It's a seemingly good Sonic game on a console that is currently experiencing a drought. Why would it not sell?
Because the UK games market is ass-backwards and unless a title is mega-hyped it doesn't sell at all, to the point that the decent games are always there, but no-one's really heard much about them.
A bit depressing that, and something I intend to rectify eventually.
Was Sonic Rush and Sonic Rivals marketed at all?
OK, would someone mind telling why the hell did IGN give this game a 6.9? For **** sake why are they pulling this crap. They praise the game as holy and then slam it in the review. It happened to Sonic Riders and now it's happening again! :"> (

Neither of them got TV adverts, but Rush did and continues to sell well. I have no clue how well Riders is doing. Naturally there are exceptions, but generally speaking of the UK games market decent titles get swept under the rug far too frequently - our market seem to be very one-dimensional.
What? You wouldn't think Sega would not advertise this game on T.V. in the U.K.?
Also about the Reader Scores, why are they so high if the game wasn't released in most places yet? Bleh, no wonder I hardly take any reviews from fanboys seriously. So annoying.

6.9?
6.9!?!?
OHNOS! NOT THE 6.9! NOT THE 6.9!!
Come, fellow Sonic Nerds! We must assemble an e-bomb attack on the eternal Sonic hater, Matt AssMania!! >: Let us all ride to victory on the digial roads of the Internets!

According to the review, he had issues with some parts of the level design, the camera, and the controls--which is also a negative in the Gamespot review. He believes though, that it is the best 3D Sonic game yet.
EDIT: Actually did anyone read his review in depth? He actually goes to say why he has issues with the controls and he makes it a valid point.
Quote:
Sonic is part-racer and as if proof of that, the mascot is in Secret Rings always moving forward, kind of like a supercharged car on a one-way course. This would not be an issue if certain objectives did not call for gamers to press a button or pull back on the Wii remote to make Sonic go in reverse. We have no idea why Sonic Team would intentionally bring its mascot character, founded on "blast processing" and blazing speeds, to a screeching halt, but we could overlook even that questionable design choice if the camera did not also ignore it. For inexplicable reasons, the camera system remains unchanged and continues to shoot the action as if nothing has happened, even as players attempt to guide Sonic backward. The result is a situation that feels very much like putting a car in reverse during a racing game, except that racing titles show off more of the play field; in Secret Rings, players will usually not be able to see anything behind them and are instead left to pray that they don't either bump into an enemy or fall off a ledge lurking in the areas that cannot be viewed. It's uninspired and unintelligent execution. The thing is, gamers will frequently encounter situations where Sonic will need to come to a stop and jump backward; in fact, there are even entire character upgrades built around the function.
Other nonsensical design choices occasionally rear their very ugly heads. In most cases, these issues could have been solved easily with an improved camera. For example, in a few stages, Sonic will be speeding along a spiraling mountain and he will suddenly come to a complete stop because he's crashed into an obstruction such as a fallen tree branch - which, we might add, coincidentally happens to be placed right before a major chasm. Had the camera been pulled back, there would be no need whatsoever for this branch because players could have clearly seen the approaching chasm and prepared for it. Instead of tweaking the camera, however, the developer opted for the easy way out and placed the branch right in front of Sonic's path, intentionally interrupting the flow of the game.
Sadly, there are some mishaps related to control, too. Sonic feels loose and moving left and right with any degree of speed has an air of sluggishness to it. Players will quickly cope with this control setup, however, and even become pros. The bigger problem is that the Wii remote has not been fully utilized, in our assessment. Sonic is always running forward, but pulling back on the controller will not send him precisely skidding to a halt, as it should, especially since certain play situations call for it. Rather, Sonic Team has assigned a stop mechanic to the 1 button on the Wii remote, which is downright clunky, if not overly complex for an experience that aspires to be simple. As Sonic runs through environments that require precise timing - jumping from a ledge to a floating box, for instance - gamers will actually have to tap the 1 button as the hedgehog flies over the box in order to land safely atop it. Huh? Meanwhile, while the lock-on mechanic is much better than it has been in previous Sonic outings, it's not always reliable, which is why the mascot will very occasionally miss an enemy altogether and instead go careening into the water below.
But nah, he will probably be dismissed by the Sonic Nerd collective--assuming they haven't played the game yet!
6.9!
You know what really bugs me. 6.9/10. I mean is it 7/10 or is it 69%?
Either go with one or the other guys...
Also, THAY HATEZ TEH SONIK GAEM!!!!!!! RAOR!
Spoilers (Select To Read): New...Super Sonic?! Apparently Yong from SoaH has mentioned that a new red Super Sonic appears, thanks to merging with Shahra and the Secret Rings (if I heard correctly). Blackarms never mentioned this because he and the people playing the game never got far into the final boss (who happened to be super-duper-hard). Discuss)
6.9 is the new 8.8.
Spoilers (Select To Read): hmm red super sonic... could it be.. the solar sonic?? heh.. he is red and has the fire based powers still so thus he will be named in my mind as solar sonic...
Good grief. (hopes dashed)
Spoilers (Select To Read): Are you sure he red? I just saw the game guide at EB games and they call him Darkspines Sonic. From the look of the pics he look black and not red. Actually he look similar to Shadow.

Considering how much of a big deal SEGA were making out Sonic 360 to be, and considering that I only ever saw the adverts between 10pm and 2am for that game...
No. No, I don't think it'll get any advertising time at all.
I'm waiting on the Eurogamer review, myself, as they're the only site I deem remotely trustworthy.
People. I'm going to assume that since there was no mention of Possible spoilers (Select To Read): a "red Super Sonic" outside of spoilers, that he is, in fact, a spoiler (prolly in one of Shadic's posts, which I deliberately avoided). Therefore, you WILL use spoiler tags, because some people (like me) DON'T want to read this stuff before playing.
So that's that: use spoiler tags. End of discussion.
I'm curious has anybody here played the game, yet? I won't get to play it until next week, that is if I can find a Wii.
Spoilers (Select To Read): The red Super Sonic was a mistake. Sorry. But from what it seems, Sonic's dark side has been awakened, which is called "Dark Spine Sonic", and it may be referenced to future Sonic titles. Thanks to Shahra, she unleashed it, and now Sonic is going to have to supress it.
Apparently Shahra gets killed by Erazor when she harnesses the power of the Secret Rings to become a djinn and tries to save Sonic from getting sacrificed. Erazor is trying to open the door that holds Ali Layla, an evil monster that he believes will "save" Arabian Nights, but he needed a sacrifice to make it happen. He chose Sonic, still disbelieving the legend of the blue hedgehog and wants to kill him immediately. Shahra's first act as a full-blown djinn was saving Sonic. She takes the blow, killing her...physically. Soon, the door opens, unleashing Ali Layla, who happened to be a formless creature. It takes over Erazor's body. However, Shahra's spirit takes over Sonic's body while Sonic's anger is getting the best of him. Thanks to that, she unlocks Sonic's dark side, which is basically a black+red color, pupiless Sonic, with gold rings around his wrists and ankles, and has similar abilities to Super Sonic (he can fly). Shahra does this to control Sonic's power, because apparently this form is uncontrollable. This may also mean that Dark Spine Sonic can possibly be stronger than Super Sonic, seeing how this form is Sonic's power corrupting him, without the use of Chaos Emeralds giving him the power he needs to be Super Sonic. This may seem cliche, but I find it VERY interesting.
So to cut it short, the final battle: Dark Spine Sonic vs. Ali Layla. After the battle, Shahra's spirit exits Sonic's body and tells him something. This is a clue to why we may see D.S. Sonic again - she tells him that Sonic's dark side has been unleashed, and he must make sure to not let his "power corrupt him".
Post 666!!! I AM TEH DEVIL!!!
That sounds a little too similar to some OTHER character out there. I won't say who, though, since I don't remember how to do spoilers(hey, it's been a while) and I want to respect other's rights.
EDIT: Thanks to Shadic, I can!
Spoilers (Select To Read):SHADOW THE HEDGEHOG!!!!!
I WILL say this, though: As if there weren't ENOUGH complaints about the two of them being similar, we get THIS...
Way to go, Sega.
Spoilers: Make sure your formatting is HTML. Use these tabs: spoilers and /spoilers (make sure they have in them).
No thanks is necessary. 🙂
...That's just a rumor, right? Please tell me that's just a rumor. If not...
*cries*
I'm sorry. It doesn't seem to be. This is 100% true.
Well, there goes my hopes for this game.
Slaggit, why can't Sega/Sonic Team/whoever's in charge of the series now just leave well enough alone? Isn't anything sacred anymore?
Completely agreed. (cries at the absurdity of it)
Pfft. I swear, what's the big deal?
Aside from being the most idiotic move in a long line of idiotic moves? Nothing.
Currently playing it. Pretty sweet so far. You have to do at least five missions to unlock another world. Some are easy, some are tough. I'm doing okay, but I'm not very good at it.
I love the fact that can enhance your ring to power up your character.
Sonic's dark side has been awakened, which is called "Dark Spine Sonic", and it may be referenced to future Sonic titles. Thanks to Shahra, she unleashed it, and now Sonic is going to have to supress it.
...
The next Sonic game will feature a new character Tekno, a green canary that has a Dennis the Menace striped shirt, explosive earrings, and can fly despite having no wings. She becomes Amy's best fried and journies to hundreds of different worlds with her to solve problems via the Eternal Ring, a sentient trans-dimensional portal.
This is a clue to why we may see D.S. Sonic again - she tells him that Sonic's dark side has been unleashed, and he must make sure to not let his "power corrupt him".
COURSE YOU SEGA! COURSE YOOOOOUUUUUU!
You're kidding, right?
Skip to the part about the rabbit in the red leather jacket with a funky looking staff.

I just pulled a random arc out of Fleetway STC, the same comic that featured an arc with a world similar to secret rings'{shanazar} that someone tries to merge with the real world, and now "Dark Sonic" pops up, tethering another similarity. In STC, Sonic's super form is evil and takes over if he loses his temper.
Edit: No Johnny for you. He's DEAD.
Spoilers (Select To Read): It really has turned into something out of Fleetway. Crazee.
At least we'll know if this game is canon should this darkside Sonic ever come around again.
Spoilers (Select To Read): I want Percy to show up next. And Shortfuse. OOH, AND BRUTUS! AND THE BROTHERHOOD OF METALLIX! AND THE OMNI VIEWER!
(bangs head on keyboard)
I got it yesterday. Literally walked in the Nintendo Store...saw they were having this huge party for Sonic's 15th Anniversary and showing off the new game...and yeah I got the game.
>> And what do I have to show for it?
Yeah. I just played the Lost Prologue a bit, been working a bit-but I'm liking it so far. AND BTW-THAT SPOILER!!!!
NO! I refuse to deal with that BLASHPHEMOUS crap. x_x This must be their way of trying to go a new direction. By utterly running to another continent's rendition of Sonic. Oh man x_X
I am very close to swearing off Sonic permanently.

EDIT BY DIRK AMOEBA: The MAN is stretching tables. At least for some resolutions/browsers. But Dirk rescues the peons from the oppressor. Viva la Revolution!
What the bleep are you people talking about? You actually got me to skim a few spoilers with your ranblings, and... that's nothing to be mad about.
He told me he died... *runs off bawling*

Just got the game today and played it for about an hour without even realizing that much time had passed. That right says the game is good, since I wasn't getting frustrated and actually wanted to keep doing missions to unlock levels/extras.
The controls are the best in a 3D Sonic game in my opinion. Tilting the Wiimote left and right feels pretty natural, as does jerking it forward to do the homing attack. My only gripe with the controls is that the ability to hold in the jump button for a higher jump, because it feels awkward. It feels as if the jump is slower than it should be.
But anyway, I played the first two levels and they're pretty fun. The fact that the game is on rails doesn't take away from the action at all.
I came to a "fork" in a road where Shahra said something along the lines of, "it looks like you can choose a different path here," so I guess that's what people meant when discussing the different paths through out the game.
Oh yeah, and the opening scene is actually entertaining when Sonic's first wish is for a lot of tissues, because he has a cold. (it's funnier than it sounds thanks to decent voice-acting) I'm glad this game isn't taking itself too seriously.
Ill add more later, but for now the texts books are calling me.

YES!!
Not a fan of the colour scheme, mind. :/
EDIT: Also, anyone have any clue if and when the soundtrack to this game is getting released? I WANT. D:
What's the big deal? It happened on the third season of Sonic X as well. I think it's cool.
I'm guessing because it lacks originality and it seems to be very cliche.
Got the game a couple of hours ago. I'm liking it so far, and it's actually funny. The humor is reminding me of THE Sonic that I grew up with. I also like how Sonic's design in this game resembles his classic look too. And besides the fact that they took something from another continuity...it's better than taking cues from DBZ all the time, right?
Also...
Spoilers (Select To Read): In case you're wondering, Darkspine Sonic CAN lose his rings, a disadvantage of this form that Super Sonic surpasses. This form doesn't gradually lose rings over time, and functions like any normal Sonic character would. And for the eyes that want to see this...
HUGE SPOILER PIC!!! DON'T CLICK IF YOU DON'T WANT TO SEE IT!!!
Just got it, and, like Riders, It was better than I expected (so far). But I started out holding the Wiimote wrong! >_<
I could really go for a Wii right about now.
Why all the hate for this new looking form of Sonic? I find the angle somewhat interesting...if I could only find a Wii
How the heck do you get silver and gold medals in this game?!! I can only get bronze now matter how well I do, and I need silver and gold to unlock the secret stuff.
Sorry for the double posting, but you'll be to know the levels are actually more like worlds. There are alot of missions that take place in different parts of that world, so it's more like 10-12 levels per world in 8 worlds. We're talking around 90 levels here! This is by no means a short game.
I'm now very impressed with the game. Took me a while to get all bronze metals in the Lost Prologue-I didn't even think about getting anything higher.
As someone stated before-yes, that jumping business does feel awkward...I often got hit early on because I thought I had to hold 2 all the tie in order to jump. But I found out that's not the case and I've been railing enemies ever since.
Yah, definitely not a short game, and I'm only a few levels in now. I like alot. The rails help this game actually, because...yeah dodging flying projectiles at random moments in a free flowing game would absolutely suck since they don't even make shadows -.-....

Yeah, I hear ya. It's pretty hard to speed up any time record on Lost Prologue.
Also, the Rampage modes (kill 10,20,etc. enemies) can be frustrating, because it brings back the classic "we'll send you running at 100 mph and have an enemy pop up before you have time to react." But having infinite lives makes up for multiple collisions.
well the game is awesome, got it yesterday at gamestop and im into the pirate storm chapter now. I like how you have to do several missions in that world before you can progress into another. I am also frustrated with the gold medal thing too.. I have yet to get one and have only gotten one silver medal XD... eggman is awesome, (the following may be SPOILERS for some so yeah..) and i love how sonic saves him when he falls from the feet of the pterodactyl..XD his outfit gets caught on the edge of his foot XD
For the love of all that is holy, I hope that Spoilers (Select To Read): Darkspine Sonic NEVER appears again. Sonic with an evil side just doesn't work for me. I don't care if you understand WHY I don't like the idea or not. I'm not sure I can exactly place my finger on it either.
Yeah, its just not the *name* that is the spoiler 332...
