Plat-formers? What, do they form plats?
*sigh*
It been a day and half and no one has scan the bloody article yet?
C'mon I want to see some pictures already.
Hahaha! Indeed Kayla. The SMC is like the last of the good stuff. And even that...was old stuff really. So yea... Oh wait gems came out after. Still though. And Shadonic...maybe it's a fake. Because usually scans would've been up. *rejoices*
Everything started going down the crapper when Sonic the hedgehog 2 came out. >=(
First, they added that stupid spin dash that wasn't in teh first game! What the hell, Sega, you should have just made it like the first game! There was no need to change anything! And then there was that stupid fox that kept getting in your way. God, what were they thinking?
And don't even get me started on Sonic 3 or Sonic and Knuckles...
How the hell is the gameplay of either three of the games, the same old? One's an RPG while the other uses a Werewolf. :O
It probably means that the design is reminiscent of SA1 and/or their is a odd gimmick shoved into the game. The cycle usually refers to Sonic plat-formers(or plat-former-wannabes).
Also this is awesome: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBoqDk9RCaI
But wouldn't it make sense for Chronicles to have many playable characters and hub worlds considering it's an RPG? o.o

Leave it to Rico to get the point across. lol
Anyway, I'm Shad. Where's the freaking articles, scans, whatnot?
Edit: Anyone else can't stand the new quoting system? >_>
^Maybe it only applies to Sonic Team made Sonics as well?

I actually know some people who think like this...well concerning Sonic 3 and S&K. And Tails did get in your way when trying to collect emeralds in Sonic 2. 'Stop stealing my rings and getting hit, freak!' *shakes fist*

That's when you go to the Options menu and select "Sonic Only." It makes your life so much easier and saves a lot of headaches.
You know, they say the definition of insanity is performing the same exact thing over and over in repetition, and expecting different results each time.

Dang skippy!
Or you can find someone who's competent when it comes to Sonic games and he plays as Tails.
It's more fun and makes it much easier.
(Next theing you know will get a POTC themed sonic.)
Sonic Rush Adventure kinda felt like it might have been influenced by the popularity of the likes of PotC and One Piece.
What surprises/worries me most is the fact there's 3 Sonic games we know of being worked on...
There's always about three Sonic games being worked on at once, though (usually a main title, handheld title and spinoff). There was the Shadow/Rush/Riders trio, then StH06/Rush Adventure/Secret Rings. Actually there would've been the Rivals games and one of the compilations during those time periods, too.
I'm calling... three weeks until we hear that Black Knight will be a "return to Sonic's roots".

Did you know on Sonic 2, if you play as Foxy Woxy. (I know there is no real reason to, but just for a drunken laugh!) When you get to Sky Chase Sonic will fly the +@*+%+* plane! >=( Sonic doesn't need to drive a plane. He runs on water and @$++.
It did get a lot worse in Sonic 3. I mean Sonic drove an eggmobile and that pink girl thing died! Thats what pushed me over the edge on the Sonic series. I didn't even bother with Sonic and Knuckles. I heard they put in another character: A red boy thing, this time playable. It was weird actually, he looked exactly the same as her but was red and had green socks. I presume they were brother and sister and he was getting revenge on Sonic or something. I don't care, because I'm Ratchet and Clank guy now. ;_;
Final boss pic...
I lol'ed.
Though upon hearing news of this game, I frankly cannot wait for Sonic and the Deathly Hallows, Sonic: Prince Caspian or The Lion, The Witch and Sonic.
Look like Sega of Europe has reveal some info.
A new addition to the Storybook Series of Sonic Titles
SAN FRANCISCO & LONDON (July 21, 2008) -SEGA of Europe Ltd. and SEGA® of America, Inc. today announced Sonic™ and the Black Knight, an all-new Wii-exclusive adventure. Part of the storybook series of games that began with Sonic and the Secret Rings, this new title brings Sonic into the world of Arthurian legend and offers the worlds most infamous blue hedgehog the chance to become a knight. Using the unique Wii control system, this exciting game will take advantage of both the Wii Remote and the Nunchuk to offer an interactive experience that any Sonic fans will love.
Created by Sonic Team in Japan, this innovative game takes Sonic into a medieval world and arms him with a sword to aid in his effort to save the day. Sonic and the Black Knight will provide Sonic fans with an irresistible cast of characters and teach them all what it takes to be a true hero and the ultimate knight. With a series of missions taking place in stunning Arthurian-inspired locations, Sonic and the Black Knight promises to offer a fast-paced adventure that gamers of all ages will enjoy.
"After the success of Sonic and the Secret Rings we're delighted to announce a second title in the Storybook Series," said Gary Knight, European Marketing Director, SEGA Europe, "Following Sonic on his way to knighthood will excite players of all ages."
Sonic and the Black Knight, exclusively for the Wii, will be out in Spring 2009.
So yes, this is part of the series started with Secret Rings, which is a seperate entity from the main Sonic series - more details on the game will be revealed soon. - AAUK
Storybook series?
Then the game's main villain BETTER be Lancelot.
I'm more worried about what the other additions to the storybook series might be.
Anthropometric Tank Engines or Harry Potter. One of the two.
So basicallly the "Storybook series" is segas paper mario, Just with actual Historical Liturature, Hmm... Interesting, Frankly I'd love to see Sonic in the center of the earth or sonic VS the headless horseman, now those would be fun. (I KID YE NOT)
(or better yet Sonic Holmes: & the egghounds of bakerstreet LOL)
Oh damnit now Im imagining Knux dressed as sherlock holmes with a bubble pipe and have no sketchpad.
Awsome Darkwolfe just awsome, id love to see a drawing of that.
Guess what ive got more
20,000 leagues under the sonic
Chaeper By Sonic
Dr.Sonic
The Hedgehog & the Emeralds (Wind & the Willows parody)
Tails Potter & the Chaos stone
or
Lord of the Power RIngs & Finally
this may techniaclly be a Graphic novel but
Sonic City (Sin city)
....This storybook series has so much potential LOL!
Sonic & the Argonauts . That would be epic.
I just realise this could explain why the Wii version of Sonic Unleashed is being made by Dimps and not Sonic Team. They were probably working on this game instead of Wii version Unleashed.

Dr.Sonic
Would it, perhaps, involve throwing a bunch of multicolored pills into a giant bottle?
Yes sonic & the Argonautss would rule, how about 300: sonic edition or Eggman the Killing joke, or Sonruto or Sonicball Z ....so many Ideas man wish i did,nt draw like a 5 year old or i'd make fan comics for all of these. But Yea I gotta Say im Really looking foward to the wii ver. of Unleashed Dimps did Great things with sonic Rush & Im looking foward to a 3rd rush installment how bout you guys.
I don't understand why would Sonic need a sword to attack. His whole body is already a sharp weapon.
As for this game being the sequel to Secret Rings...well, I guess it is good news for folks who liked that game.
Interesting is that now the nunchuck seems to be involved in this one.
He needs a sword because its the games gimmick & im guessing that somthings gonna happen to where he loses his speed, like the dark knight curses him or somthing, kinda like erazor jinn did with the flaming arrow in secret rings.
Alright...now that they've said this is in the storybook series. I'm cool with it. Oddly enough. lol Like Legionfan said, it's Sega's Paper Mario. As for Dr. Sonic, I was hoping more along the lines of Dr. Sonic and Mr. Darkspines(Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde)
That game's called Sonic Unleashed.
Hahaha it is pretty much. I was thinking about that as I was posting it. 😛
I'm not getting the Paper Mario comparisions.
The only thing they have in common is that Sega could be creating a new spinoff.
Paper Mario is usually told as a story or history book.
My overall thoughts on this game can be summed up by one of my extremly crudly drawn doodles.
I think this says it all.
If Sonic was sitting inside Sega's Head Office, I'll bet he would be like "W...T...F." Dude, just quit Sonic, just quit from the "Storybook".
Either that or get a raise. XD
Oh well. Let's see how it goes. I'll TRY to be optimistic as possible.
-Developed by the same people as Sonic and the Secret Rings
-"This time, a sorceress named Merlina summons Sonic to the mythical realm of King Arthur, but it seems the fabled monarch has somehow been corrupted and now rules the land as the tyranical Black Knight."
-Uses a similar storybook device as Secret Rings
-"As Sonic runs along, a simple flick of the Wii remote will execute a basic slash, which is enough to dispatch most low-level grunts."
-More advanced swordplay consists of the ability to thrust, parry, and even pull off a buzz-saw maneuver midjump.
-"During out demo, we saw the hedgehog leap from a high precipice, then thrust the blade into a wall to slow his decent, sparks flying impressivly as steel cut through brick"
-"Combat is integrated in such a way that most of the time you can slice through any who stand in your path without even slowing down"
-Sonic is controlled with the Control Stick.
-"Our hero begins his quest as a mere knave. Only by becoming a full-fledged knight will he have any hope of defeating King Arthur."
-"his sword, a talking blade named Calibur, serves as a mentor"
-If you help civilian townfolk in need of assistance, you'll earn points toward knighthood. If you smite one of those civilians, your reputation will take a hit.
-"At the end of each stage, the game tallies your good and not-so-good deeds and updates your rank accordingly.
-You can purchase items from residents. "Sonic can aquire everything from gauntlets to magical tomes to new swords, and when equipped, each article bestows him with a unique benefit."
-About 200 items in all, with some being able to be combined with others to make new ones.
-You have the option to go online and trade items with friends.
-Rings come in burlap sacks instead of monitors.
-Sonic uses magic elementals to help him do various things, such as a bounce pad or a speed boost. They look like chao heads. The red ones give him a jump and the blue give Sonic a speed boost.
-Sonic can cross large gaps by firing a ballista and grinding the rope to the other side.
-"On the audio side, veteran composer Jen Senoue is taking a smiliar approach, injecting familiar Sonic themes with a Celtic flavor."
-"Each stage has multiple branching paths and searching for townsfolk and treasure chests provides an element of exploration that recalls Sonic's early Genesis days."
-"the camera will occasionally pan to a side-scrolling perspective for a quick dose of classic 2-D action"
-SBK Bringing back the skill system from Secret Rings, but they're trying not to have the skill system interfere with the game's tempo this time around.
-The mission structure also returns but the developers hope to make it less arduous.
-"And there will be no dinosaur eggs!"
-"Just as they subbed in for such characters as Ali Baba and Aladdin in Sonic and the Secret Rings, a number of familiar faces will assume Arthurian personas in SBK."
-"This time, however, some of Sonic's friends will be playable. Each hero will boast unique abilities, and though the team isn't ready to divulge the full cast just yet, we do know the identities of two playable comrades: Knuckles, who brandishes two swords at once, and Shadow."
-Playing as these other characters is entirely optional. You will be able to play through game as Sonic, or switch to the other characters if you choose.
-A new special guage will "bestow him with similarly impressive powers. The meter fills gradually whenever Sonic vanquishes an enemy or snags a purple elemental, and when it reaches a certain point you can unleash a powerful combination attack capable of tearing through multiple foes in quick succession."
-"the team behind Sonic and the Black Knight is keenly aware of the franchise's past missteps, and their enthusiasm for doing right by the series is infections"

Sounds flippin' incredible.
Paper Mario is usually told as a story or history book.
But the games are not altered from actual classic literature. Also, I seen the screens. The game doesn't look bad on a technical level but it still seems odd to use Sonic like this. 😐 Alex Kidd would have been a better fit for this, or this idea could have been reconstructed for a new Wonderboy in Monsterland title.
The sword is its own character?! Why?!
'cause, Sonic Team?

And that my friends is why they're using Sonic and not those guys.
Gee and to think after seeing all that E3 had to offer I was thinking about selling my Wii towards the purchase of a PS3, but this game alone gives me reason to keep the system.
In the mean time I'll just "keep playing Mario Kart, keep playing Smash Bros. Brawl."
Merlina? what happened to Merlin, Who the Heck's Merlina, his neice, sounds like a type of exotic beverege. But seriously this is like the 10th new female sonic character weve gotten this decade, man Sonic sure is a player ain't he. seriously though, Merlina?
Yea, i'm actually liking this. Pretty awesome stuff.
And that my friends is why they're using Sonic and not those guys.
What?
And that my friends is why they're using Sonic and not those guys.
What?
What about What?
I, dont get what you mean by what?
don't tail me your still not getting the comparison?
anywho anyone also fill like sonic's being over worked, I think Sega should give him a raise LOL!
Huh? I was addressing to Razorsaw the reason for his/her statement.
GEEZ! And I though this was a joke?
HEY SEGA! Wonderboy needs some work!
Shion does great work, Great Work!
... GREAT WORK!!!
And that my friends is why they're using Sonic and not those guys.
What?
Why use two obscure characters who have been dead for decades, and not the well established mascot whose already made one game set in a living fantasy world?
In short, you answered your own question.
Yea Ashide i'm with you. I'm not sure what Razorsaw was meaning by that, either. Anywho...Merlina...maybe[hopefully] Sega will reuse an already established character[Amy or Blaze i'm thinking...possibly even Cream but I doubt] instead of actually making a brand new one. Heck maybe even Marin[wasn't that her name?] could be Merlina. *shrugs*
"Knuckles, who brandishes two swords at once, and Shadow."
Not only does he use two swords, but he also swings Shadow around as a weapon? That's some pretty impressive stuff, Knuckles.

Except that Alex Kidd appeared in Sega Superstars Tennis, and as for Wonderboy, it would have been a great time to revive him(or that girl from Monster World IV) and maybe to finally bring the Sega Ages Monster World Collection to NA/PAL lands. I mean NiGHTS was revived. Sega has a huge library of classic IPs, and they are just wasting away that huge potential for an update. :-/
The best thing about the info that was given is that the soundtrack will have Celtic renditions of Sonic themes. Otherwise, meh.
