Hah thats a pretty cool picture.
Nintendo Power preview summery:
- Nunchuk to move Sonic, A to Jump and flick of the Wiimote to attack, and Z to block
- Knuckles, Shadow and Blaze(YES) are bosses in the game, they are part of a round table, once you beat them they become your friend. Looks like they are playable as well, though this is optional.
- Each environment has about 6 to 9 missions.
- Looks like there is 3 fighting styles to choose from. Cavalier style = speed. Paladin style = Strength or Knight Style = a balance of both.
- You can get new skills, like in Secret rings.
- There also seems to be a multiplayer mode (Battle and Survivor Mode)
- "There are Solo Missions designed specifically for ranked online challenges"
No word on whether it's on-rails or not?
NGamer Preview:
Points in the preview are -
- Stage 1's enemies all seem to be knights
- Double edges sword slows Sonic's attacks down (most definetly due to the fighting style they chose)
- The camera sits behind Sonic most of the time, switching to a side-on view for certain combat and platforming sections - just like Unleashed.
- The winding track-like stages are as much racing game as platform game - just like Unleashed
- Other gameplay elements will see Sonic returning to completed acts to take part in a series of missions and earn more followers.
- Later levels are likely to introduce slightly different play styles. We've even seen one that places Sonic atop a horse-drawn carriage, giving him the opportunity to fend off an ambush from a bunch of nimble assassins
- We haven't seen anything quite as incongruous as The Secret Rings' dinosaurs yet, but hey, there's still time for all kinds of new things to be included.

Heh. LIke the giant ogres?
Also. Yay horse drawn carriges are faster than sonic for some reason.
Heh. LIke the giant ogres?
Ogres, in a fantasy game.
Seems pretty easy to understand to me.
Cool info. I like the idea of different types of styles you can play with.
So if Knuckles, Shadow and Blaze are the Knights of the Rountable, does that mean Rouge and rest could be the others 8 knights?
So when's the release dates?
No idear. Sometime in March.
i really hope that they did research about the legends before choosing which character plays who.
So when's the release dates?
According to Wikipedia, SatBK comes out on the following:
JP Spring 2009
NA March 15, 2009
EU Spring 2009
Btw, that cover art looks awesome!
No idear. Sometime in March.
Ah! The month of my birth! Well, I know what I'll complain about now. *evil grin*
- Soul Surge move: press B and shake - causes a "series of deadly lock-on strikes or a blinding turbo boost that can get the hedgehog out of almost any dangerous situation"
- some skills from Sonic and the Secret Rings will make a return
- two new skills: Paladin's shield-breaking ability, and Cavalier's wall-climbing Splash Jump
- sword is called the 'Caliburn'
- add offensive/defensive abilities
- Molten Mine features…minecarts
- Titanic Plains features grass which you can cut
- "Each area has multiple missions - between six and nine per environment - and since there are two paths through the game, you won't visit some stages until subsequent playthroughs, providing plenty of replay value."
- multiplayer allows for CPU fights
- March release mentioned
- acquire new skills based on the fighting style you choose for a level
- skills are measured in 'stars'
- start off in Misty Lake, then go to Camelot Castle, Molten Mine, Titanic Plains, and more
- Tails is a blacksmith, and creates useful items out of items you collect
So much for my theory of Tails being Lancelot.
Found the Australian cover for Sonic and the Black Knight
Tails is a blacksmith? Makes sense. It fits. I personally wanted Blaze to be Lady of the Lake but whatever.
Yeah, but think about it a pyrokinetic cat being the Lady of the Lake, yeeeaahh, but water and fire doesn't mix to well. Now Marine, which looks like she controls water, might be a better choice for that.
"Caliburn"?
The whole thing about Blaze being lady of the lake is that it would look badass to have fire shooting out from water. Its the whole magic theme you know.
Ah, I can see your point, after all if Mario can shoot fireballs in the water than why not a Sonic character.
"Caliburn"?
An older name for Excalibur.

Lol, I know. The giant rating things are horrible, huh? At least with a G rating it doesn't require the additional white box explaining the content. In New Zealand, games came from an Australian distrubutor, so it was the same there too. Now I've moved to Australia and shops refuse to use sticky pricetag labels so my Sonic comics get the price written directly onto the cover I'm tired of cover marring!
Sonic Unleashed (360 version) is my last Sonic game from the 'main series' (the big 3D platformers we get every 3 years or so). It wasn't horrific, but I disliked a lot of it, and so the amount of enjoyment I did manage to get out of it isn't enough to warrant putting myself through it again with the next game. If I don't like Black Knight either then it's my last Sonic game, period. So... I hope this is good. I hated Secret Rings but it seems that they've removed the two aspects I hated most (automatic running, annoying jumping mechanics) for this 'sequel', so I do have some hope.
"Soul Surge" - soul returns. I wonder what we collect this time instead of pearls to gain soul? Is it those Chao-head Elementals, or are those more like the Fire Souls?
The franchise has been seriously wounded... but the soul still burns.
Why can't the giant rating go on the BACK! Are people too retarded to flip stuff over?
The OFLC ratings would be better as stickers on the outside of the sleeve, so i can peel it off and burn it. Even putting it on the spine would be better, sick of them ruining good cover art.
And CyberKnux you should order from comic stores, i assume you get the comic from newsagents; They'll do anything to a comic cover and not care.
At first I kind of thought that was a joke. But is that for real? Those giant unappealing....things on the front of covers? Thats not cool....
You could call it a more dramatic version of what the final cover may look like, i just blew it up 200%. It's still quite intrusive, lucky Sonic is usually g rated. Anything higher and you get the whole explanation of what the rating is too. >_<

I've wanted this to be possible for a long time. There was no such thing as a comic shop anywhere near where I lived in NZ, and now that I'm in Australia I've also yet to find one in the area. My problem is being unfamiliar with the names of the suburbs and such - I'll try educate myself so I can find a proper comic shop, I guess.
About the rating label - I'd love if the cover was reversible, and had a clean version on the back. Madman did this with their DVD releases when that stupid label revamp first occurred.
Is there a way to enlarge the pictures at Shadonic's link beyond the default? I click on a thumbnail and get like a thumbnail and a half. I want to see the detail on the Black Knight artwork.
wonder what the third Storybook game will be?
Hillarious 'Black Knight' bloopers featuring Martin Laurence...
I'm calling Sonic and the Island of Sodor for number 3.
Either that or Ancient Greek Mythology.
Sonic of the Rings.
You know you want to see it.
I want to see Sonic and the Argonauts! >8O
Sonic of the Rings.
You know you want to see it.
HAHAHAHA! Wow...now that's clever. I'd buy that just to say the title all the time. But I was watching X-Play and Sonic was the number 2 franchise they don't want to see in '09...guess this game is already on their "bad" list, huh?

They only look out for your safety. Things could be worse, it's not like the Government's filtering your Internet surfing...
Oh, wait.
Ah, I can see your point, after all if Mario can shoot fireballs in the water than why not a Sonic character.
Because they don't have fireflowers in the sonic verse.

Blaze has no need for fireflowers.
Blaze: "Fireflowers? I need no stinkin' fireflowers!"
Oh god. Please let this game be polished.
And if at all possible, let this game be Polish.
Poland need love, too.
http://theeyzmaster.devia...Great-Adventure-105715440 Well they just missed the pirate craze. We're now in the emo vampire craze. But maybe they can make this game in the next Pirate popularity upswing.
Hmmm... Do want?
Shadow's ridiculous boots look kind of cool here.
Sod it, I like it. I want it. I may hate that black and red spineball 9 days out of 10, but this is a day where I like the cut of his jib.
Woo.
heh Yeah for Shadow haters who have ever wanted to run shadow through with a sword this game is for you.
Oh, heck, yes, Shads looks awesome!
Also...Amy is Lady of the Lake.
Amy?!

I wonder if this mean Blaze is Guinevere since Amy is the Lady of the Lake?
No Blaze is supposed to be one of the knights you fight. I really freaking hope they don't include that Guinevere Lancelot Author love triangle in this game. That would be stupid.
