I thought Omega destroyed all the Shadow clone robots in Heroes.
See, already we have unanswered questions put forward by this game.
Shadow against Shadow clones...
Kick their repetitive asses, baby!
Hmmm... I was thinking, and you know how in most Sonic games you need the seven Chaos Emeralds to get the 'special' or real ending? Well since now it's the neutral stages that give you Chaos Emeralds, and you have to stay neutral all the way through to get them all, it looks like the 'real' ending is that Shadow stays neutral. Badass neutral. Just like he's always been.
I was right!

I reckon that'll just be one of the many 'What is Shadow?' endings.

There could have been other clones/robots elsewhere.
I cant get the spoiler tags to work, so beware....
If any mods pass by and dont mind reading, please edit them so they work...
I don't know whats wrong with me but I've tried everything, and still no progress...
HSW edit: Gotcha covered. I think spoiler has to be singular, not plural. I'm not usre, I always use HTML formatting anyway...
SPOILERS
Actually I've been doing a bit of research and someone's put forwards a theory that involves Time Travel and the 7 emeralds... The idea is that every time you finish a story you get an emerald, then Shadow goes back and does things differently, as if it was a big What If... If this is true then it means ALL of the endings are true, but only one of them is the final FINAL ending.... |
*looks at HSW pics*
Holy crap Shadow pull a Neo and fight an army of clones. From the looks of the third pic it appears going to be something similar to the casino and haunted castle boss battles from Sonic Heroes.
Edit- I found the link to the pics

Look like Shadow can use parachute too.
Yay Omega lives. God I hope they dont give him Gamma voice from Sonic X.:">

Nothing stopping Eggman from making more. We dobn't know how much time passes between Heroes and Battle and then Battle and this. ...Unless this somehow occurs before Battle. Whatever.

Sounds good.

Yeah, I've been looking forward to a Shadow clone boss fight since Heroes.
either that or Kung Lao has lost his hat.
SPOILERS:
i watched the video and i must say that i'm purdy impressed with what i see. the storyline IS in fact after SA2/B and Heroes. you see Shadow having flashbacks from when he and Super Sonic did chaos control to stop ARK and a flashback of the clones in their capsules in Heroes. he has other flashbacks as well. Shadow doesn't seem to know Black Doom, but Doom seems to know him. Shadow doesn't listen to Doom much (he says he collects the emeralds for his own reasons). the levels are linear like SA2/B yet still pretty long. there is lots of destruction going on as expected. the Black Arms creatures seem to have life bars while the GUN soldiers don't. but either way, you can kill them in one hit with weapons. and while whoever was playing was just running through the levels, i saw some cool vehicles and items that ppl mentioned such as a jeep, a motorbike and Eggpawn jousting stick. everything you get and can perform seems to be useful. walking on walls helps you reach places with more ease, Shadow also seems to have the ability to grab onto bars. one of the only problems i've seen in this video is that the rail sliding could use a bit more work. the game doesn't seem slippery so i'm expecting less complaints. the cutscenes look good. especially the movie-esque ones. Eggman moves so real in one of the movie-esque cutscenes. his mustache looks pretty real....yet caked together. and yes, Omega is in this game as well as the Shadow clones. Omega seems to be revolting against Eggy again. you and him can work together to stop Eggman and his Shadow clones who, by the way, are basically badniks. you fight them throughout the level. the boss battles seem more thought out this time around. in this video, you get to see two bosses. both Eggman bosses. the first one was an Egg-Emperor looking boss. that boss fight was sorta like the final boss (Egg Emperor) in Heroes, only with more badniks in the area (including the Shadow clones). but there was no chase fighting. Eggman just stood on a high platform in the middle of the battle field, shooting lasers down at you while the baniks were on the ground with you were trying to destroy you. the whole point of that fight was, of course, to get to the Eggman. you do that by locating and using rockets around the area to take you up in the air close enough to Eggy. after the rocket wears out, it will turn into a parachute and you'll slowly land back down to where the badniks are. while you slowly go down, you have a chance to lock on (yes, lock on IS in this game) to Eggy and fire. but watch out! he still fires lasers at you! move around in the air with the parachute to dodge. one of the type of badniks on the ground are Eggpawns. they have guns and bazookas you can steal so you may want to use those against Eggy. also, chaos control seems to freeze time during boss battles (as you know, in levels it makes you fly forward) instead of flying around...because flying around would be useless in boss battles. you'll be able to stop time (the screen colors become inverted as expected) and attack. i believe that after awhile (maybe after you're done killing all the baniks on the ground including the Shadow clones) Eggy comes down to the ground and attacks you head on. after you beat him, you head to a lava place where another boss is located. the boss of the lava place is a robot with long legs that looks like a crab. from what i can see, on it's chest are casino slots. the point of this battle is that Eggy moves around the battle field in that robot and when he stops, one of the slots stops to reveal a picture of what seems to be the robot. i'm guessing that if he can get all three slots to show the robot, he'll do something purdy powerful. you'll have to hit him when he stops to make sure one of the slots shows a picture of you instead of the robot. thus, ruining his chances of a three way match of robot picture. on the top right side of the screen, you'll be able to see a picture of the slots to keep track. he'll keep on doing this. in the center of the battle field, there's a floating orb with an M marked on it. i do not know what this does since the guy kept on dying everytime he tried to reach it. anyway, the ending cutscene seems to roll in after that where you see Shadow and Omega standing over the defeated Eggman. all 7 chaos emeralds are floating around Shadow while they're talking to Eggy. after that, Shadow seems to kill Eggman....0.o. i dunno. he seems to have made a hand motion that looked like he was summoning something to come down and strike Eggy. dunno if that was that he finished him off with a chaos move or if he signaled Omega to shoot Eggy, but when you saw Shadow do that hand motion, you saw the screen shake. all in all. it looks pretty solid. Shadow does say "hell" twice in this video. 😉 the graphics look great. and while the AI and rail sliding seem to have some work cut out for them, they're nothing to complain about. neutral mode is, without a doubt, the shortest of the three....yet still enjoyable. |
(*end SPOILERS*)
P.S: that scene with Sonic in the ground was a glitch that happened for just a second. so calm down.

@ everyone @#%$ over the Sonic screenshot:
It's an unfinished game. It may be coming out in 2 months, but a lot of work can be done in two months. That's what beta-testing is for, to iron out the bugs. Presumably the person that filmed this had somehow got a beta-test copy, which (surprise) will still have some glitches and whatnot.
Jesus Christ, people. Seriously. One blurry screenshot or mistranslated piece of text and suddenly everyone's spewing theories or just plain whining. At the very least rent the damn thing and see how it plays instead of watching a movie of a quick runthrough of the basic @#%$ story, extra routes and endings notwithstanding.

^Seconded. I don't want to have to read from a bunch of whiners how Sega completely botched the game 2 months before the game is released from watching some half-assed video. Play the game and experience it yourself. Only then will your opinions actually have some weight.
Yea sorry about that...I just want the game to be completely flawlwess, any sign of error is a failure(IMO).
After reading some more spoilers, this game sounds very good. I guess it really all comes down to fixing the bugs, which im sure sonic team will fix. Well, atleast the most obvious and annoying bugs anyway.
The Robot King
That's actually the opposite impression I was getting from The GHZ's impressions.
Of course, they're pretty much the eternal pessimists, so the only way to know for sure is to download that video for myself...
How spoilery are some of the spoilers people have posted here? If they completely spoil the origin of Shadow and all the secrets then I'll stay away, but are there some that just sort of give more depth to the games plot without giving away anything really significant?
All spoilers in this topic right now aren't very major, no. The only major thing is that which is hinted in the third screenshot I hotlinked.
Yea they aren't very major. I've been wondering where did that big, one eyed, Cyclops dude end up going? I haven't seen or heard anything about him in quite a few months.
Spoilers (Select To Read) He might be a guy you face when you're on the hero side. |

It takes a month and a half to localize, certify, manufacture, and ship a completed game for simultaneous cross-platform release. Either it'll be delayed and they'll miss the Christmas target, or it'll get rushed and have a lot of clipping bugs.
But how old is that pic? It could be that they have at this very moment already fixed it.

Firstly, that may be a one-off glitch, and secondly, you don't know how old that version of the game is compared to how much they've progressed now. That could have been a non-bugfixed copy from a few months back.
For what it matters, the video itself is only about a week old, as far as when it was recorded goes... I don't think the alpha/beta would be THAT much earlier, especially when you bear in mind that this IS Sonic Team we're talking about.
WOW. It appears people have uncovered a lot more stuff since I've been on holiday...
While I WAS on holiday, however, I met a boy. He says he's a hacker, and that he's downloaded ShTH off of a game producer's computer. Interesting. He says the game's in a debug mode, which makes sense. He says he can summon enemies and NPCs, and make Shadow bigger/smaller and get any weapon. Yep, that's debug.
I couldn't lynch much info from him but from what I've heard he sounds pretty legit.
Well I finally manage to download the video. It look awesome even if was an alpha. Btw they are already showing Shadow ads in magazines. I saw one in Nov. issue of PSM.
It was 3 pages ad. The first page show this pic media.cube.ign.com/media/734/734824/img_3022883.html
execpt it was darker and it had the words " There are good guys and there are bad guys". Then the other two pages had Shadow with a rocket launcher and fire in the background. It has the words "and then there is Shadow" in the second page. Well why it wasnt that great at least it was better having a bunch of old people like Sonic Heroes.
Heheh, that Sonic Heroes ad was kinda funny, but it didn't do a lot to promote the game, imo. I'm looking forward to seeing Shadow ads in EGM, now...
The real, final ending to the game:
Shadow stands high atop a dilapdated building, surround by the opposing forces on the ground who have all amassed to this point...
GUN leader: "Shadow, you were created by Professor Gerald as a miltary weapon. You are property of GUN, a mere armament the same as any combat machine or tactical weapon. You know this is your destiny and where you belong.."
Eggman: "He lies. You are of the Shadow I have spawned. You've seen and fought them yourself.. you're one of them."
Black Doom: "The humans lack the ability to create something as advanced as the true you, Shadow. Gaze upon the perfect army of beings I have created by my own hand.. and know you are one of them. My own work.."
Sonic: "Shadow! I believe you do know who you are - and regardless of who created you - you belong to noone. But you're still one of us!"
Shadow: "..I am.."
Suddenly, a bright flash of light brings forwarth a spatial disruption that looks much like Chaos Control..
Voice: "Shadow..."
..and a relatively new yet familiar face presents itself..
Blaze the Cat: "..Is my world's version of Sonic the Hedgehog!"
Completely crazy, but a fun idea

LOL no.
actually. i can sorta confirm that this video is based off of an earlier demo, not recent.
i've seen a black and white demo video of the game and it had a bit more stuff going on in the game. for example, the cutscene after Westopolis is a bit shorter in this video than the other video that i saw. also, in the video i saw, the game didn't freeze from time to time like this one....actually, i can't really remember that happening in other videos, especially an old one that showed the entire Westopolis level. but i few no-name gamesites did mention that, but they were sure that it would be fixed in the final version. i'm guessing that's why other gamesites didn't even bother mentioning it.
and anyway, there were glitches in this video that they obviously will/already fix in the final version such as the jumping freeze glitch and the freeze screen.
also, if you didn't read at the end of my spoilers, that whole Sonic with half his body in the street thing only lasted for about two seconds. there is no reason for anybody to complain about it. also, we've see many other videos and that never happened. that was probably one of those one-shot glitches.
bottom line: though this video was released a few weeks ago, the event itself is probably old like E3 or that seattle gaming place.

I found that hard to believe the story that boy told you. He's pulling your leg.

For a moment, I thought this was a spoiler and I was going nuts saying "how dare spoil the ending of the game before it's even released" until I read the Blaze the Cat's quote.
You almost got me. o.-
I'm keeping an eye on this game. It looks interesting.
I read that ending thinking I was going to have to kill myself afterwards for spoiling the real ending to the game.
That's a little extreme... o_O
I'm surprised no-one's found this yet...it's all over Sonikku and Sonic Vegemite forums...

There! The Shadow theme! And I personally think it RAWKS.
shadowfax: That's a redundant post, I believe we saw that a few pages back.
Your right, Rob, manaita posted it on page 76, and yes, shadowfax, it is indeed awesome, it's shaping up to be one of my favortie Sonic theme songs ever. Hmm, I wonder if the other characters will have their own themes in this game?
let me confirm a few things from what i saw in the video. this game has:
-better braking: in Heroes when you tried to brake, you slid a bit. in this game Shadow appears to stop on a dime.
-grabbing: Shadow will have the ability to grab bars/rails and the edge of platforms. this can really come in handy. for example, if you JUST missed a platform, but were already touching the edge of it, Shadow will grap the edge. i'm not entirely sure if you have to press a button or if Shadow grabs on automatically, however, this should help those of you who have trouble with crossing over pits.
-back flip: dunno how this will come of use, but it looks good. it's also probably great for boss battles or staying away from something.
these are included with the strafing that we already knew about. it let's you walk on walls for a limited time.

I don't know if this is the real cover(that E+10 rating could be wrong)but it look like artwork in ad that I saw PSM.
I'm beginnin to dislike the idea of his game more and more. Havin heard he theme, I really don't wanna get it. I hope this doesn't draw me away from the Sonic seies.
...because of the soundtrack? Dude, press the mute button if it greatly offends you.
It's a perfectly reasonable complaint, if a rather poor choice as the only reason to not buy it. I'll just add it to the growing pile of reasonable complaints on my end.
JMan's right. If you don't like the music, turn down the sound and put some funky tracks on your stereo system.
I'd prefer 'Shadow on the Sun'. Or 'Praying to the Aliens'. Or maybe 'Son of a Gun'.
Because I'm obvious and twee.
I dont know. Music is a third of the game expierience. So if someone doesnt like the soundtrack, they lose on a third of the expierence.
Mind you I quite liked the theme.
I'm sure there'll be an option to turn the music off, I mean come on! It's the 21st Century after all, lol
Despite the fact that Sonic Team has yet to give you the option to mute ANYTHING in their games...
Quote:

*cough*PSO*cough* >>
Yeah, well, that's a different team entirely, innit?
nope, it's made by sonic team!
you have an option to change the sound balance for the music and the sound effects. but unless you've played the game, i wouldn't expect you to know it. ^^ *cookie*
Yes, but by now it's become Sonic Team is no longer a single "team", but a amalgam of SEVERAL different teams. We have Iizuka's American branch producing games like Shadow, we have the team creating Sonic Riders, the team making Feel the Magic and Where Do Babies Come From?, the team who made Puyo Pop, the team who made Astro Boy, the team who made PSO and is now making PS Universe... while some of these teams are undoubtedly the same team, it's pretty obvious there's SOME kind of split into various different teams there. Not to mention Dimps.
Regardless of how many different factions there are of Sonic Team, though, it doesn't look like the group behind Phantasy Star Online are working on Shadow, only the group behind Heroes.
but this is from before 2002, i though sonic team hadn't been split up into so many branches back then?
if not, then forget my earlier post.
So you're saying a game has to have the same development team to include a basic audio balance option?
well....
*gasp* it's a Christmas miracle!
