SA2 y SA3 are the best sonic 2D games of history..They are the faster.

Ironically, that's exactly the problem. Advance 2 centered around too much speed with nothing else to base it on, as a result the gameplay suffered. It was much easier to run into enemies or off a bottomless pit because you could barely see what was coming, which actually slowed down the gameplay anyway. This coming from a game that's focusing basically on speed. Speed isn't bad, not at all, but a balance is usually needed. Advance 1 and 3 did a much better job than 2 did, in this case.

One of the best things about the Genesis Sonic games was the good balance between speed, platforming, and exploration. You weren't simply slowed down by getting hit by an enemy, the game threw other ways of slowing you down. Even when you were slowed down a bit, you could easily pick up on speed eventually. Having the option of more characters suited to exploring through levels with in Sonic 2 and S3&K (Tails and Knuckles) was also an added bonus, if you wanted to see more of an enviroment, experience certain elements you couldn't do with Sonic. Even with the Advance games, where you now have more characters suited to explore with, most of the time you're usually in search for the Chaos Emeralds, if anything.

Quite frankly, the gameplay isn't as suited to exploration, like the 16-bit titles were. That's why those games will remain classics.

On a sidenote, I don't dislike the Advance series. I think they're okay games in their own rights, they just can't be compared to the likes of the classic 16-bit games.

Oh, by the way, Sonic 101 sounds like the sequel to Sonic's Schoolhouse. ;)

I'm ashamed of i've said.Sonic 2 is not a piece of crap and that games are not overrated.
Simply I wanted to say that I'm fed up that that every time a new SOnic goes out is compared with them.I love hardly every sonic.

Why shouldn't they be compared to the prequels? In video games sequels are usually supposed to take the formula of the predecessor(s) and improve and expand it within a new work.

Yeah, all the core sonic games have been compared to the originals in some way. Even future games will the bottom line is the advance series didn't compare to the classic series so alot of people didn't like them. I didn't like them much either but more because they're just pretty bland, rather than not being as good as the originals.

True, but considering that it was a new console and a new developer and from Sonic Advance 2 it has become too different from the Mega Drive Sonics (seeing as the Advance Series has become more speed based and the Mega Drive games were better blended speed and platforming) to be directly compared or am I being a bit too overly genre orientated?

Because I consider Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution and Mortal Kombat: Deception to be completely different genres despite they being . seriously Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution is very technical and theres a counter move for everything while Mortal Kombat Deception a combo based fighting game with interective arenas.

So what im saying is while Sonic Advance 1 can be directly compared to the Mega Drive Sonics, Sonic Advance 2 and 3 cant be because they have become too different to compare directly.

How are the Mega Drive Sonics and the Sonic Advance games particularly different though, in gameplay setup? The basics are all the same, the same controls and attacks, the same types of environments, the same types of items, the same types of interactive objects, the same types of bosses. The major differences only come from the execution, not the premises or intents themselves.

If the Sonic Advance games set out to do something notabley different from the Mega Drive games then I fail to see what it is.

I can understand what you were tring to say but it all falls apart at the end. Sure advance 2 & 3 had some new gimmicks but at the end of the day they are still sonic games, so like it or not they have been and will be compared to the mega drive games.

I wish Sonic Advance 1 didn't had to rip off Sonic the Hedgehog 2.

This post isn't even old. Which means you're wrong.
There would be unknown posts if it was old.
