I don't understand why Shadow would work with the Black Arms to try and find his identity, what would they know about him??

correction:

he's working with ppl like Sonic/Eggman/Black Arms because he believes that he can tip the scales between good and evil. finding out about his past is his second mission which sorta ties into the other mission since both deal with the emeralds (the emeralds are the best way to end the war and can restore Shadow's memory). finding out about his past has nothing to do with the Black Arms....but i wouldn't be surprised if they tied those two things together somehow. especially since Kieth Palmer of SEGA said that Black Doom will have a "special role" in this game. who knows? maybe he's a prototype like Biolizard.

Thanks guys, for answering my questions. ;) Sorry about my stupid questions, i dont know much about the game. About Knuckles, maybe he is with Shadow because the Black Arms, or Robotnik stole the Master Emerald, or have threatened to do so, or are heading that way to do so.

Dont worry about it Sonic009. I know zilch about Shadow and i'm too lazy to find anything out becuase i'm a bit behind. oh well. So far Shadow The Hedgehog seems to have a good story. Aliens, Government, Eggman and an amensiac gun wielding Hedgehog.

BRING ON CHRISTMAS!!!

This game keeps looking better and better!

I can't WAIT until they FINALLY explain Shadow's past. This is as good as reading about a new species of ceratopsid(hey, I'm a dinosaur nut, so, coming from me, that's a REALLY good thing).

You know how everyone thinks parts of this game aren't in Shadow's established charater? Get a load of this line that randomly played last time I took on the Finalhazard:

"Hahahahaha! Sonic, I think I figured out what the Ultimat Lifeform is! I think it might be YOU!"
-Shadow
Ooooookaaayyyyy.....:? :? :?

That was the indication Sonic Adventure 2 gave...

Shadow was the Ultimate life Form, created by man...
But Sonic is his equal, and as far as we know he's naturally fast..

...

I want news dammit, roll on November already

Planetgamecube just game a preview of the game and here is something I don't hink has been mentioned yet.

"Shadow the Hedgehog takes place decades after the events of SA2, leaving our protagonist with a severe case of amnesia. Since he has no recollection of his dark past, he decides to seek the power of the Chaos Emeralds, since (in addition to the powers present in previous games) they possess the ability to restore memories."

If thats true, you'd think the characters would look a bit older or something. Or maybe not, maybe Tails will sound like an adult.(yeah right)

^ That comment could have sprung from the "50 years later" thing, which itself could be a screwup (since "50 years" came up so often in SA2, and it could just be confusion about the events that happened 50 years in the future from Maria's death and the closure of the ARK). Anyway, the new trailer plays like every cheesy action movie trailer ever, but some of the scenes look cool (I like the teleporting bits) and I'm curious about the music playing...

A guy at the GameFAQS board was talking about Eggman's voice, and is it just me and him, or does Eggman's new VA sound like it is actuallty Mike Pollock. The guy at GameFAQS is pretty sure and now so am I, ladies and gentlemen I believe Mike Pollock is our new Eggman VA! Anybody else agrees with us?

Hmmm....

Well, although I'd like to stab the announcer the screens and the in game dialogue themselves dont look that bad. Sadly I want to see more of the in game gameplay rather than more VG movies...

I've not seen it due to being on a school comp, but I'm willing to wager it's the former.

Voice:"I need a transporter"

Shadow:"I am listening":p

You know compared to previous Sonic games cinemas, this ones seems to have more action not to mention the story seems pretty deep("After what the humans did to you" or something like that) for a Sonic game. Eggman voice did sound like Pollock but we have to wait and see.

Oh, good Lord, my soul just died a little from watching that trailer. It's like watching a preview of a movie that you know it'll flop because of the overall corniness. This doesn't fill me with confidence on the Shadow game (which as much as I hate Shadow, will play first before judging whether it's good or bad).

It IS a bit... over the top...

But MOST of the problems in that trailer stem from the "doom laden" narrator who PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE probably wont actually be in the real game...

The dialogue given by Shadow and other characters wasn't that bad, it was just the narrator saying; "He was born the ultimate life form..." "And now he's back..." "To choose between GOOOD..." "AND EVVVVVIIIILLLLLLLL"

On the plus side, the music wasn't as bad as Warrior's Within heavy metal soundtrack :nn;

So now we know Shadow's the Ultimate Lifeform, not the Biolizard!

Honestly though, I do think the whole advertising gimmick is that "Shadow has a gun!". It's probably been said before.

And why in hell do they show us Shadow on a motorbike? Do we actually need further proof of his coolness pushed into our faces? Can't we make up our own minds?

*Sniffle* I liked it. ;____________;

How much does anyone want to bet that at the end Black Doom transforms into a giant monster? Or even better yet... Super Sonic confronts Shadow!

Haha, that's my bet for the Last Story.

Not sad at all, as I totally agree. I want to see some gameplay that matches up to this dark, action-packed, badass, biking trailer.

Random thought: Shadow's one-sided mouth, combined with his black fur, reminds me of Micky Mouse, which totally takes away from the "cool" look this game.

Sonic was partly designed after Mickey Mouse.

and since Sonic and Shadow look almost identical then....

Seeing as it's been revealed that your path (read: allegiance) through the game dictates what bosses you'll face, a battle against Super Sonic could possibly happen :)

Agreed. That part in the beginning with the narrator saying all that stuff made me giggle a bit, the rest I just merely cringed at.

The dialogue given by Shadow and other characters wasn't that bad, it was just the narrator saying; "He was born the ultimate life form..." "And now he's back..." "To choose between GOOOD..." "AND EVVVVVIIIILLLLLLLL"

I felt the dialogue to be too corny for me. I thought I'd have been used to it by now after playing recent batches of Sonic 3D games and surviving nearly 8 years or so of 4Kids dub, but apparently not.

On the plus side, the music wasn't as bad as Warrior's Within heavy metal soundtrack

Oh, my Gosh...Warrior Within's music...Good Lord...I only played the demo and already I cringed heavily on that game's choice of music. It's so cheesy. I wanna actually play the game to see how much they "matured" it. *is sad since Sands of Time was an awesome game*

Oh god Prince of Persia WW was really mature. it had breasts, blood, swearing and everything.
Seriously thought Warrior Within had a great combat system but the soundtrack was inappropriate to say the least. they could have at least used instraments from the time period and area.
Warrior Within is ok but I got stuck at a bit where your chased by this huge black monster thing and there was no clue where to go to avoid having your head ripped off by this thing. So I traded the Xbox Warrior Within for the much better PS2 Sands Of Time when i got my new (Preowned)Aqua PS2. Better game.

Nitpicking, but games aren't "mature". It may contain matter intended for mature audiences, but games themselves aren't mature. Unless it was in development for a few decades or so, but that's yet to be the case (though Duke Nukem Forever's pushing it).

yeah, theres two type of Mature. Mature content (Mortal Kombat, Prince of Persia ect) and mature gameplay (Mario Paper, Pikmin) Game Central had a huge discussion about it after Warrior within.

Nooo, not REALLY... just mature content. DIFFICULT gameplay, maybe, but not mature gameplay.

I already knew this was not a hoax.
The reason I knew it wasn't a hoax was becaus I went to www.Sega.com and saw something about Shadow the Hedgehog game.
It seemed like a hoax seing Shadow with a gun at Sega.com. But I saw screenshots and a video clip. It looked like if it had Resident Evil gameplay (I didn't play resident evil I only saw screens in a magazine) except It was high speed and shooting. It had Sonic Heroes graphics.

But they only just got here and obviously saw the first post for the first time. I edited it {at Craig's request :P} back when Harley was still screaming it was a hoax, so their post is kinda understandable.

Hate to drag it on further, but i still believe Warrior Within's greatest problem was the soundtrack...
The theme song "I stand alone" was great, and the Shaka tune rocked but at EVERY other moment there was angry rock music playing...

They should of kept it for the MANY battles like they did in SoT...
The gameplay wasn't THAT bad, it was a bit dark but the music was just something that REALLY set you off. When it should of been bright and mysterious it was angry and rocking out, when it should of been slow and creepy it was fast and loud...
It just puts you in a bad mood which in turn makes you not enjoy the game. A combinatio nof the bigs and REALLY innapropriate music ruined the game as you REALLY weren't in the mood.

And the moral Shadow must learn:
There's nothing wrong with loud rock music, but it should be used appropriately.

We're getting a little off-topic, but I think Kaileena and the Dahaka made up for all of WW's glaring faults. I mean, come on.. the Dahaka was awesome. Prince: *Hides behind a little pillar* Dahaka: YOUR ANGEL OF DEATH AWAITS!!11 *DESTROYS EVERYTHING LOOKING FOR HIM*

Anyway, on-topic... um... ShtH looks pretty awesome. :D

I wouldn't say Sonic was based off of Mickey Mouse. He's alot more like Felix the Cat. Take Felix, strap sawblades on his back, paint him blue, you got Sonic.

It has a decent story at least. Does Shadow get revenge on GUN for killing Maria by siding with the aliens? Or does he save the world by siding with GUN? It's a tough decision for Shadow, and it may all rely on what he finds out about his past.

It did sound alot like Pollock and just in case anyone's interested, it sounds like the alien is saying "This will remind you about what the humans did to you" so maybe he shows Shadow the humans killing Maria at one point which is probably why he helps them.

It's funny you say that, because Mickey Mouse was based off of Felix the Cat. But yeah, Sonic/Shadow does look a lot more like Felix than Mickey now that you mention it.

Agreed. This is how I feel about those Final Fantasy games -- mixing in cinematics with gameplay.

Cinematics cost a LOT of money, and that money should be put into GAMEPLAY, in my opinion. I personally dislike games that overuse cinematics -- some people think it's good to have them in, for a "breather", but I believe they shouldn't exist in the first place, even to "advance the plot." They're fine as an introduction and ending, I suppose -- just resist from taking away control from the player as much as possible.

This is a game, not a movie. Though, being a big fan of it all, I'm excited to see some of these videos -- they look interesting!

No cinematics? That'd be pretty nuts. Half the reason I play the Ratchet and Clank games and played Sonic Adventure 2 sixty zillion times was soley because of the cinematics.

What Aldrius said. I love the cutscenes. They drive the game along. Although I would like some of them to remain hidden for playing through the game. We've seen so many cutscenes, I doubt there's anything they haven't shown. =P Although I would like to see how the vehicle riding is handled in game, so some of that would be nice.

actually, they took elements from both. Mickey and Felix are two of the most recognizable characters that SEGA took inspiration from when making the character Sonic.

While surfing the Shadow board at GameFAQs, I found topics about Shadow's rating and according to them Shadow is rated E or E-10+. The pictures also show the apparent boxart of the game too. The first picture is here and this picture is taken from the shop at Sonic Central.

That boxart is incredibly busy...they need to really really tone it down and Shadow getting an E or an E+10 rating? Like what gives? Ratchet and Clank got a T rating for cartoon weapons...

So they are using the promo pic for cover *cough*lazy*cough*
As Ratchet and Clank rating if I remember correctly the game had sexual humor (Up your arsenal) which why T rating.

Torn, when did R&C come out, did it come out after ESRB created E-10+ or before. If it came before, that may explain why Shadow got an E-10+ instead of a T. Of course, even though the boxart looks official, there's still a chance this may just be a fake one just so Sonic Central can have a picture and that Shadow truly has not been rated, yet, but I would wager it's real.

Jesus, that looks angst-ridden to the point of being goofy.

First off, I love how he pumps his submachine gun like a shotgun. Secondly, I love how pseudo-dark the mood is, like Prince Of Persia Warrior Within only even MORE forced. Thirdly, Shadow sounds bored. Fourthly, and this is a big one, what the hell was that ultra-generic nu-metal crap at the end of the trailer? I never thought I'd say this, but I think I'm gonna miss the cheesy pop-punk music they thrust into the Sonic Adventures if all they're gonna offer is this "I'M ABOUT TO BREAK!" nonsense.

Skip, skip, a thousand times skip. Sega's officially lost its collective marbles.
