Anyone notice how the current generation of Sonic games tends to be swinging more to one side or the other, as far as mood?
SA series had dark moments and light moments, but overall SA was far "happier" than SA2. The same difference I see in Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic Heroes. Heroes is by FAR "lighter" than Shadow the Hedgehog. Anoyone else noticing a loose pattern? Somewhat "happier", somewhat "darker", a lot "happier", now what appears to be really "dark"? Is it ust me seeing some sort of coorelation here?
Forgive me, I thought this up at like 3am on a school night, and it's been bugging me ever since.
Yeah, I've noticed several series getting 'darker'...
Such as Mario. After playing to the end of Paper Mario 2...things got weird.
I reckon the change in these series is good. I mean, who doesn't like a little evil on their toast?
Shadow will RAWK.
Nonono, I mean that the series usually has major releases in pairs. SA1 and 2, which had one somewhat darker than the other, and now Heroes and Shadow the Hedgehog, which is only a year or two apart. Heroes was very lighter sided, then there's Shadow, which seems very much darker. Maybe they're trying to release them in pairs. The Sonic Advance series and Sonic Battle. Advance was pretty light, and Battle was darker...
Like I said, it was 3. It shouldn't make much sense >>
I agree that there is a connection. I think they are trying to get more interest by changing the mood from time to time because with the same old mode it would be too boring.

Yeah, now that you mention it, the games are in that kind of pattern now.

Seconded.
Hooray next thing you know we'll have a game where Tails commits suicide or something.
But yeah, I have noticed that, too. But then again, now that I think about it, I don't really care.
That will come AFTER the game where Amy and Cream dance in the flowers, singing with Chao and Eggman cries because their so happy and he just wants to be happy as well...

It seems they're not satisfied with only T ratings now.
I can hardly wait for an M rated Sonic game.
That would be funny as hell.
A normal thing to think that Sega tries to reach an audience as large as possible. The youngest as good as the hardcore gamers - who were 8 when they received a MasterSystem with Sonic the Hedgehog for Christmas.
