While this bump is up, has there been a soundtrack released for Shadow? I love most of the music in it.
The soundtracks were released back in Febuary. There's a game OST and a vocal album, Lost and Found.
Being i'm supposed to be an internet nerd...what does AFAIK mean? I know i've seen it before.
As Far As I Know.
Geez, i'm such a non-dork. I must try harder. =P
Step one is getting rid of your atrociously huge signature.
.. and replace it with atrociously large glasses, and an atrociously large book bag that knocks people down every time I ride the bus home...
ahem.. anywho,
Just finished Shadow last week. I finally found some time to play through all 10 stories (mein Got, if i have to play Westopolis again, i think i'll grab one of Shadow's guns and shoot myself...)
The later levels aren't so bad, especially when you're going for the simple "Get to the End of the Stage" goal. I'll post some more thoughts later when I wake up...
Ahh huge glasses. But I don't wanna look like a nerd...just a dork. =P
Well there is over 1,000 replies to this, and there is no possible way I can browse through all of them -- so I'm just going to bring this out of the grave and make a request from the community.
I rented this game, and have been playing it for about 3 days now. I would just like to, first of all, get a few things out of my system:
1) Did the developers even play this game?
2) I didn't know it was possible to make a Sonic game THIS bad. (I have more fun with Sonic Shuffle. A LOT more fun.)
3) I swear to god if there is a ton of "search for this, do this, etc." in the StH next-gen game ... I will go insane.
Okay, ignoring that ... does anyone know of a source to where I can find footage of the ending videos? Or, at least, the unlocked "mysteries" of Shadow? I hate to be asking for any of these, but I just honestly can't play this game anymore. This and Sonic Riders are by far the lowest I've had my hands on.
I am just dead curious on Shadow's history and what-not. What DOOM has to do with anything, if Eggman really created him, etc.
We still don't know if Shadow really died, Black Doom helped make the original Shadow and the Commander's backstory contradicts itself.
9 Minutes into the Devil Doom Boss Eggman says that he is sorry from calling Shadow a copy of the Orginal Shadow but his robots saved him from dying and that he is the Original Shadow.
Seriously. Yes, we DO know if Shadow died: he didn't. Eggman caught him. This has been known for well over half a year now.

If you have to ask, it's probably up on YouTube.
I tell you what Pure Skill, lasting 9 minutes with Super Shadow with ring draining Chaos Spear. Besides I only played Devil Doom again once I heard about the whole Eggman speaking thing. Got there and then Doom cuts over him. I lost the will to live.
Okay, I ended up getting Shadow the hedgehog recently, but here's my opinion of it;
I don't know why the reviws complained about guns and auto-aiming. It was never a problem with me. If you fight with the black bull for example, you shoot straight forward and the gun mysteriously points up. The only time it was wrong was when I'm climbing up some pole but then that was easy to fix. And so what if an anthromorph has guns? Maybe the hard-core Sonic fans would but I guess I have been playing so many other games like that I'm probably desensitized. Besides Fang in Fighters had a gun.
The music was good in some levels and crap in others. "I am all of me" seemed corny somehow.
The game play IMO was fine. I got through the levels, and it was easier than Sonic heroes at least. They could have made you able to play th new stry-line from previous ones you play, but instead you have to play through Westpolis over and over. Very annoying. But it was less repeditive than heroes and after playing that old game "Jedi knight" it wasn't too bad.
The characters that were supposed to help were damn annoying. I had to press mute when fighting the Eggdealer because Omega wouldn't shut up. Sonic as also annoying as half of his dialog consisted of "bring it on". I found a way to make up for that though by selecting one character and attacking the same side that character was on to annoy them. That was fun at least.
Shadow himself wa a dissapointment. I expected like an evil version of Sonic but he just turned out like crud. Most of the 10 endings sucked, Sega should have potrayed Shadow better. His evil laugh sucked. The repeditiveness of the 10 levels sucked. The constant use of Emeralds in the plotline that Sonic games seem to have along with Super-whoever is like one big DBZ rip-off. The final level made up for it though.

It's not so much as an anthromorph carrying a gun. Many people complaints stem from that:
a)The character himself doesn't really need a gun(or non-flying vehichles for that matter) based on his abilities,
b) he comes from a well-known kid-friendly franchise in which the majority of games aren't full of angst-ridden plots, and the realistic guns seems out of place and it looks ridiculous you'd would think the game was purposely comedic like Conker, but it isn't. Even Ratchet and Clank had fantasy-like weapons.
c) Yes, Fang carried a gun--a pop gun. Besides, he doesn't have nearly as many special natural ablities like Shadow.
Well, you can see what I mean from this big-arse thread for example.
From what I heard from OCB, many people at Sega hated working on this game--which I assume also reflected the lack of quality in this title. Despite the game selling well, I doubt that we will be seeing a sequel or even port of this game--unless Sega pulls an "EA" and punishes their employees.
P.S. Using "gay" as a negative conotation is frowned upon here so be carful with that.

Probably. But I haven't been playing that many games. I don't know just how much Sonic is on that level. Now if someone gave MARIO a gun, then I'd be spewing.
I'm guessing that's just a spoof.
I think though in Shadow's case he got away with it. I enjoyed the gameplay at least.
I'm guessing you also thought Heroes was a good game then. =/

Based on the internet reaction, just barely.

You need to play more video games--like Ratchet and Clank. You though Shadow was fun, then you'll probably be blown away(pun not intended) by that game. Devil May Cry 3 is also supposed to be good.

Not particularly, if giving up on the game without completing it then leaving it for a couple of years is any indication. I might like it better however depending on how Metal Sonic is at the end.
I just like ShTH better than that one, you at least get the power to annoy Black doom or Sonic & Co. Plus I was able to win it.

Probably. I'm not that big a gamer.
But why Ratchet and Clank or Devil May Cry? I've aready got some games I plan to get on my list.

Well when I DID go to buy the game, the first store I went to said it was sold out.

Because they are actually good games that seem to play similar like Shadow. Some people called Shadow a poor rip-off of DMC and R&C. Plus it is better for the industry to support the sales of good games, not crap like Shadow.
Actually, I have a whole list of various games I could reconmend. Though I'm not sure if this is the right thread to talk about it.

Too bad a game selling isn't always an indicator of how good the game actually is--only how popular a brand name is. Mediocre games based on movie and cartoon licenses sell 10 times better than excellent original games such as Katamari Damacy and Psychonauts.
I also wonder if that store you've been to have always been sold out of that game for awhile and haven't bothered ordering new copies of that game. I guess the sales of that game have been slowing down do to the widespread negative impressions.

Can talk about it here if you wish
Anyway whatever floats your boat. One man's trash is another man's treasure, and I'll just conclude that everyone has different tastes. I like coconut for example and most people don't like it.
Personally I preferred Shadow over DMC (they're NOTHING alike anyway).I rarely agree with the critics.
Oh, and a lot of Internet reaction was good; www.gamefaqs.com/console/...26672.html
A shocking amount of Perfect 10s.

But but GameFAQs is the GOLD STANDARD of interweb gaming discussion!
XD! Indeed it is.
Its always the fanboys...SEXIST!
/sarcasm
Again its too hot. I'm listening to the Matrix Revolutions soundtrack (Not the Nu-Metal poop) and drinking ice cold cola settling from a roast dinner. I've just realised that Shadow is Sonic with go faster stripes. The genius at Sega is scary.
I did enjoy bits and pieces of Shadow. Some of the later levels in the game weren't that bad. Gun Fortress, The Ark, Lost Impact, Lave Shelter and some others weren't that bad. Dont get me wrong for every good bit in Shadow there are a lots of bad bits.

Honestly, I liked Sonic Heroes. The only thing I hated about it was Team Chaotix, and a few bits on level design (it has hardly any replayability). But, IMO, it's not as heavily screwed up as Shadow the Hedgehog.
That game killed me as much as Sonic Riders. I never actually wanted to STOP playing through a whole Sonic game, AND I ENJOYED SONIC SHUFFLE!
I love Sonic Riders. I really do.
Frown at you.
I prefer Sonic Heroes, Shadow the Hedgehog, and Sonic Riders over Sonic Adventure 2 anyday.

I don't see how anyone can stand that game! It's just so ... cluttered. And the controls and level design, ugghhh.
I think it would've been awesome if things were just tightened up a bit, but after losing over and over and over on the SECOND LEVEL, I just gave up and returned it to Blockbusters. I've played a lot of games, and that game seriously could've been made better.
I thought the handling was similar to SSX Tricky so I got used to it quickly.
Plus I <3 Hang On Bike.
You know I actually thought Shadow the Hedgehog was good...
even though I only have the Gamecube version.I don't know most of the characters japanese voices(I.E,Black doom,Cream,Commander). You know Nintendo Power did give it an 8/10
Now that this fine game has been out for almost a year, I have a question.
A fine question, 3 letters in length.
Well that is a good question.
I suppose seeing as Chaotix got whole new renders that one of those would be them and the other one would be Maria. It wont be Omega because he never had a new render created for Shadow. And he doesn't appear in the pant wetting opening movie. Wont be Crema either for the same reasons. (I think)
XDX! @ TTG Yea that is pretty sad. The fact that you still visit that site of course. =P
Hey, I visit that site ever-so-often to see if they would ever up date the friends, weapons/vechicles, and stage section. As for Omega, the Shadow guide book gives a CGI picture of Omega like they do the other characters.
I saw that picture and its the same picture as the Sonic Heroes Omega.
Yea I was joking about the site actually. But I haven't been there since i've gotten the game actually. As for the updates, thats pretty lame they didn't ever finish it. Psh. Sega of America come on guys.
I finally got the game about a month ago. I only have a few words about; IT IS BORING. I'm just glad I got it for only $20. It was so boring that I only finished two endings.
Uh...you bumped a 2 month old topic to tell us this game sucked...........
I thought every one knew it sucked. (And I bought it full price. I feel alittle ripped off.)
I enjoy the gameplay, I just hate the plot. I got the game when it came out and I still play it sometimes.
Well I like to play the game instead of just reading about. I consider myself a true gamer and you just don't do that. I would rather have played it and know its bad instead of reading about it and thinking its bad by other peoples reviews.
The pointless cussing, the guns, the cameras, you feel like your controling a hegehog on ice at some times, Tails iq droped 50 points and the comander and Shadow talk.
Other thean that, the game was fine.
Abac... you finished TWO endings?
You, sir (or ma'am), are a far more patient person than I. I made a five-day rental, essentially a waste because I refused to play it the last three days.
-Jake
I also finshed two ending. Black comit was a pain!
I'm a man, and I agree black comet was a pain.
I rented Shadow, once. The time I beat it. 5-day rental, 5 days it took me.
Then I started punching my crotch to relieve the pain in my ass.
Well, I bought Shadow yesterday. So Far I have three endings. This game does have it's shortcomings, and quite a few of them (Central City is HELL) , but it's more fun than I expected. Final Haunt was fun, and I love how deliciously obnoxious Sonic is to Shadow. I like the bosses, but it would have been nice if there were a few more different ones, instead of fighting Egg Breaker 3 times. And the 4kids actors aren't as bad as I thought they would be; Jason is trying hard to immitate Ryan, Rouge doesn't sound much at all like the chainsmoker we know and love, and all the other voices are presentable. This game's not perfect, but so far it's been fun enough to keep playing.
...But, seriously, is it even possible to complete Central City? 0o
