Australia's Classification Board has listed a new rating for Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut, suggesting that the GameCube game might be ported to current systems.
The rating says "multiplatform," which further vagues up whatever Sega's plans are here. That Gaming Site, which saw the listing earlier today, figures it could be a new control scheme on the Wii, an XBLA release, or part of some new compilation.
Sonic Adventure DX debuted on the Dreamcast in 1998; the Director's Cut was the version brought to GameCube and PC in 2003.
Sonic Adventure DX to be Remade Again? [That Gaming Site]

I was just talking to my dad about how I wanted SADX: DC and he told me that it wouldn't work for Vista probably!!!
ME IZ EXCITED NOW
Look at me, I'm such a Sonic nerd.
I love SADX:DC for the gamecube. The story is cool, the gameplay is great, and the levels are fun. By far my favorite parts are the stages in which you fly Tails' biplane. All in all, the game is a success.
This could be nothing and just SEGA/OLFC renewing the title's copyright. I remember reading that this common there.

Or maybe it has something to do with the Dreamcast 10th anniversary that coming in next week.
Remake...say it ain't so. It'll actually buy it! Please say it ain't so! 😛

Really? I didn't know that. o.o
Sonic Adventure getting a proper port to PSP would be EPIC WIN, but any other current platform would be meh.
Of course, even if it were true, it strikes me as odd that the news would come from Australia, the no-mans land of video games.
If this is legitimate, it would sound like a classic Sega move: port an enhanced port onto multiple systems and sell for profits.
Of course, instead of make money with newer, better games, milk the old ones. It's the way of the Sega.
And Capcom, Namco, Konami, Squenix, Nintendo, Atari...it's an easy mine to work. 😛
Perhaps with added "new play control!"
Lol, yeah.
Dang, I need to get my hands on Sonic Adventure. Like, NOW. We need to wait like 3 months before I can, MAYBE, get a Wii, and the wait is killing me. I want to get the 30$ Used Gamecube at Slackers, but my dad says WE MIGHT GET A WII, SO WAIT. But I cant. I have HORRIBLE patience.
SUMBUDY GIVES MEH MY VIDEO GAMEZ!!!

Whew, for a moment you scared me psx till I realized you were joking... y-you were kidding right?
O....M....G. I thought you were serious for a second.
y-you were kidding right?
In Universe R6, Psx was being serious!
Whew, for a moment you scared me psx till I realized you were joking... y-you were kidding right?
C'mon, Ray. I'd have thought you'd know by now not to take Psx seriously. He has all those wins for a reason.
I laughed, to be honest.
Or maybe it has something to do with the Dreamcast 10th anniversary that coming in next week.
The only thing Sega is planning on releasing for the NA 10th anniversary of the DC is a shoddy XBLA port of Sonic and Knuckles courtesy of Backbone Entertainment.
Happy Anniversary indeed!
Yay! Maybe they will finish it this time? And actually include Directors Cut stuff?
And maybe one day pigs will fly and all that will come out of guns are rainbows and happy times...

You're so funny.
Sonic Adventure MIGHT ACTUALLY be cool on a PSP, but it would never happen.

Well, Psx is known to be serious at times, soooo....

True, but those times are few and far in between.
That said, how sad is it that this is a remake of a remake?
That said, how sad is it that this is a remake of a remake?
I think it's more sad that some think the original game was called SADX instead of just SA.
To be fair, SADX got a lot more attention than SA did, due to it being on the Gamecube and not the Dreamcast.
Well, I guess you kinda have a point there. I didn't realize that cuz the SADX was the first time I played SA though I was aware of the Dreamcast.
Yeah, I noticed that, and thought it was kinda weird.
I just read that report and it talks about a "compilation". This is purely conjecture of course, but could we be seeing a third Mega Collection comprising of the Gamecube games?
The Wii already has the Metroid Prime Trilogy coming out which included ports of the first two 'cube games of that series with the New Play Control system implemented, so it's entirely possible, even if implausable.
But would you buy it? A collection of ports of Sonic Adventure DX, Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, and Sonic Heroes?
And what other games would you like included? Shadow the Hedgehog? Sonic Riders? The ORIGINAL Sonic Mega Collection?
Discuss.
chaotix plz
... I, err, meant Gamecube era, but yeah. Sure. Whatever. Its not like its actually happening XD
But, of course, be careful what you wish for. Everyone wants to be able to play Chaotix, but you know that if it DOES ever become widely available 99% of the people that then actually play will complain about the controls and the level layouts and crap like that, and call it the WORST SONIC GAME EVAH!!1!1One!oNe1!" and everyone else is being a whiney %+%%@ again.- all the while the truth is that while it does have its flaws (a Sonic game with flaws? Go figure!), its still playable and not that bad.
Seriously, are we the only fan-community where the majority of "fans" actually loath what they're still buying into? </rant>
Well, in my case, I actually had fun playing Sonic Unleashed. I just happen to nitpick at the usual flaws, which I think weren't as glaring as others. The story was also good for what it was. The camera wasn't as annoying, though randomly falling through the floor after speed-boosting on two occasions, getting killed by a red Dark Gaia bug stuck in a wall, loads and loads of QTE, later night levels and Eggmanland definitely made up for it. I'm glad I beat the game.
I can say the same about Sonic Adventure 1 and 2. They were fun to some degree, but the flaws, by which I mean the CAMERA at this point, always caused me a lot of problems.
Sonic Heroes (Gamecube version) was okay at first, but as I went on playing through the stages, it all started to get annoying, especially when trying to get the chaos emeralds. The controls in the special stage drove me crazy and wouldn't respond at all. I stopped playing it simply because I wasn't about to waste my time trying to gather chaos emeralds in order to get the final story. I just couldn't stand it. There was probably only one song I liked and Team Rose's theme unfortunately got stuck in my head (which is terrible in itself).
The one thing I really hated about Heroes was dying randomly while running through a loop with one of the teams, although the special stage thing really killed it for me. At least the characters were needlessly shiny.
I can't say anything about Shadow, I've never played it and I don't plan to. Hedgehogs and guns never mixed in my head, and I for the most part think Shadow's overrated.
I played a demo for Sonic 2k6 for 360, and it was the worst demo I've ever played. I actually expected it to be a teeny bit faster (for the record, the day levels in Unleashed sometimes got too fast), but what really killed that game for me was unresponsive control (again). Trying to homing attack towards a giant green orb does not equal falling into bottomless pits. But I digress. Also, human/hedgie romance = EEEEWWW.
I never said Chaotix was great, but it got snubbed from Gems.
Well, I think all that is true. Except for the Shadow part... to tell you the truth, I enjoyed the Shadow game's plot. It was actualy pretty interesting, and I also think that the guns were kinda cool too. I dont exactly like what Sega is doing with the character, with sort of making him ACTUALLY "the ultimate life form" as he can pretty much turn everyone into a mop. I do like the character's mysterious personality and backstory. I find it all really interesting.
I never said Chaotix was great, but it got snubbed from Gems.
Perhaps because it wasn't viewed as a gem. I thought it wasn't bad, but it wasn't that great. I did like the music, though. Some of it was nice. :3
I played Chaotix on GameTap, and dont remember having that much fun 🙁
That game is too old for you, methinks.
But in all seriousness, everyone has their own opinions so I'm not really surprised at yours.
needs moar voice acting, theme songs w/ vocals and cinema scenes, amirite?
Dude, its 1995. That stuff didnt exist til atleast 98
I keep forgetting sarcasm doesn't work on your kind.
Its very hard to pull off sarcasm in written text.
I don't know... sounds like an excuse to me.
Really? Tell that to nukeallthewhales. He said it to me :/
He was probably being sarcastic.
I get that you're being silly, Psx, but I kinda think that would be nice to renew the Chaotix contract. Remember the "Knuckles Adventure" hoax on Sonic HQ by Chainspike? Dude, I STILL wish that game'll come out. But hey, thats just me - total Rad-Red Head n_n
Really? Tell that to nukeallthewhales. He said it to me :/
He was probably being sarcastic.
Even if it WAS sarcastic, it is still hard to detect sarcasm sometimes, because the main identification of sarcasm is in tone, and tone only comes from voice. When it's written, it can be hard to detect.
Its much better if you say things like "Not" or "Yeah right" at the end and bold, or capatalize things within the sentence that would normally be emphasized when speaking, or maybe ending with a smiley similar to the one in Creo's post.
Compare "Yeah, Sega will renew Choatix's copyright someday."
to "Yeah, SURE, Sega will renew Chaotix's copyright someday! "
Some would prefer a more subtle approach.
