." Yeah, and that scene at the end where Shadow rushes to stop an evil double of him self from killing Sonic seems to imply the different storylines are indeed linked.
Edit: Wrong link.
your link doesn't work for me, rob. the error message thinks that the server for the video is down.
It plays for me. A friend of mine has suggested the server is "bogged". Maybe you should wait for IGN or Gametrailers to put it up.

Hang on a second. We now have an evil double of someone who was already an evil double to begin with? God, I hate this game.
So don't buy it.
that link works!
hm, the tiny bit at the end with the battered looking sonic looked interesting, the animation looks like a big improvement to SH's cut scenes.
i just hope that the difference between them and the in-game sprites isn't going to be too jarring. (shiny SH sonic, shiny!)
but what's all this about fighting an evil twin? i didn't spot that in any of the trailers. *flicks back a few pages of the topic* oo
I like the rock music that kicks in. It reminds me of Open Your Heart from SA1.
i believe that's the theme song to this game.
I liked the look of the cut-scenes, even though Sonic and Shadow looked like they were made out of clay. Oh, and that alien weapon still looks silly.
I think I hear a new VA there for Shadow as well, and the chaos control and chaos blast look okay. Levels look similar to Sonic Heroes...lots of linearness and bottomless pits. But hopefully they can make it work. It's definetly looking better though.
"They call me evil. Bring on the Hero. I am what I am. What I am..... (I am) I am me."
I don't want to be that 'THOSE LYRICS ARE WROOOONG' poster, but the way I'm hearing it is more "Black hearted evil, brave hearted hero, I am all, I am more, I am blahblah"
Like the song, dig the cutscenes. I was hardly excited for this game in the beginning but for me it just keeps looking better the more I see. I want.
perhaps that's why they look so 3D, they're actually made out of clay?
(glad to see that i'm not the only one who thinks that it looks that way.)

Agreed. In the beginning, I thought the idea for a game like this would turn out poorly, but I, too, see it to be getting better. Me want a copy!
I'm totally confused now. I didn't see an evil twin. <_<;
So don't buy it.
At this point, I don't think I'll even rent it.

They're not sprites, Goddammit!

Haven't played it. But as I said, it must be done with care in order to work. I'm doubtful that Sega will use such care, resulting in a jumbled mess.

Meh, that's kinda like what's going on in another forum I visit... some person's ripping the "sprites" from Sonic Rush when that's most assuredly a 3D model. Heck, it's not even like they're unaware that that's a model since I explicitly TOLD them it was, and they're STILL ripping them like sprites... T_T

There's what looks like another Shadow w/ gun directly behind Sonic, standing over him. It's not enough, I believe, to consider it "another" Shadow since that scene and the one immediately following may not be in chronological order. However, since we ARE dealing with time travel here I'd consider leaving ourselves open to the possibility.
Altered timelines can produce any number of unseen changes, Shadow hopping into a future where he's psycho and on the verge of eliminating Sonic for good is certainly plausible, now more than ever due to this game's underline theme.
Err...whoa. I know i'm probably the only one, but man this game seems like a dream to me. The Chaos Control Element looks insane and that Chaos Blast, no doubt. I was supposed to stop looking up this game once E3 started, but I just can't help it. And yes they do resemble clay, very much so...but it isn't too bad. The levels do look like Heroes kinda and thats good, because with one character that should leave a bunch of exploration. I'm not as hyped as I was about Heroes at E3 '03(which is good I think) because I know this game has a 50% chance of not living up to my expectations. Oh well.
It's true that the models look like clay but when you think about it, Sonic has always looked shiny and smooth and never really shown as furry except in comics and cartoons. even in the art made when the old games were released. Besides going to the trouble of making him furry in cutscenes and then reverting back to the super shiny in game graphics.
The trailer makes me want the game more, and it also makes me cringe at the BLATANT use of the Sonic Heroes engine, not even changing the springs which only really worked for the Power Formation team.
Rails = x.x
Theme Song = ...I'm torn between thinking of Shadow pulling a Slim Shady and singing "I am whatever you say I am!", or doing a Popeye and singing "I am what I am what I am what I am hukchugchugchugchugchug"
Shadow Popeye ^_^ That makes me smile.
Careful what you say around me, Craig....
Shadow is soooo gonna kill me...
It's days like this that make me glad to be a Mobius Forummer ^__^ *Hugs Koivo* You win THE PRIZE!
At one point in the trailer you see a short scene of Shadow in a first person view, as he fires off one of his weapons in this view. Is it possible this game might contain short FPS shooter segments?
Only time will tell, though it does feel like they got this idea from a few famous FPS. 😛
here's a Gamerankings link to Gamespy. looks like they have more on this game:
www.gamerankings.com/item...wid=574480
the aliens are called "black arms", there will be 10 different vehicles and 10 different endings.
Quote:

Depending on the vehicle you choose you'll change the ending?
*runs away dodging bullets* XD
The trailer looks mighty awesome. o.o
But I still don't like the guns..<.< and Sonic looks so cute!:3
Now, by the tagline "You decide" do they mean that it's left ambiguous, or that the choices you make in playing the game affect the outcome?
If it's the latter, we can forget about continuity...
Unless they plan to make up for plot holes by saying "It was an alternate possibility" or some other cop-out.
I bet it'll mean it is an alternate future which happens in another dimension 😛 they seem to be doing an Archie-like thing with another dimension in Sonic Rush as well.
Sonic looks just sooo sweet in the trailer.. :3 I want to hug him.
<..>
I think I'm entering Amy mode.
I'd be interested in what range the endings are and how much the effect the course of the game. I assume there'd be a good and evil side to the story, with various endings.
I'd also assume that you have Good GUN, Evil GUN, Good Aliens and Evil Aliens.
Perhaps Neutral endings aswell.
This is kind of what Sonic Team was going for in SA2, I think - the option to play "good" or "evil". Only here you don't pick play on a side, per se, but in a direction. Perhaps if you play out all the possibile endings a Last Stage will unlock and unite them all?
Imagine 10 different Shadows playing together. o.O
I know what the real ending is! Shadow wakes up and sees it was all a dream! *shot*
BTW, the Sonic in the trailer is officially mine to hug. *enters Amy mode and swings a giant mallet while hugging Sonic*

He's hopped into one of the mounted gun turrets, it's not one of his own handheld weapons.
I said that only because in the trailer I saw they didn't show any scenes of Shadow hoping into any mounted gun turret, just him in a first person view firing off his weapon.
But now that I've seen the extended trailer (which basically shows all the scenes from the other one, with a few added) I saw Shadow jumping into a torrent this time around, then firing off his weapon.
So at the time I assumed that was his, as they didn't show any signs of that in the original trailer I saw.
Gamespot has more on this game like the storyline:
www.gamespot.com/gamecube...25824.html
as well as their own trailer:
www.gamespot.com/gamecube...media.html
it's the one titled "Official Movie 1".
o_O
So are they completely disregarding Sonic Heroes?
Or maybe this will be the link between SA2 and SH.
Looks to me like the hero/dark setup from SA2 is making a comeback. I wonder what they mean by "how you go about gathering the emeralds is up to you." Does it just mean hero/good, or is it like shooting/hunting? Probably just me reading beyond the words.
Oh *greaaat*, restoring lost memories. Hooray for Maria flashbacks! Hooray for the falsified memories debate!
So this is gonna be more or less an answer to SA2's ending(more so than Heroes we can confirm). I like the idea of collecting the CEs your own way. With 10 different endings...I see uber-replayability. This I like. Seems I know enough about the game now and to keep the rest of the game a secret this is my last post in this thread. I want this to be a surprise come Christmas so I gotta devote my time to looking up Gems Collection and Sonic Rush(which in time can end up being very good). Six more months and Shadow's first solo outing will be available to us...it's gonna be sweet. *needs to change his avatar, sig, etc*
i've tried three times now to see gamespots 'official movie'. but all it will play is some jeep advert (after taking 10 minutues to load) before IE errors and closes the window.
anyone else having problems seeing it, or doesn't it contain anything new?
i apologise for the 'game sprites' comment. but really, you should be used to me confusing names for things by now. i do it way too often. ox;

We've been curious to see just what Sega has up its sleeve with the upcoming Shadow the Hedgehog, which gives the brooding one a platforming showcase. The game serves up an original story that catches the spiky-coiffed hog after the events seen at the end of Sonic Adventure 2. For those who missed the drama-filled finale of that game, Shadow set out for parts unknown in an escape pod once Sonic showed him the business.
...
LOL!

The problem may be Internet Explorer itself. I don't recommend using IE unless as a last resort, as it has countless bugs. Mozilla Firefox is a pretty safe bet.
TBH, I think people TERRIBLY exxagerate FireFox's superiority... it's better, yeah, but not that much.
looks like IGN is comin' along with game info as well:
cube.ign.com/articles/616/616983p1.html
ability to kill humans?!?!? deciding who lives or dies?!?! your mortality bar rises each time you have more blood on your hands?!?!?! this is gettin' more darker!
...not really surprising though...

Shadow supposedly crash lands on this alien world after the conclusion of Sonic 2, which is being torn apart by two factions at war. This brings up one of Shadow's new gameplay hooks: morality
No way, shadow was in Sonic 2? i missed him this whole time...
There's not a doubt in my mind this game will get a T rating.
