Anyone else noticing the subtle changes they are to Sonic? His body is more the short, squat kind of classic Sonic while retaining his SA looks on his face.

But thats only if this game actually uses the characters in the story in accordance to the legends and not just plot them there to give you missions. Saaay if Rouge was Morgan Le Faye, makes sense. That character wasn't exactly good (bad at the start i believe) but in the end she helps the hero. But if Knuckles is Sir Gawain that means Rouge is his Aunt XD
If Amy is Lady of the Lake then she ressurects Shadow (Lancelot). She'd play a larger role if Sonic was actually Authur because he gets the sword from the lake and Merlin got his powers from the lake as well. She'd even be Knuckles'/Sir Gawain's foster mother from infanthood lol.
Eggman would probably be Mordred. He backstabs Authur making him a good villian choice. Eventhough Eggman wasn't a bad guy in Secret Rings... lol he'd be Knuckles' brother. Wow the family resemblence is so strong

Also according to some retellings, Rouge and Sonic would be full or half siblings.

They then told DiC to run with the idea in thier cartoons, but since DiC is so creative, they thought "run with the idea" meant "make Sonic mention chili dogs every 15 seconds like an idiot."

Yea, but the DiC Sonic came about at the time Ninja Turtles was around and every cartoon character around that time had to have a favorite food kids liked so they could relate more to that character. Lots of cartoons were doing it at that time.

Well Merlina is supposed to be Merlin's granddaughter. I believe it was mention in a Nintendo Power preview.

To be fair, that is an extremely common misconception. 
Well, now it's for certain that Merlina is in fact Shahra with a makeover. That's nice. =)
And ya gotta love how it's implied that Sonic throws his chili dog in the air, and then defeats all the knights with plenty of time to spare to catch it!

Actually there are Rings in the game. You can see the ring counter here and here. I wonder if the bar with the code of arms is supposed to be Sonic's life bar ?

^ Lol, I can see that. Both videos are awesome especially the first one, and it looks like Unleashed day with swords! As far as Merlina goes, I can see the similarities between her and Shaara, but I think there's enough of a difference, particularly I think Merlina is cuter than Shaara, where I wouldn't call them clones. Also, it looks like the little fairy thingies will be like the Moon and Sun Medals in Unleashed; I also wonder if quick step will be left in place cuz it looks like drifting will be there.

That Japanese scan is fairly interesting in that it's shedding a bit of light on who each character will be playing. Sonic is of course Sonic, while Shadow is Lancelot and Knuckles is Gawain. I can't make out the little hiragana above Tails, but Amy's seems to suggest she's be playing the Lady of the Lake.
Also, the "Black Knight" in question seems to be Arthur himself (sorry if we already know that, I haven't been following the news on this game too closely).
Yeah, you're just confirming what we already know, and by the way, Matt, Tails is just a blacksmith unless there's a named blacksmith in Arthurian legends.
