Yeah, I've lost most interest in the Shadow game, after reading the reviews. Really, the 360 game looks better to me, anyway. I guess I'll still have some hope for a 3D Sonic until I try out that one. And to answer your question, Super Smash Bros. Melee is the game to own for Gamecube.

It's better then what I expected. but, in all honesty I wasn't expecting much at all, so uh... yeah.

The levels are a mixed bag. There have been some I particularly liked (The Level 4 Ark inbetween Dark and neutral, plus the final Dark GUN level) and others hated, like the Matrix one was godawful as I must have died 20 times at the start of it before I realized you were meant to ride down on the platform. >>

Graphics aren't too much of a bother after experiencing Heroes, and the only time it's really notacible is either in the vehicles or the cutscenes.

The guns seem to just... feel right.

As for level of swearing, they did overuse the word 'damn' way too many times. "Where is that damn fourth Chaos Emerald?!"

Voices are better then I expected. They're not in your face blatantly annoying and aren't a constant distraction, other then Charmy. But I like how they seemed to keep his personality fitting in with that hyperness.

I've finished about 5 endings now (2 neutral, 1 Dark/neutal, 1 Dark, 1 Hero/Neutral) and it should be interesting to see what the rest are like.

Very mixed then. Of course I'm here with GAMEMASTER review... Overall 65% Which means that this game is 13% worse than Heroes in their eyes.

Pros
Dexcent high speed thrills
Some replay value for fans
Unitentionally funny cut scences

Cons
The guns are bearly there
When will Sonic get new ideas
Charmy the Bee More 'loathe'

Graphics - 88% They really liked the graphics. They did show a lot of the space level stuff.
Gameplay - 58% The guns werent good enough for them so all was left was running forward.
Lifespan - 70 % If your a Sonic fan theres stuff to do.

Okay quick question. How many secret guns are they? So far I unlocked:

1)Billy Hatcher gun - that sucks enemy and boxes and once it runs out of ammo gives you a life

2)Omochao gun - it shoot Omochao heads.I found it funny the hitting the bad guy with it. I wonder if is a referance to SA2 where you could throw Omochao at the enemies.

3)Samurai sword - look cool. Also it can be up grade too.

4) Heal gun - the name says it all. I first I wonder how hell was healing gun gonna be useful, then I shoot the GUN soldiers with it and they salute me. I read somewhere that they help you out if heal them but all they done is salute
me.

5)Beam from above - it gun that call those laser beam from the first level

Those are pretty much what I have unlocked.

By "help you out", it meant "stop shooting at you." 😛

Well not really since I shot them and they drop the weapon.

The heal gun is more or less an instant A rank for The Doom hero mission. Just aim over a scientist and BAMF, alive and kicking.

Very useful, if only for the one mission.

In the GUN Fortress level troops often say "Mr. Yuji Naka is okay!" seconds before you unleash a Vulcan Raven Gatling on them.

I beat it...

Spoilers (Select To Read): It was queer yet expected. I don't understand why they never mentioned the biolizard... AT ALL in the game. Devil Doom, the final boss, resembles it immensely.

Long and Hard, i mean there is over 250 Stories! But only one is the real one. (The bottomest dot is the proper ending) but i think we will find out in issues 156-159.

My Favorite Line:

Vector: Hey, dont go there... yet (ending 8)

-----

Shadow in a automobile
Shadow: Check out da bling :cackle

Has anyone got a Mp3 version of 'I am'

Seems fairly fun.. .Although I do understand that playing evil or hero missions are more tedius... I can see why people hate this game; the controls are loose and the presentation is horrendous...

But, the shere volume of things happening on screen and the sense of fun are brilliant :)

there's one large thing preventing me (well, parents) from getting this game, hardily any shops at all still sell new gamecube games, but will sometimes sell only second-hand copies. is this just a problem where i am, or more widespread?

I beat it last night. I'm being pestered until I post spoilers. So here.

Spoilers (Select To Read): Black Doom is Shadow's crator...And Gerald is in ANOTHER recording...And he tells Shadow to save the world...And Shadow does some annoying level then goes Super Shadow and kicks ass. AND CHAOS SPEAR IS BACK!

I kinda liked it. o.o Ripoff of Star Wars though.

Also, thanks to SSC's sending this to me, we have LYRICS. They're all here.

GameSpot FINALLY reviewed it. 4.8 for GC and Xbox. 4.7 if it's the PS2 version.

Hence why I'm very concerned as to why all the fanboys are STILL lapping it all up like some kind of dogs... but I'm planning on checking it out tomorrow from work (employees get free rentals, if you haven't gotten the point yet), since that means I'd take it back on Friday and not Wednesday (since you CAN'T take it back on Thanksgiving Day!), giving me more time to accurately gauge just how bad this game really is.

Oh, I see. So every ending (so far) has Shadow remarking about WHO HE IS, and every single one is different. The title song All Of Me now makes perfect sense.

Every ending is canon (in a rather dubious way). Now to complete it fully and see if I'm right...

Ya know, I've neve rhad a problem with ANY of the 3D sonic games (Okay, thats alie. DIE BIG.), even all these complaints of camera problems. Now, I do, and yet in some ways this game is better than all the others, and some its worst. Gameplay wise, I think its the best of the 3 other 3Ds, only Speed levels (even though the others were fine), where you actually sense the speed that you felt in the original games, especially with Chaos Control. I feel the 2 gauges really give you a sense of the whole "Choose your Path" gameplay. On the flip side, I died a RIDICULOUS amount of times on the first level, by accidentally speeding of some curves...repeatedly... The camera DOES get stuck more often, I feel there are MORE cheap jumps. And yet, the speed combo, with actual action taking place in between the bolting from place to place paces the game well. I don't think this game deserves a 10, like some of the fanboys on gamespot (really ridiculous the scores the fans are giving) but if you can get used to the camera, and learn to slow down JUST a bit, the game can be quite good, so I'd give it in the 7-range.

Game Central (Channel 4 Teletext page 305-09) reviewed Shadow. They said it had one good idea with the enemies but that was it. Sonic Adventure 4 with guns and it was like that Simpsons episode with Poochie but without the irony. 4/10 They fell short of 'Bastardisation' of the Sonic series because reading that review I thought they were going to say that.

Oh well Mum says she has got me 3 games for xmas and one of them is the 'gun game'. I wonder what that can be...

"Hardly any shops at all still sell new gamecube games, but will sometimes sell only second-hand copies. is this just a problem where i am, or more widespread?"

In my country (New Zealand), I have to travel to a city two hours drive from where I live in order to be able to shop for GCN games. I generally just make preorders and have the store send the games to me as soon as they get them in, but you know, sometimes I'd like to be able to browse and look at the game covers. But the fact is that they have such a small selection and take forever to get new games in anyway (if they do get any in at all.. seems only big name titles come out now). I haven't travelled my country extensively, but they're the only store in this country I know that stocks GCN games. It is a games specialist store, not a Wal-Mart of something. Also, most of the games they do have are all the same price they were when they were new (even the likes of Mario Sunshine, SSB:M, etc)

GameCube has been dead here for years. Stores in my city used to stock GCN games, but that was long ago, back when the console was pretty much brand new. No places have GameCube titles for hire. GCN version of Gems Collection came out here November 17. NOVEMBER 17. There is no excuse for that.

Sorry for being off-topic.

It has inherrant flaws and weaknesses, but it's fun and enjoyable and engaging... The controls may be bad but their a step up from Heroes, the grpahics are interesting and engaging and the plot is seriously mad...

I've just watched SPOILERS Shadow and Omega kill Eggman And... wow... The Voice Acting isnt THAT bad, and the variety of the levels is great...

The presentation is horrible, but, the core game itself, and the music, Is fun and engaging...
...

...

No, seriously, I would say it's better than Heroes but not quite as good as the original Adventure games...

As I'd rate them:
SA: 7.9/10
SA2: 8.0/10
SH: 4.5/10
Shadow: 6.5/10

Starting my repeat playthroughs now (I'm taking my time, I don't have to rush everything! :D ) and out of all the levels I've played so far, it hurts me that the level which enrages me most in principal is also my favourite of the game. Why Prison Island isn't all blown up is anyones guess, but DAMN (4th emerald!) it makes a fine level :D

Spoilers (Select To Read): The Ark makes no sense... there wasn't even a single HUMAN troop on it in SA2. Why are there suddenly all the human guards? >.>;

And the fact that Sonic is allied with GUN is stupid. He does everything for the thrill, it isn't about being a hero. The mere fact that GUN are the "good guys" pisses me off. They're such zealots.

Spoilers (Select To Read): Let's see... the Government shuts down ARK and leaves it adrift in space and forgotten. 50 years later, a mad scientist accesses it and threatens the planet... and you expect them NOT to have it under their guard afterwards?

Sonic's #1 concern is getting rid of the aggressors, in this case Black Arms. Everyone else is considered an ally, even Eggman if it aids the greater good. And in the case of Shadow the Hedgehog, GUN are the good guys. I don't think Sonic would begrudge them for something that occurred 50 years ago and the mix-up in SA2.

Sonic's not one to dwell on the past, that's Shadow's job.

Well I finally finish the game last night. I must say Last Story makes up for most of the game problems (expecially CG Super Shadow which looks awesome). The last boss was hardest the Last Story bosses ever. Heck not even Final Hazard was that hard so those of who haven't reach him prepared to die a lot and I mean a lot. As for story I was surprised by the ending and the revelation of how Shadow was born. The ending however forgot to explain why Sonic can use Chaos Control or why Shadow is a hedgehog. Maybe we will find out in SONIC THE HEDGEHOG '06 which mean we have to wait 7 month for it .

Alrighty Red, just for you:

Spoilers (Select To Read): Rouge: She's more or less the same as always, but is now wearing a weird hybrid between her SA2 and Heroes outfits, in the CGI scenes it's always SA2, but in the game she's wearing purple from neck to toe. You bump into her twice, once inside the GUN mainframe (cyberspace) and once in the final DARK level GUN Fortress, both time she is saying how she is on a mission from the Government and needs your help. She's very impersonal to Shadow (everyone is, except for Eggman, which is a shame. Sonic makes a vague reference to their past in the Semi-Hero storyline and Omega asks if he's the original, that's the most familiar any of the side characters get. Rouge's favourite line is to whine about how GUN never gave her security clearance relevant to her task. That's about all.

Knuckles: Turns up in Neutral Mission 2 and Semi-Dark Mission 6. In both he's just trying to fight away the Black Arms, he doesn't really do much despite being the helper for the longest(?) level of the game, his highlight is shouting "ARGH! WE'RE GETTING SUCKED IN!" when a tornado pulls you up, which is just a Not!Knuckles thing to say. At least it's not SHAA!

Incidentally, both Knuckles and Rouge are helpers in the dark final missions and vanish during the endings, whereas in the 3 other endings the helper is present (I've not tested this on the alternate endings, as I know that doing so does affect your partners presence)

Not really much to say about either, sadly.

Actually Craig, Knuckles and Rouge appear in the Hero missions not Dark ones. You can have them appear next to you if you choose them in the start menu and still complete the Dark mission however they will complain when you attack GUN or when your taking on the other mission that isnt the Hero mission.

I meant the Dark storylines 🙂 Helper characters being Hero is a given. If I remember correctly, Knux is Neutral 2 and Semi-Dark 6, and Rouge is Dark 2 and Dark 6.

This spoils pretty much the whole game, so I don't advise you to read it until you've beaten it. More or less, I'm gonna try to nail any plotholes down this game has made.

Spoilers (Select To Read): Since the 'last story' starts off in the Black Comet, it's safe to assume the true path is one that ends with Shadow obtaining the seven Chaos Emeralds at that spot. These endings are the light and dark endings for 'Black Comet' and 'Final Haunt.' Thus, only paths that can ultimately end with you going to these four endings can be considered cannon. (For reference, these levels are the two semi-dark endings and the two pure light endings.)

Since the G.U.N. Commander is back at the base, waiting patiently with the president in the true ending, he cannot be on the comet in the Diablon fighting Shadow with Sonic. This takes away the dark ending for the Black Comet as cannon.

Ivo would have died in the 'good' ending of the dark fight, so that obviously rules that one out. The Hero ending on the light side of the story is not cannon, either, because Ivo survives into the true ending.

The Dark ending on the hero side of the story also has the Diablon, so it cannot be considered cannon for the same reasons as the first.

This leaves only the hero-hero ending. Though it seems a little strange that Sonic would randomly run up behind Shadow after just fighting with him, we could say he was just rallying the rest of the characters to celebrate their apparent victory. (It makes a million times more sense than a theory concerning a reanimated Ivo Robotnik or that the G.U.N. commander can use Chaos Control on his giant robot.)

Concerning the paths to the actual ending, there can be a number of different outcomes. However, to fit into the same path as that ending, nine levels (The Doom, Iron Jungle, Cosmic Fall, Lava Shelter, Air Fleet, Central City, Black Comet, The Ark, and GUN Fortress) must be dubbed uncannon.

The GUN General talks to Shadow in Space Gadget and informs him that he was created partially by Black Doom. Shadow is completely awestruck when this is informed to him in the final story, (he falls to his knees and bows his head) so it's safe to assume that he never knew, or else, he has a really, REALLY delayed reaction to it. Thus, I conclude that he never met with the General, and never went to the Space Gadget. (Wasn't Space Gadget a level in SA:2?)

Though I can't proove this, I beleive it should be taken into consideration:

Doom talks to Shadow about the ritual in the Death Ruins, before you fight the Black Bull. He later informs Shadow about it with more depth at the final ending. Shadow seems to have some knowledge of the ritual near the end, (lest I'm sure he'd be very lost to his motives) and I think he's heard of it before. Using this logic, I would think this actually occured.

In conclusion, the path can only logically go like this:

Westopolis to -EITHER- Glyphic Ruins OR Lethal Highway.
Glyphic Ruins or Lethal Highway to Circus Park.
Circus Park to -EITHER- Mad Matrix OR Death Ruins. (Death Ruins with a higher possibility)
Mad Matrix or Death Ruins to Lost Impact.
Lost Impact to Final Haunt.
Final Haunt to Final Story.

Final Story to Sonic Heroes II... Just kidding. :p

~Nytloc Penumbral Lightkeeper

(P.S., I'll maybe try to do the same thing with all the minor...er characters later on, to see where they could and could not go.)

I just thought the fact that Knuckles is rushing off to fight a bunch of aliens, that are probably no threat to the Master Emerald or Angel Island was kinda silly and OOC. Rouge showing up was kinda silly too, but both of them have been OOC since SH. =/ "OH YEAH, BABY! THIS MAKES US A TEEM!!1"

I just think the inclusion of GUN is to try and link it to Sonic X, and I don't like that. (The fact that they keep calling it "Gun" is kinda silly, too. -_-)

If that was set to me, Questern, no. I've only done maybe ten endings, and haven't gotten but a few A-ranks. But the fact doesn't change that the endings will stay the same regardless of what you do in-between the levels. My theory should still be logical.

I mean the way GUN is portrayed in Shadow is alot more similar (Grammar FTW) to the way it is portrayed in Sonic X. In SA2 they were a faceless military organisation that was a little over-zealous, now they're the rampaging understanding heroes.

Need to get the 10 endings not the 365 Story Paths to unlock Last Story, right?

Spoilers (Select To Read):Uh, no. Shadow was never an Android.

"Shadow... Can you hear me...? This might be the last chance I have to speak with you, so... What I said...about having created you... It was all a lie... Everyone thought you'd died... during that horrible incident.... But I rescued you... With one of my robots... You'd lost your memory thats all. You really are the Ultimate Lifeform my grandfather created!"

Eggman says this VERY late into the Final Battle, so quite a few people might miss out on it due to.... uh, running out of rings.

And Shadow is neither Gerald's creation nor Black Doom's son.

He's BOTH.
