This is pretty risky but I will ask the question. Did we ever decide what(real or fake) Shadow was in Sonic Heroes? I know i'm gonna get beat to a pulp, revived, hanged, brought back to life, then drowned for even bringing this up, but after watching the Team Dark FMVs, I think i've pretty much come up with an answer as to Shadow in Sonic Heroes. So yea....did we ever decide? *banned from living*

No. It's very strongly hinted that he's an android in Heroes, but people continue to argue over it.

Meh... I've always thought it was the real shadow. Note the "Some things never change, do they?" at teh end of Team Dark's FMV sequences. Anyway, the game IS coming out in November, so chill. It's only december for japan cause the game was made in the US. ANd..... DANG! The more I see, the more I want it. XD

Just got back from the DigitalLife expo in Manhatten today and got to spend some time with the GameCube version of the game (not much though... I had to feed my girlfriend and after that I couldn't even lay a hand on it...)

I only got to play through Westopolis, but so far I like the game. The speed is just right, and it feels more like Sonic Adventure 2 than Sonic Heroes in terms of gameplay and control. The only letdown is how loose Shadow feels. If you tap the stick in a direction he tends to slide a fairly long distance, which isn't too much for some, but a little too much for my taste at least.

The gunplay was alright. It was useful to blow up any nearby bombs, and it doesn't slow down gameplay at all. Just kinda tricky to aim though. Guess I shoulda tried the lock-on guns...

But yeah in short... this game really feels like it rocks. hopefully I will get to play some more on Sunday when I go back Till then all i can say is:
:] :] :] :] :] :] :]

Wait, I thought he was an android after all. >> Now I'm all confused. And if he is, then which Shadow is in this game, android or real?

And that "dance partner" comment gave me a bizzare idea for a fanfiction... >> *goes to write it down before she forgets what it is*

Heh.. this is exactly what this game is about.. depending on which path you choose you get a different answer. =
But it's confirmed that there is a Last Mode and that's probably when the definite answer will be given.

ColoM. I could kiss you, if you're saying that Shadow is loose, then that makes me SMILE! SA2 was way too stiff compared to SA1, if they go for SA2's speedy trickstyle ontop of SA1's freedom of control, I'll be grinning.

Well, I wont, because I still have bad omens regarding Shadow, but it'll soften the blow.

It just looks like velvet, or something.

And about the theory, perhaps his son was in the base when it splode or something. And he blames Shadow.

I mean, he can't blame Eggman, being his brother and all, and after the wonderful time Rouge gave him last night....

Currently scheduled for release on November 15, Shadow the Hedgehog is a 3D platformer set roughly 50 years after the events of Sonic Adventure 2

I've put up with it long enough, someone tell me the person who worte that line doesn't actually think this game is 50 years in future after SA2. I'm hoping he means 50 years after Shadow's creation(which was an event of SA2 but still), because when I see "after the events of", I can't help but think these people are thinking it's 50 years after SA2. Anywho nice pics, I don't mind the fur. It's just because it's so close it looks so weird, if the view was brought back it would probably look better.

it seems that we have another fan who managed to play a recent demo somewhere in my place, New York City (w00t! finally! maybe i can go!). he seems very pleased (and very impressed) with the game so far. he's very surprised that the gunplay works so well. he (and many gamesites) can be quoted to say that the gunplay is "fluid".

at first, he didn't seem to like the swordplay that much, mainly because he thought that you could only stand in one place whilst doing it, but he realized that he was wrong. he still prefers to use the torch (yes, a torch has been confirmed and it seems to be more "flexible" than the sword) or normal martial arts moves, but he always admitted that the sword was very powerful (probably the best of the "close combat" category weapons).

so far, it's his favorite new Sonic game (he played the first level of Rush and didn't like it.....which is a first seeing as how all others are praising it and he's yet to play Riders). he's gone back to play more of the Shadow demo and reports that he's loving the game even more after playing the level with Amy and Eggman (i'm guessing he means "Sky Festival" the current confirmed name of that carnival-esque level).

but overall it seems that he's preferring the firearms over all other weapons...mainly firearms like the alien laser gun and the bazooka.

he also reports that the controls are very good, but after playing all three versions (GC, PS2, Xbox), he says that the GC controls feel the best. what worries me though is that he said that the game was very fast and caused him to die a few times. and while he seems to like that (as do 99.9% of the gamesites who played the earlier demo), i seem to think that it might be a thorn in the game's side. i mean i can handle it (i've handled the previous games with no problem), but this might be a future complaint by ppl who buy/rent the game. the controls could balance this out though and from what i've seen, Shadow seems to, pretty much, stop on a dime when braking in this game as opposed to Heroes where the characters slid.

i asked him a couple questions:

Quote:

Janucheese: is the game still good when you don't use weapons?

Well yeah, but not as good. See, the thing mostly is that gameplay will run around it, but it's not needed. But it certainly helps and speeds things up.

Janucheese: does the game feel repetitive?

Not in the least.

IMO, this game sounds promising. a pretty solid one. definately better than Heroes (which i still liked), but as to whether it will top the immortal Sonic Adventure 2/Battle (the "S3&K" of today) has yet to be seen. i'm afraid to ask, but i might since i did before with another fan who played the demo (and said that this game might sit pretty close to the Adventure series)......

EDIT: more of the interview (first one asked by me):

Quote:

Janucheese: how do you feel this currently ranks with the Adventure series and Heroes?

Much, much better. While I liked SA2 it had its problems (ie, Tails forgetting he could fly, I hated Emerald searches, didn't know why Robotnik didn't make a giant robot to do his missions, etc), and Heroes is one of those games that I also liked. Pretty fun, and if you know how to play it, pretty fast paced. However this game has a massive improvement over Heroes's engine completely in every single way possible.

I know that the sword wasn't exactly great on the ground, but how useful was it in air-borne combat?

Well you could use it in the air and it keeps you there for a while. Not that useful there either though as you could always just homing attack in there.

Were bottomless pits a problem?

Not really. Running of stage occasionally was though (when there are no barriers).

And about how many hits did it take to kill a enemy.

Average enemy, 2 hits, dead. Some, more than that. And I'm just using the default of the homing jump.

Also did you fight any boss? If so were they more like heroes are the adventure series.

1 boss. Hm... I guess more like Heroes but really, bosses in the Adventure series weren't exactly that thrilling with Tails/Robotnik... and Knuckles was "okay" with bosses mostly. Not that annoying, although if I have to think how this boss was, the closest I can think of is in a Knuckles level, that Ghost. You hit, repeatedly no less, and he runs away. But the bosses have more life to them, so it's more like Heroes in that they won't die in 3 or 5 hits.

Oh and how were the music and voice acting in it.

Voice acting, pretty good. Familiar too, I think it was mostly the same cast.

I didn't get to hear Tails, thankfully.

My opinion of the new character models is that while the fur textures could use some work, I perfer that the charactes look like stitchless plushies rather then plasic figurines with rubber arms and legs(or worst super shiny plasic figurines with rubber limbs)

According to IMDB, all of the cast except for Sonic and Shadow are now their Sonic X voices, but Ryan Drummond and David Humphries are still providing Sonic and Shadow's voices. Hmmmm.

And who are the people who've actually played this game? The fans. The fact that all of the characters EXCEPT Sonic and Shadow are now credited to their Sonic X voices just adds evidence to the possibility that Drummond and Humphries are sticking around.

Yeah, I noticed that. It was driving me nuts that they could screw up hat much on a rendered thing like that. I wouldn't hold it against someone ingame, but that's just sad.
And does the little button noses of Rouge and Tails disturb anyone else?

I dont think it is a screw up. If its a screw up surely it would be a pink blob. There is shading and the pink is textured. I do think thats her leg and its a slight redesign of her boot.

So maybe the latest fashion is to have slit shoes???

Who knows?
it dosnt look THAT bad, and I'm not sure it's a screw up, it's too textured for that.

Just a seond here. How long have Rouge's eyes been green? I thought they were cyan.

Sonic Adventure 2 - Cyan
Sonic Battle - Cyan
Sonic Heroes - Sea Green
Shadow The Hedgehog - Green

She must wear contacts or something. Blind as a bat.

They added Tails and Amy profiles at the Shadow site.

They had to mention that bloody Cyclone instead of the Tornado.

Yeah, exactly!! I've always labelled Rouge's eye color as 'teal' ever since SA2, and it bugs me when even official pictures have her looking more and more green-eyed (ooh, jealousy? :cuckoo )

Been away from the computer for a while. Doesn't look like Shadow's let me down with enough info. to keep me through another week at school.

So... Black Doom knew Shadow BEFORE, hmm? I thought it was a spur of the moment kinda thing. I wonder what Shadow was supposed to get out of this...?

I'm glad there's lots of characters to back you up. Two are still hidden. WHO WANTS IVO FOR A PARTNER! THAT'D ROCK!

Edit: Well, I fail at spoiler tags, so...

HSW: I don't.

Who could that last partner be? We know one's Omega.

And five bucks says that Shadow's end of the deal with Black Arms involved Maria.

About Amy's boot; it's a mistake. It doesn't matter if it's shaded or not, because light and shade are calculated and rendered automatically, not painted on section-by-section.

don't read if you don't wanna be extremely spoiled:
Give credit to Westfanboy off Gamefaqs, who solved the mystery before November 8-12 (When I reavel everything on gamefaqs)

Blackarms are from the "Black Meteor", the Black Meteor last appeared 54 years ago on Earth. Do 50 years remind you of something. Yes, Black Doom helped Gerald on the Shadow Project. The whole thing is in the intro, Westfanboy notticed on the newspaper, under "Sky Festival fire", it says that the Black Meteor appears after 50 years. My sources revealed this to me a while back, but now I can talk about it because someone got evidence to back it up, though I furthur supported there idea with more fact.

The lowdown, Blackarms come from the Black Meteor 54 years ago, dropping out of the Black Cloud. Black Doom meets Gerald. Grants Gerald the gift of giving immortality.to his Shadow project. Leaves, with a promise that Shadow will one day bring him ultimate power when he needs it, the Chaos Emeralds. Eggman envades there planet. Black Doom goes to Shadow for promised power. The story begins...

@Craig:
i remember the military wanting an unltimate weapon and Gerald wanting to find a cure for Maria....but i don't recall him or the military aiming for an immortal being.

i do recall Shadow being called immortal, but i don't think they ever fully explained HOW Gerald actually made Shadow immortal.

didn't it seem sorta weird that Gerald was able to create something like Shadow? he was a genious, but i don't think that he could find a way to make something immortal. IMO, the only way he could possibly have done that was by permanently inserting a chaos emerald into Shadow....but i don't think that's possible. especially since that would really mess up the storyline (Super Sonic and co. would never be). this explains how something that seemed to be impossible came to be. maybe he always meant for Shadow to be immortal before he met Doom, be that as it may, there's nothing that can prove that he actually succeeded in doing it on his own. thus, SEGA found an opening.

Please make sure you all properly encase spoilers. This can be done correctly by clicking "Posting Tools" and then clicking on the "Spoilers" button. It'll prompt you to use HTML if you don't have it set to it.

It's on the very top of your "entry reply" page. The one with your user name, restrictions, posticons, etc.

If you click on it, the spoilers button is under the Metal Sonic, Super Sonic and Super Shadow posticons.

Btw, you must have your formatting at HTML in order for the spoiler function to work. It won't work with ezCodes and it certainly won't work with plain text.

Irritatingly, Konqueror can't view the SPA, South Island, Staff or EVC due to the transparent BGs used for the topic listing. Rather, due to the transparent BG not working. Works fine in Firefox at home, but I don't know if they made a Linux version or if I'd be allowed to install it here if there was.

On-topic, though, Posting Tools DOES show up in it, but I never really used it anyway.

Just got an e-mail from Sega that the Sega City Shadow Site is open, has lots of cool music and info, so was a welcome spam-mail (for once).

Interestingly, Rouge's bio reads "A former secret agent (read: spy)" for the President of the federal government"

This would imply she DID quit after SA2 as promised, and gives Sonic Battle another harsh shove to the edge of the continuity canon.
