Ok sure thing Craig.
Wow, colour me impressed by those new screenshots, especially the tall grass one, looks more like a 360 game than what the majority of Wii titles would leave you to believe the system is capable of...
Cwiagey Waygey Puddin Pie. :3
Oh topic... So this is less ninja sonic and more crusader sonic? Scary.
~Tobe
Yes it certainly is very nice to be burden free Craig Bayfield.
You should shorten a lot of names too, almost all names here should be shortened when referring to someone.
Yeah, like Kio and TTG and Toby and Robo. When was the last time someone included the "Warrior" part when referring to you, Spawny?

Haha actually I think I did a few days ago , The Turtle Guy. =X But yes...game does look nice. But I shall not be fooled again.
Please do not use both of my names like that, it feels so cold and alien. I'd really prefer it if you said Craig or if you're feeling like just my sirname, Bayfield. I couldn't exactly have Craig as my username as it was already used, but my sirname alone is also impersonal, so I used my full name but do not want to be referred to by it. That is just weird.
Unless you're secretly Franziska von Karma.
"You will lose the case today. I shall see to it... Mr. Craig Bayfield!"
omg I wonder who weens the art contest. Its over now, right?
I do know that Adamis was one of the winners.
what did adamis draw?
He's not allowed to post the winning artwork until it's officially unveiled by Sega, otherwise it gets dropped. Apparently, this has already happened to a few of the winners.
Yikes!
Sega is monitoring all Sonic related message boards then? o.o
They probably don't need to. All it really takes is for some Sega.com forum idiot to link directly to the contest winner's picture with a subject like HEY GUYZ FOUND ONE OF THE WINNERS CHECK IT OUT PLZ STICKY LAUREN!. Whoever runs the forum there will get word to Sega corporate... aaand you're out.
yeah so don't risk it >>
Well, I do hope Adamis' piece eventually gets shown and is full of love and win.
Also, I am very happy with the idea of a Crush 40 music video.
I am impressed. The utilization of teh sword right now to me...is a welcome addition. Its all of Sonics's basic movements, just with a blade at the end of it, so the fundamental jumping into enemy/homing attack is still there. Little Sonic Battle-ish wit the punching swapped for swiping and hell, spring jumps will be awesome, just hold the sword str8 up and pokedie
I look forward to this game now.
I've not seen it, but apparently in the newest GamePro they had a new preview for Sonic & the Black Knight, they were able to play a demo of the first level. Apparently they loved what they played a whole lot and said some of the following:
-Use sword while running, which makes it feel like you're playing a Sonic game with a sword, not a sword game with Sonic.
-The level they played had villangers you could talk to and save, which makes the game's stages feel like levels and adventure fields all in one, which they say is an awesome approach and they love how the levels are real open-ended.
-They like the part Sonic uses his sword to go down the wall, and demand SEGA do this on a curtain in the game.
-New screenshots.
That's about it, but there are no scans yet.
So the game is not like Secret Rings then? Cool.
they love how the levels are real open-ended.
Could this be the game that does it in 3D? Probably not, but I'm curious what they mean by that.
Am I the only one who thinks "Knight of the Wind" is an awesome song beyond belief? o_o

I really like it too, but maybe not the best, but still really good.
Well it's more a less a given that anything by Crush 40 rocks. I mean look at Open Your Heart, All I Am, His World (Cover), Live and Learn, What I'm Made Of and the other Sonic Heroes so--
Okay.
Scratch the other Sonic Heroes songs.
But the rest rock!
We Can was actually a good song in my opinion, it just gets overshadowed by SH's failures, and actually, Sonic Heroes wasn't all THAT bad a game. I certainly expected better when I played though, mind you. But its not all that bad, its about a 6/10 to me, while I expected a 10/10, which is why I believe the game gets hammered so hard. But yeah, Crush 40 = Win.
We should definately start a MoFo Crush 40 fanclub pronto.
I think the only other song of theirs in Sonic Heroes was, well, "Sonic Heroes", which was only mildly silly. "What I'm Made Of" is quite possibly their best song.
EDIT: lol I had completely forgotten about We Can
not that that's a bad thing
Game Pro scan that Toby mention.
-The villagers exist on action stages like in Unleashed.
- If you attack them they won't give you items.
-The game uses The Secret Rings engine.
- Merlina is Merlin's grandaughter.
The story should have had Merlin or Merlina or a dead knight of the round table posess Sonic's soooouuul >> That way his weilding of a sword would make a little more sense. And the soul is a bastard who won't release Sonic until the quest is finished kind of like in Secret Rings if he didn't help Sharah he was going to die if the flame went out.
Sonic is getting thrown into all possible cliches. It is the Sonic cliche, why hasn't anyone caught on?
Ahhhhhhhhh, I can't wait for this game XD I know they're probably going to all-out slaughter Arthurian lore (the fact that *Merlin* has a *granddaughter* is bad enough) but I suppose it's forgivable because so many Arthurian legends are steeped in religion... And heck, Knuckles is going to be duel-wielding swords. How frickin' sweet is that?
Also, is there a release date set?
Sometime around April-ish, 2009, last I heard.
Boo, I wanted it for Christmas )= Thanks for the date, though!
According to Wikipedia, SatBK comes out on March 15 which they got from some article on IGN.
...I'll try for Easter, then XD
Now that Unleashed is out( and enjoying the hell out of it), time to focus on the Sonic and Black Knight. Game Master scans.
Edit- Another preview.
lol this is like knocking down pins. But tis game isn't due until next year, right?
They should take the data from Unleashed and analyze it carefully!
Lol Sonic and Pandora's Box......why the hell not? XD

New screenshots featuring some new enemies.
"Hey there, Knuckles. Long time no see."
"Eat steel Hedgehog."
Awesome, Knuckles has the Golden Axe. I wonder if Shadow will have Soul Edge. Because he is all misunderstood and stuff.
It has to be said: Its looking, graphically, quite nice. Although there is noting there that makes it look like a Sonic game.
The characters need some kind of costume embellishment.
Are you people actually still in anticipation of this? After sega dropping the ball on every sonic game since 2001 you still hold hope? And why would sonic need a sword when the back of his head is essentially made up of swords?
You can't block with quills. You can't use quills to handle your descent down a wall. You can't use them for even half of the things you'd use a melee weapon for.
Yes, we know.
The fact remains that this is made by the people that made Sonic and the Secret Rings, the most competent 3D Sonic since the Dreamcast (not counting Unleashed), and the of the major ideas behind the game, the fast paced free roaming levels, are what excite me.
And at least the sword is being worked into the normal gameplay.

1. Sonic is a supersonic hedgehog, he can dodge. 2. Since when has sonic had to worry about fall damage? And he can run down the wall anyways. 3. Sonic can curl up and become a melee weapon.

... Dude you can't use any melee weapon at all ever to handle your descent down a wall. Like ever. At all.
But I like the idea of the game anyway.
True, Sonic''s quills are sharper than metal, but it doesn't fit the story; plus, I have a feeling that the bad guys are magical and invulnerable to Sonic's quills thus needing a magic sword.

That is opened to debate as SatSR is the closest to a Sonic game that I could honestly say that I hate. To be honest, if it wasn't for my deep love and loyalty to the series, I would probably say I did hate Rings!

I meant in the context of the game itself, because that's part of what he uses it for.

No, he can curl up and become a living PROJECTILE. At the very least, his repertoire is being expanded for this as part of the setting.

I said competent, not best, nor the most fun, simply the only one I can think of that managed to have an idea, stick to it, and at least do it pretty well, even if it isn't what we want from Sonic.
Well atleast sonic and the secret rings got it partially right. Unfortunately it messed up on the stage of having good level design.
Sonic: "You got a problem with my sword, boy?"
LOL
That some cool looking artwork.
